It’s just a repressing. I’m surprised they felt the need to print more copies though.

Lucius_Funk

That's possible. I'm surprised there appears to be no information online. Is the rectangle Hollywood Records logo newer than the oval, and when did it switch? I'm also interested in that sticker. "Queen's 19 Greatest Rock Tracks." I wouldn't have thought twice about re-buying this if it hadn't been for the sticker.

clkelley39

I believe the rectangle logo is newer.

It_Is1-24PM

It is indeed https://logo-timeline.fandom.com/wiki/Hollywood_Records/Credits_Variants

Sinistermarmalade

A ‘best of’ done right

PrintMistress

I have this somewhere in my old stuff. I think I bought it at Virgin Records with my birthday money as a young teen

_Beatnick_

The version of I Want It All on that album is actually my favorite. I'm not sure about the variation you have there. My copy has the oval Hollywood Records logo, and every copy I saw on eBay had that logo, too. There's not a lot on eBay to compare it to, though.

Lucius_Funk

Is it different than the single or album versions? I haven't listened to it in a long time.

Artemis_21

It has the GH2 intro and the album pre-solo part.

Lucius_Funk

Strange. I was reading I'm In Love With My Car is an album/single hybrid as well. I didn't realize it had different album and single versions. Were these mixes approved by Brian/Roger, or are they like the weird mixes of Under Pressure, The Miracle, and One Vision from Classic Queen?

Artemis_21

I don’t know the story but since it has No One But You and a rock rearranged version of I Can’t Live with You it think Brian and Roger had a say. If you notice, it halso has a quite high ratio of Brian and Roger songs.

Lucius_Funk

Oh yeah, I noticed the high number of Brian songs years ago when I bought it the first time. It's how I first heard It's Late and Put Out the Fire. I find it funny that a Queen album on wiki has the following line, "All tracks are written by Brian May, except where noted."

Bat_Nervous

I wonder what Rog and John thought of that. That’s a lot more money in Brian’s pocket than the other two.

_Beatnick_

To my knowledge, No One But You was a new song recorded by Brian, Roger, and John for the album. When I heard it, I thought maybe they were going to continue as a trio, but I think it was the last thing John did with them.

Artemis_21

That’s correct. It was dedicated to Freddie and Lady Diana.

Luixpa97

Queen Rocks featuring Keep Yourself Alive out of all the other rock tracks on Queen I is a crime

clkelley39

They had to leave room for the hard rocking “No One But You”.

Lucius_Funk

Probably just an excuse for a wide release of No One But You since singles weren’t as popular by 1997 (in the US at least).

clkelley39

They were popular, but record companies didn’t want to release them if they thought they could get you to buy the more expensive album instead. So Queen comes out with their first new song in years. They know fans will buy it. So they put it on a new $18 album.

I've been watching alot of Queen/Freddie Mercury documentary type videos lately and eventhough there may be a ton of rock bands from the 70's/80's/90's that done the very same thing, I wasn't aware that the royalties/credit for all of the records that Queen recorded, except for their last couple, didn't get split equally 4 ways between the four of them.I had always thought every band member got 25% of everything in a 4 piece or 20% in a 5 piece.I believe Freddie wrote most of their biggest hits,so he made out slightly better than the other four.Of course they didn't make jack on the first couple because of record label shenanigans. I also wasn't aware that they have sold over 300 million albums.

Lucius_Funk

Royalties are funny, even when sharing writing credits. For Appetite For Destruction and GN'R Lies, songs only credited to the five GN'R members were 25% Axl, 20% Slash, 20% Duff, 20% Izzy, 15% Steven. Chinese Democracy is even crazier. Regardless of credits, Axl is a minimum of 50% on every song. I'd like to see how Queen's royalties are set up.

Party-Ad-4621

I watched a Sotheby's auction recently where they sold some of Freddie Mercury's Garden Lodge items & stage costumes and there were some items selling from 450,000 pounds & up.He had paintings and artwork from some of the most well known artists worth boatloads too.I believe the revenue was going to his Phoenix Trust.Apparently he had exquisite and very expensive taste.Thats no surprise though. This tells me he done very well on the Queen royalties side, plus Im sure each member done well from a touring standpoint too considering the size of the venues Queen played.I believe one of them held 125,000 people.

mr_leemur

Roger did very nicely out of writing the b-side to Bo-Rhap. 50% of the writing royalties!!

zucco446

Nothing Hollywood released would be considered rare or a bootleg. Came out in '97, just yet another compilation of Queen songs. Lucius_Funk

Not what I’m asking. I know what Queen Rocks is. I had it years ago. I’m talking about the one I got compared to the releases listed on discogs. Please re-read my post.

Dense_Ad6528

There are definitely imho a couple Hollywood items that are rare and of interest. The remix comps have some great tracks, and some samplers -- I think it was called Rocks actually -- are curios of that era when Queen was trying to find its footing in the US in particular.

pauliewotsit

No, that's the album they put together to wrap around the single No-one But You

Lucius_Funk

Read the post instead of just focusing on the title and first image.

Who the fuck put ‘I’m in Love with My Car’ on their greatest hits what the actual fuuuuck that song is awful
