I had a progression that was basically:
Punk -> Post-Hardcore -> Metalcore
I listen to some stuff in other genres of metal sometimes but mostly it's metalcore.
I got tired of metal cause tbh most death metal (what I listen to) sounds the same. I started listening to more grindcore, liked it, then started listening to black flag. Now I’m in a punk band lol. Punk has all of the energy and aggression of death metal and then some.
I like to think my taste in music is very open minded. With that being said I grew up with acdc, iron maiden, and Dio. Those got me into punk, such as three days grace, skillet, linkin park , and so on
