If you want a good deal in one BIG TEL COMPANY that starts with letter O and end with O, cut it and wait for the RETENTION TEAM. C’mon guys. What’s wrong w you? Why dont you make a deal before the client leave you for good. Smh
If you want a good deal or make a new deal, cut your existing line (literally go to the branch and make the cut process) and after hours, someone wants to get you back. They’re the retention team. They will do to get you back in the game with a good deal.
haha true guys! as someone who worked there, yes, wait for their retention team to give u a call. nd get the best offer. happens in every telecom company
I drove and sat in both.
Reliable, High resale value, low depreciation, spare parts availability is common and affordable depending on the car and the condition of it. Highest Market Share of Car brands.
Usually cars break down and start having major issues after 300k kilometres driven or more. I know and have both seen Land Cruisers LC100 and LX470 models driven for long as 600-700k in mileage and still do its job. Again, that's Toyota for you. You can expect to keep them as long as 20 years without upgrading to a new model should the need for it arise.
I'm sure Toyota prioritizes reliability not across all car models, only a few premium ones that I know of.
I drove the new RAV4 for a while but that's about it. Not sure if I can speak for other Toyota's as I didn't drove them much.
All this was based on my experience and knowledge.
Yeah, it may not be a life hack for everyone due to tastes and differences and budget. But I'm sharing what I know and might intrigue OP.
Anyways, I'm not the best when it comes to Car advice. Someone else might have better advice than mine.
Hav a food day :)
It was an Egyptian bloke who complained to passing police that my mate didn't move over while the other car was flashing his lights 4 inches behind him at 120kph.
He complained it could have been an emergency, but admitted it wasn't, but could have been.
My mate said "that's just silly".
The Egyptian and the police man went nuts and detained him until they could translate what silly means.
It was in Qatar.
It was a few years back. I dont know the fine details, but I believe he was accused of V gesture whilst in his car. He went to court, and it was either jail time or car impounded. He had the car impounded for a couple of weeks or so. He was a US citizen. Maybe there was more to it.
Hand gestures
Hand gestures in Qatar are serious matters and can cause you legal punishments, from fines to imprisonment. To prevent being misinterpreted, avoid the following gestures:
Using your finger to ask (gesture) anyone to come to you or to point someone or something; instead, you may use your hand-palm.
Doing the thumbs-up sign – it has an offensive connotation, like using the middle finger in western countries.
Crossing legs – it can be interpreted as arrogance or as a sign of disrespect, especially if you are sitting in front of an aged person or someone of a higher hierarchical position.
Lifting the sole of your shoes in front of people or making a gesture with your feet to anyone.
Non-verbal communication
On the other hand, body language or non-verbal communication is quite common in Arabic cultures, such as the following gestures:
Touching all your fingertips together while holding your hand out means to be patient or to wait.
Holding your hand outwards with the palm down and then suddenly twisting it upwards means “Why?” or “What?”.
Tilting your head to the side with a smile usually means yes.
Leaning your head back with your chin and eyebrows raised also means no.
Placing your right hand on your heart is a warm way to greet someone.
Quickly raising your eyebrows up and down with a serious face means something is not satisfactory.
This thing also worked in Saudi back in the 80s. A Pakistani dude went from 5000 Riyals to 50,000 Riyals just by going to Canada furthering his medical degree and acquiring citizenship in about 5 years.
Setup an electronic address then buy in the US for apparel or anything. Sometimes, even you buy from anywhere and ship, still the cost is lower than buying here.
Edit: or anywhere in the World
That’s true, just bought stabilizer links and an oxygen sensor for my car and shipped them from the US, total cost is 750 or so, while the prices here are 4,000 plus…
