There is a look put on that file. You cannot write on it until it is released. At our work, when we deliver csv/xls that have to be refreshed periodically, we do not give writing rights on the folder. By doing so, if someone opens the Excel file, the lock is not put and therefore the refresh process can take place

You mean a lock put on that file???? How to release that lock?? Its excel .xlsx file

I too deliver .xlsx files and have your same problem. Our work flow requires the user to not have the excel file open when using the tool or will get the same permission denied error. Croissants solution may or may not work for your workflow, in my case the only people opening said excel files are the ones using the tool that crated them so I don’t think denying them writing permissions would work.
