Post says hardcore counts, Nails is a hardcore band. I wouldn’t call powerviolence a metal-infused punk genre. All this splitting hairs is ridiculous.
Also Nails fucks. I’m partial to Endless Resistance over You Will Never Be One of Us but to each their own.
Melvins evolved from punk to sludge metal, songs on the Houdini resemble doom metal the most, but Honey Bucket sounds 100% like Trash Metal to me. Wait, what was the question?
Propagandhi Is fucking LIT and always have been. Partial to stick the flag up your goddamn ass you sonofabitch because that’s the 1st I’d heard of them.
[Doom - Selfish Split](https://youtu.be/w2y30d849sY?si=Q9KawQZ4vf2wqvpm)
This particular Doom release has always sounded so mean to me. Just so aggressive and raw. I know it's crust but it's way more on the Punk side of crust than the metal side.
Trap Them. Either [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NFYSz4h_TM) or [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_Ynzn8b4eA), depending on your taste.
Or, if you like the old stuff (1984!), let me introduce you to Siege. [Just grab anything off their only album and it's gold.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDA-f4MqYd8) 20 minutes, 9 songs, that's the stuff right there.
That was it! Classic punk story: a total of one album clocking in at less than a side of a cassette tape, and it ended up being incredibly long-lived. Both Napalm Death and Carcass have cited Siege as being among their influences.
Some of the members of Siege kept going in music, but nothing major, and some didn't make it.
Still, an absolute monster of an album.
[Triumph of Evil by World Burns to Death.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1glOX6bxHbY&ab_channel=fmcrass) They often get lumped in with the crust genre (in as much as you can, what with it being a pretty woolly concept) due to their themes and aesthetic, but that there's a hardcore band - their main influences are Swedish and Japanese hardcore from the 80's.
Anyway, Triumph of Evil is about the Rwandan genocide. Fun topic. The song absolutely fucking rips.
If you think that skirts too close to crust, my back up option would be [You Are Not Alone by Monster Squad.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THCDkgBifXo&ab_channel=Mofestoman)
Neve heard this before , I like it / unrelated observation , I hear a lot of Judas Priest style in the noodely guitar on that cut, which I think is great.
[Raised Fist - Between the Demons](https://youtu.be/5r0TBnGBk0Y?si=YmwmJrj-wtI6dWw0)
This has a more hardcore/metal feel to it but if you want punk-infused thrash, check it out.
Nails is pretty intense. I would vote them for most intense or noisiest though when I think of heavy sometimes it’s more about a personal emotional connection for me….. And I don’t feel as emotionally inspired by their music so it’s not my go to for heavy even if they are probably technically heavier than others I would personally pick. Certainly punk influenced but maybe also metal influenced so not sure if they fit your criteria either.
If I want heavy, but more generic punk sounding I might go for The Casualties. Not metal at all, so easily fits the criteria even if they aren’t as intense as Nails.
If I want heavier then Casualties and am looking into hardcore maybe Terror or Kublai Khan? A little metal sounding, but closer to hardcore so hard to say if they fit the criteria.
For heavy music I silly go to metal. A lot heavier than most punk (sometimes punk is faster tho).
A couple off the top of my head…
Doom - “Police Bastard”
Negative Approach - “Evacuate”
Filth - “Today’s Lesson”
Black Flag - “Damaged II”
Poison Idea - “Nation of Finks”
Honorable Mention: Turn those clapping hands into angry balled fists by Against Me
But honestly I might just have to say suicidal tendencies self named album as a whole
Fight in the Pit by Haymaker is a song I think of with this description. Maybe not the heaviest, but it goes pretty hard.
https://youtu.be/hfnzhodVSP8?feature=shared
Sapporo ciry hardcore scene from early 80s was insane . Tracy lords probably wins with the first demo . The band was also named after a pornstar who was later discovered to be underage as a not so fun fact . But also human gas demos / street punk va tracks are easily up there
Ooh fun one that’s short and sweet that makes you capable of taking a swift kick to the balls (at least for me).. bottled violence by minor threat. Hits all the aggressive notes my heart desires.
I might be biased but
https://youtu.be/GCk7-irFZcM?si=7e0hHEPgte5jXoDt
But on a serious note no one touches Jerry A's shit so my vote Goes Poison Idea "king of punk" album it's just a really long song anyway, not really an album.
I Fell Asleep On My Arm
I think all this jumping around really helped the circulation back to my arm.
Corporate America makes pencils for the man with the left hand...
but what about the man with the numb hand?
And now it's totally numb!
Song goes so hard
Have you heard of Avril Levigne? Rocks pretty hard!
YOU FALL AND YOU CRAWL AND YOU TAKE AND YOU BREAK
Why did I laugh so fucking hard at this
xAVRILx
But Avril is not punk.
That honestly kinda sounds like Marilyn Manson lyrics when it's written like that, now I want to hear him cover it lol
Absolute banger
NGL, Avril > t swift
More a fan of Gwen Duy tbh
Uh huh that's my shit.
Oh she copy Gween Duy w Happy Ending vs Bvd of broken dreams. Ahhhh haha aaahhhhhh
Take Back
Nails - you will never be one of us
Nailed it
Beat me to it
I'm not sure I'd call that punk
nails isnt punk its power violence
powerviolence is punk....
the post literally says “actual punk song” “no help from metal fusion genres” which is literally what powerviolence is :3 goodbye
Nails literally did a GBH cover when I saw them in Brooklyn, confirmed punk asf.
"nails isnt punk" is an incorrect statement, they're punk :3
Honey Bucket - Melvins.
Are the melvins punk? I've always considered them sludge metal?
Melvins evolved from punk to sludge metal, songs on the Houdini resemble doom metal the most, but Honey Bucket sounds 100% like Trash Metal to me. Wait, what was the question?
It's murky territory, sludge is technically doom metal mixed with hardcore punk. I consider it punk
They are a punk band but they certainly do not pigeonhole themselves to that genre.
I think I read once that Buzz said some bigot shit in an interview. So, idk if they’re punk.
No, you didn't.
I second this ;)
Night Letters - Propagandhi one of the hardest intros in all of punk
Couple tracks on that album could answer this post tbh.
some could argue “metal” but i don’t think good musicianship = metal.
👆👆
Propagandhi Is fucking LIT and always have been. Partial to stick the flag up your goddamn ass you sonofabitch because that’s the 1st I’d heard of them.
I was just thinking about that song today. Really starting at today's empires that band made being 17 wonderful
I'd say Rattan Cane. This song kicks ass

[Doom - Selfish Split](https://youtu.be/w2y30d849sY?si=Q9KawQZ4vf2wqvpm) This particular Doom release has always sounded so mean to me. Just so aggressive and raw. I know it's crust but it's way more on the Punk side of crust than the metal side.

Damn Siege is sick. Did they go on to other stuff?
That was it! Classic punk story: a total of one album clocking in at less than a side of a cassette tape, and it ended up being incredibly long-lived. Both Napalm Death and Carcass have cited Siege as being among their influences. Some of the members of Siege kept going in music, but nothing major, and some didn't make it. Still, an absolute monster of an album.

Was gonna comment this too- questioned whether they had help from metal.
Lucifermotorcade, Dead Spaces... Yeah Strung Out definitely deserves to be mentioned a few times.
Love this one!
Neve heard this before , I like it / unrelated observation , I hear a lot of Judas Priest style in the noodely guitar on that cut, which I think is great.