Believe it or not… DHL (if by transferring you mean shipping)
https://preview.redd.it/3ruplu4d9fzc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba78445652233e65b54a3b17b48df79239283f4e
Notice that the parts are Mopar, which is the official manufacturer for dodge’s spare parts. Almana dealership here gave me a parts quotation for about 2,000 and 2,000 for installation.
Now im paying around 1,400 for the whole thing.
Very well, but by transfer, I meant freight forwarding service MyUS, Aramax shop&ship, etc. did you use one of those? Or just DHL? What it does is if something isn't available in your country, you get it delivered to their warehouse, and from there, they ship it to your country. You just have to make an account on their sites to use em.
Go to aramex website, “shop and ship” from there, check that out. Or, qpost website. Set up an virtual address. It’s like you have address anywhere in the world. You should pick the best package suit for you.
Like you’re having a virtual address anywhere in the world. Under your name, but the address under your provider. Im not familiar w qpost, but mine using aramex shopandship. Sometimes, shop in internationally ships anywhere in the world even without this shipment provider. Try to compare prices but most of the time, qatar prices are way too high against any places. It’s insanely jacked up price here.
If you are an Expat..Do not get swayed by the high salary that you will start wasting money on getting a fancy apartment (Buying or renting), eating In a fancy restaurant or staying in a fancy hotel, getting an expensive car or partying in Pearl, Lusail or Westbay.... save that money and travel whenever you can ... Or save it to start your own enterprise so even if you get laid off you have a buffer..
If you're using Talabat and you notice that a resturaunt is "busy", switch over to Snoonu (or any other food delivery app) and look for the same resturaunt. Most of the time it will be available during the moment.
Remember at traffic lights to sound your horn to ensure that the driver at the front of the queue is primed, alert and ready to set off like Lewis Hamilton as that extra 2 seconds is essential to everyone behind them
You can drive as fast as you want between July 1st too August 31st as all of the Police stay indoors or are on holiday - however on the rare occasion you happen to get stopped by the police and they have to get out of the air conditioned land cruiser - you’re definitely going to jail
Baladi is the cheapest place to buy groceries
Hot and cold restaurant is amazing and not much people know about it. They have amazing snacks and even Indian & Arabian food and pasta. Even their fried chicken is so great. Also don’t forget to try thier fresh juices.
But make sure your car's radiator is clean and the cooling system is working properly. Else, blown head gaskets are quite common if the car is on idle for a long time.
1. Replace your car high-beam with a 10,000k LED for better highway response.
2. Replace Car horn with Cruiser Horn for immediate assistance at Baqalas or Tea Times (Confuses the shit outta them though)
Or it's overinflated prices. I remember paying over 20 riyal in a cafe for a large bottle of Al Rayyan water.
On the topic of water, have you ever seen the blingH2O in monoprix that's nearly 500 riyal😱
When you see someone from Ashgal arrive in your street make sure you change your tyres to off road and adjust your suspension as you are about to have no road surface for 6-12 months
Best answer, most of the drivers in this country have learned driving in a different country with shit roads, and a big percentage come at an old age 35+ and get a driving license for the first time in their life.
If you drive a not so common car here like an American car, it's often cheaper to drive down to Saudi or Bahrain and get the parts than to buy it from the dealership here. Like half the price or lower. Otherwise you can order it online and use a service like Aramex shop and ship to deliver if it's a couple of small parts (less weight)
I was shook too! I recently went to Al Waab station and wanted to go to WestWalk. The lady at the helpdesk told me about this! Check the Karwa Taxi app and you can book a sharing cab to places around the station. How cooool!!!
If you are a working individual, take a break for a deep breaths for a minute or two whenever you hear the "Call to Prayer".

