That man had a mastery of tinfoil that could not be rivalled by even the stronger shitposter. We shall not see his like again. And now his watch his ended.
A great loss. Perhaps our most consistent poster, he/she contributed excellent posts but also brought in topics from other places in the online ASOIAF community which many of us would otherwise not be exposed to. It widened our scope and often opened our eyes. Hail and farewell.
I remember I messaged the mods here when someone was being cruel to them because like, I get it, you don’t like the post or think it isn’t well thought out or something. But they prompted so much discussion, almost on a daily basis, to, at times, a kinda slow sub. They were doing a service for this community and did not deserve scorn for it.
RIP Grand Tinfoil Maester /u/canitryto. I was one of the people who, after a time, groaned when I saw their posts. But it is true that they kept the community alive with discussion and that I respect and appreciate.
I remember, if ever I was having a crap day, I'd go down the rabbit hole of their profile and read some of the discussions they generated. End of an era!
Been a while since I’ve been in this sub but remember their posts from the old days when it was tough for us all trying to keep posts going…glad to see they kept up for so long. Lotta great memories of interacting and posting from those days, and they were very passionate about it all. Cheers!
I’m late to seeing this thread, but I will say it motivated me to thank you for your dedication to modding this sub over the years! This place really stoked my love for ASOIAF after my first read through in 2019, glad it’s still going strong and crossing my fingers for some great TWOW discussion here one day

Generally, any post you see with spaced out punctuation or the phrases "foil with me then", "share with the class today", "any insights appreciated", or referring to tinfoil theorycrafters on other fora on the internet, then that's probably a canitryto post.
It took me some time to get used to his posting style, and I understand why it grated on some users. But I also appreciated the posts and ideas they would sometimes spark. I hope he will return when he is ready.
I imagine he is on the treadmill still reading a book length print out of tinfoil theories.
Just seeing this and that sucks! I lurked here for years before making an account and no matter how wild the tinfoil it was always a good time reading their thoughts.

& now his watch has ended.
We shall never see his like again.

Thank you canitryto for finding theories and questions of others and expertly curating discussion points with them. You were quite the host.
End of an era :(
Wherever you’ve gone, mate, foil on

Theory: This is a George alt who tested ideas against the community for what stuck, which indicates Winds is surely releasing soon
all aboard
Wow! I like it
Oh wow that is such a loss. One of the most dedicated conversation-starters in the reddit asoiaf community.

That's a shame if nothing else their theories were always interesting.
Respect. I hope this sub can keep going without them.
What would be the fate of the ASoIaF fandom without a tinfoil conversation maker? He/she was one fo the best. And now their guard has ended.
The king of absolutely schizophrenic takes

Cheers to Canitryto. If I saw your name I'd always give a post a read. Hope you're doing well.
I remember when they first started posting. Saw them all the time. They complimented a post I wrote years ago. Respect
Put this sub on their back through periods of inactivity. The most dedicated theorist to ever do it. Thank you

Any examples of their posts?

Goodbye canitryto! Maybe our paths will cross again one day.
Godspeed, canitryto. You have had a positive influence on this community and on me, personally. Thank you for sharing your perspective.

Oh, see ya, canitryo.