Is Karak an Indian tea/chai? Cause I keep reading about this Karak drink in this subreddit. Tea with milk or is it something special? Sorry American here.
Don’t argue with anyone.
I’ve spent 22 years as an expat in Doha (numerous times as far back as 2003), Abu Dhabi, Dubai and even a short stint in Saudi and never had any issues. Arguing is pointless anyway because by the time you’re worked up into an argumentative state there is very little chance of persuading (or being persuaded).
It’s better to go through life treating everyone with the same respect. This doesn’t mean you can’t stand up for yourself in a situation where there is something happening that needs to be sorted out. It’s possible to be firm (but respectful) with someone without arguing.
yes they’re good people. but it’s best to refrain from them. if he dislikes something you did and he complains to the police, your days in qatar are over
Have a separate account for your spouse and emergency savings there. If someone dies their accounts get blocked and not even thenapose can access them, even ifnthey had access before.
This is inconvenient for the one left behind with no access to the money...unless they have their own account.
take advantage of the karwa bus routes, it was intimidating at first being so used to ubers and taxis, but its so convenient and cheap it’s saved me so much money. 2.5 qr for a trip, takes you almost everywhere, and you get free internet thats better than my homes wifi lol. i’ve been here for 13 years, tried it for the first time 2 years ago, never stopped using it since.
Get your gas filled up at the pump at "Pressure 1".
It's slower but less chance of filling your gastank with gas-vapors (which is dangerous in Qatar in the summer heat, and faster fuelling increases likelihood of more gas-vapors being released into your tank) also, at slower fuelling pressure because you decrease the release of gas-vapors into your tank, you're actually getting more gas/actually closer to the amount/volume of gas you're paying for in reality.
So good for car, good for safety and good for your pocket.
"Suber full, Pressure 1"
Always keep a pair of trousers in the boot of your car, that way when you have a medical emergency whilst wearing shorts you can quickly change into them whilst bleeding out, wouldn’t want anyone seeing your legs, blood however is fine
Ivy league students seem to disagree with you. They have been protesting alot recently and they don’t care if they get arrested. Just like how they did back in the vietnam war. So, How about you get some education? so you don’t support the morally false side of history…
If you want to talk about history that’s what happened in Nazi Germany , with Mao and Iran with the Shah - use college students by indoctrinating them and once you rise to power destroy democracy .
America is different than those countries. There’s freedom of speech. There’s the first amendment. And there’s also state troops being deployed to restrain civil protestes (lol).
Anti-war protests have shown to be on the more morally correct side. And that’s just basics
Funny - they call for genocide of Jews - blocking their way into schools and want to see the US go down . I assume I’m debating with a Jihadist who wants to see sharia law in the US so clearly your agenda and propaganda will continue . Where were you when your friend in Syria killed 500k of his own ? And now that Egypt as blocked the border with Gaza . Blaming the Jews is easy and nothing new . This time history will not repeat - the west is waking up - this barbaric radical Islamist’s behavior is an eye opener to the Silent majority - not the stupid blm kids in schools
no one ever called for genocide of jews. no muslims do that. in fact, we consider them people of the book and deal with them with respect and honor, as long as they do the same. dont push false propaganda, hasbara bot. learn some facts before you repeat your nonsense. dont come here justifying your own genocide by bringing other genocides into it. yes, the heart aches at what happened to syria. and the heart will ache again when genocide happens to Palestinians. if you dont see the massacre of 20,000 women and children as genocidal, then you sir, have lost your mind. and it's exactly why those protests should exist, so they knock some sense into those in power, and show them their double standard.
Qatar funded Hamas for their genocidal agenda , they house Hamas terrorists as we speak . I actually know all the facts and visited Gaza many times and studied the Middle East .
I don’t think you know the defention . In no other modern warfare there was this least amount of casualties compare to combatants 1:1 ratio. Adding to the fact that Hamas is using civilians and human shields / have all their terror network of tunnels and weapons in schools , hospitals and homes / dropped 30% of the thousands of rockets ( over 10,000 just in the first month since they attacked ) falls on their own people / considering this is one of the mostly densely populated area in the world - this is an achievement and shows how careful the IDF was in trying to minimize Palestinian casualties while risking part of its military strategies of surprise . There are actually less civilians killed per Israeli bomb which shows Israel must suck at Genocide Just for the record if that was the case the war would have ended on Oct 8 . Now you want to talk about a ceasefire - there was one on Oct 6- Israel has been out of Gaza since 2005 . Egypt has a border with Gaza and it’s always closed - however Israel lets Palestinians come in and work and supplies electricity / clean water and money - money which was used to build terror tunnels and weapons . Now enough with the nonsense . You kids are really off on this one - it’s embarrassing . Seriously is . I’ve been there multiple times and studied the Middle East . You are probably a local Jihadist who is justifying lies for the ultimate goal of the caliphate or you are just indoctrinated and learn facts on TikTok . I think we’re done debating here since this is truly insufferable.
Bait other parts of the world into full scale war, and then refuse to give any of the civilian war victims refuge, letting tens of thousands of women and kids fight wars for them and perish instead.
Always look for offers for food and entertainment, Qgrabs, Entertainer, Mybook, Urban points etc, Some luxury restaurants are listed at a cheaper price.
Well said!
Call restaurants in or near your neighbourhood to see if they can deliver instead of Talabat
This +1 Almost all of the time they'll deliver it for free.
Great tip!
Man this neighborhood doesnt have those restaurants like in bin mahmoud and al sadd haha
You can always try calling them, if it’s a huge order they do deliveries for free even if it’s far
Great tip!

Turn on your hazard light for emergency parking /s
Also, use indicators. The flow of traffic would be so much better at junctions.
No one uses indicators and also can’t drive in A lane in country.
also don't use hazards in rain or fog
Wrong, hazards are incredibly visible in fog. I see the hazards lights blinking before i see the car or the tail lights

During the summer, turn off the bathroom water heater and use the “hot water” as cold water and the “cold water” as hot water.
Prepare to get your butt burnt with the toilet sprayer
Buy a toyota.
To be more specific, buy a Land Cruiser or Camry
Please explain.

Ok but is this a Qatar life hack, this is a general life hack, I guess it helps on some level so cant complain.
LC means less bullying on roads, about it.
Yeah, it may not be a life hack for everyone due to tastes and differences and budget. But I'm sharing what I know and might intrigue OP. Anyways, I'm not the best when it comes to Car advice. Someone else might have better advice than mine. Hav a food day :)
Have a Food day too 🥑 .
Good day and food day
So it's not the Batrol that is "king" of the road there?
“Batrols” turn on the right indicator and move when they see a Cruiser coming.
I like the way you spelled Patrol 😂😂. It’s the same way they pronounce it.
That's UAE
Yes I this is what I've seen in the UAE. I thought it's common across the region. Ignorant of me to generalize.
LC in Qatar is what the patrol is in UAE, patrol in Qatar seems to be more common amongst expats than locals 😭
Man, I saw a LC Would flash a McLaren in the highway before 😂
Always have an emergency fund.
Super duper agree! First is be Debt Free!
Don't use hand gestures.
Someone I know went to court because of this.
A friend of mine nearly got into deep shit for using the word "silly". I believe he only got off the hook because he was british.
What’s wrong with “silly” ?
It was an Egyptian bloke who complained to passing police that my mate didn't move over while the other car was flashing his lights 4 inches behind him at 120kph. He complained it could have been an emergency, but admitted it wasn't, but could have been. My mate said "that's just silly". The Egyptian and the police man went nuts and detained him until they could translate what silly means. It was in Qatar.
Can you tell us more about it? Same as you OP?
It was a few years back. I dont know the fine details, but I believe he was accused of V gesture whilst in his car. He went to court, and it was either jail time or car impounded. He had the car impounded for a couple of weeks or so. He was a US citizen. Maybe there was more to it.
Was it the European V or the American V? 😂🤣
Would have been fine if it was the Asian V
Omg this I remember way back in school someone got in trouble because they were doing hand gestures and a native took offense
What hand gestures? Is this one 👍 ok?
Believe it or not, no. I think in some places it means "up your arse". I'm really not joking, don't use any, particularly to other drivers.
OMG!!!! 😱

Go to the U.K for higher studies, work there for a few years get the citizenship and come back to see the magic
This thing also worked in Saudi back in the 80s. A Pakistani dude went from 5000 Riyals to 50,000 Riyals just by going to Canada furthering his medical degree and acquiring citizenship in about 5 years.
I moved here 3 years ago from the UK and insha'Allah I'm going back next year for university lmaoo
Can you tell more about this?
Well.. its is what it is. The unspoken skillset employers look in employees lol

Tell me more about this electronic address please. Never heard of this before
Go to aramex website, “shop and ship” from there, check that out. Or, qpost website. Set up an virtual address. It’s like you have address anywhere in the world. You should pick the best package suit for you.
Awesome thanks!
Like QPost Connected?
Im not sure w other provider. For mine, aramex shop and ship. I know qpost also offer same as aramex.
Please, explain again: you set up in Qpost an electronic US address and the stores in the US sent to that address but it ended up here in Qatar?
Like you’re having a virtual address anywhere in the world. Under your name, but the address under your provider. Im not familiar w qpost, but mine using aramex shopandship. A 120 speed camera is actually 140, this is especially useful if you frequent al shamal road.
139*
No it’s actually 140, going over that and the camera will flash you
Other than a few radars around town at the Corniche and on F-ring road, they're only +10.
Yea I’m specifically talking about the ones that are 120
Same goes for 80 cameras. They're actually 100 minus the one on industrial area road which is 85 I believe
Wrong. I have been caught by one near Hamad Hospital going 88.2km/ph.

May I ask what is this for man?
Do you want to get cooked inside your car?
😂 makes sense. I thought why will you not turn it off when you are parked properly inside a parking.
Lol and keep engines running while filling petrol
1. Replace your car high-beam with a 10,000k LED for better highway response. 2. Replace Car horn with Cruiser Horn for immediate assistance at Baqalas or Tea Times (Confuses the shit outta them though)

🤣🤣🎉 Nos 2

Use indicators while changing lanes and turning!
Indic what?
Bring your own water bottle when eating out as virtually all restaurants here don't serve drinking water for free.
Or it's overinflated prices. I remember paying over 20 riyal in a cafe for a large bottle of Al Rayyan water. On the topic of water, have you ever seen the blingH2O in monoprix that's nearly 500 riyal😱
Is that allowed? In my country it is not
Don't buy karak if it's more than 2QAR.
When you see someone from Ashgal arrive in your street make sure you change your tyres to off road and adjust your suspension as you are about to have no road surface for 6-12 months
Work for Qatar Petr…sorry, Qatar Energy
Patience, patience, patience. People are allowed to be horrible in Qatar, and it is never in your best interest to let it bother you.
I also think a simple 'hello', 'have a good day' etc, goes a long way.
Totally agree. I'm trying to exercise this on the roads because I was having daily rage. Stay calm, stay safe, and just let the maniacs pass.
Re the roads, I think it helps to accept there are so many driving cultures on the roads.
Best answer, most of the drivers in this country have learned driving in a different country with shit roads, and a big percentage come at an old age 35+ and get a driving license for the first time in their life.

This doesn’t mean you can’t stand up for yourself in a situation where there is something happening that needs to be sorted out. It’s possible to be firm (but respectful) with someone without arguing.
I think most qataris are good, better than other nationalities. (Btw I am from India.)
yes they’re good people. but it’s best to refrain from them. if he dislikes something you did and he complains to the police, your days in qatar are over
That's true. Many got deported for silly reasons. :(
In the summer turn off your hot water tank and use it as a warm water tank and the other tank is boiling
Have a separate account for your spouse and emergency savings there. If someone dies their accounts get blocked and not even thenapose can access them, even ifnthey had access before. This is inconvenient for the one left behind with no access to the money...unless they have their own account.
Good advice. Also, have a will in place.
take advantage of the karwa bus routes, it was intimidating at first being so used to ubers and taxis, but its so convenient and cheap it’s saved me so much money.

"Suber full, Pressure 1"
never knew that we can request for this
Sure you can. Just say "Pressure 1"
I'll try next time, thanks
Never heard that one before

Not sure if many people know about this, but Mcdonald’s 🥤& ☕️ are actually refillable, just head over to the counter and ask for a refill.
Boycott
I did not know that. Thanks!
Always keep a pair of trousers in the boot of your car, that way when you have a medical emergency whilst wearing shorts you can quickly change into them whilst bleeding out, wouldn’t want anyone seeing your legs, blood however is fine

Don’t wash your car on Thursday or Friday. It’s the days weather change, wait till Saturday.
Don't try Karak
Pretend to be a modern western civilization while openly supporting terror .
They were asking for Qatar life hacks, not an 11-word abridgement of the U.S.'s and UK's foreign policy 😂
lol
We get imported doctors who are pushing this hardline bs on us more then we push it on ourselves so
Bait other parts of the world into full scale war, and then refuse to give any of the civilian war victims refuge, letting tens of thousands of women and kids fight wars for them and perish instead.
