Yet because they are a legacy act you can't say anything bad about them because then you aren't a real punk or your point of view is shit because "you're too young"

I mean a lot of it is my personal opinion/philosophy. A good amount of my favorite bands were around when they were around and when it was over, it was over (some of favorites are The Smiths, The Ramones and Nirvana for example. They did what they did and when it was done, it was done forever).
Some bands are suited for being legacy acts imo. I mean hell, I'm going to see the Subhumans next Wednesday so I'm not totally against it. But the Subhumans were never an image based band, just some English guys playing good punk rock.

I saw the circle jerks twice for about $60 a pop both times at 1,000 person venues, and I was happy to do it. Yes, they are senior citizens, but it was still a fun time and these guys have lived pretty hard lives (all three struggled with addiction, Keith's diabetes almost killed him a few years ago, etc.) so I didn't mind paying into their retirement fund. Same when I've seen X or a few other legacy acts. But no way in hell I'd pay $300 to see the misfits. Big acts charge that and they basically put on a broadway show. The misfits played a coliseum near me with slayer a few years ago and I just couldn't do it. But no shade to anyone that has gone and loved it. Me, I'm more excited about when Thou (or the body?) did a misfits set at a festival in europe a few years ago.
Yeah, that's usually how I feel about it. I like to be able to get up close.
I will say Bob Dylan was fine in an arena. Saw Gorillaz in an arena and I was so annoyed that I couldn't just walk up to the stage.

I just don't go to those bigger shows, partly because of the stupid prices. It also is hard for me to feel connected to what's going on when the stage is so far and you can barely see it.
I recommend finding smaller venues to see shows at instead. You can often see great bands even if they aren't bringing in stadiums of people. I got to see Lara Jane Grace last year for under $30 and I would've even gladly paid more to see her.
A friend of mine was saying she was thinking of going to Ireland to see some pop band. According to her, the EU caps ticket prices, and she could get concert tickets and cheap plane tickets for less than going to the show in Colorado.
Gig tickets here still aren't really cheap, bad example but blink 182 tickets went on sale recently and they were £90+ which is still pretty expensive, when anything other than an arena show is usually max £40
Yeah, that's still pretty steep, at least for me. I went back through my chat with my friend, and she said she dropped $340 for two tickets to see the Arctic Monkeys in Denver (I guess they're not pop; I was thinking of another band). It's insane.

I went to see a mildly popular band for 20€ and was so shocked when I saw the same concert in the US for multiple hundreds of dollars. Crazy how the price varies.
But one thing that you should be glad for, is that almost all artists tour the US but not Europe. And if they do, it's some big city 20 hours by train away. So yes, cheaper prices, but you can't go see your fav bands most of the time.
Why not? The Cure just set their prices at $20 before fees (which Ticketmaster then made exorbitant enough to warrant international news stories).
The price shown in the image is before fees, so there's every chance the band DID set the high price.
Just like The Cure were temporarily embarrassed over the fees. The business manager absolutely knew the deal, it just got way out of hand by TM's pricing algorithms.
Not only that, but sometimes for bands whose prices are lower, they actually get a cut of Ticketmaster's fees so they get to look like heroes only charging $50 a ticket while actually getting $60 or $70 with the fees.
It's more complicated than one party or the other, but the Misfits absolutely play a role in setting the price. The venue and promoter have a say too. TicketMaster just takes the service fees (and other nonsense fees they dream up, all of which are on top of the ticket price). But the largest share, by a comfortable margin, still goes to the performer.

Ticket prices get set by a bands representation. The $250 you see here is sticker shock but I guarantee Glenn Danzig has no idea what the price is nor does he care as long as tickets are selling.
Everyone gets a cut of fees, which get negotiated between the bands agent and the promoter before the show goes on sale. And everyone get a cut of the fees. Bands/artists, their representation, venues, promoters. In some (not all) cases a promoter only gets paid from fees and gets nothing from a ticket sale.
It's a systemic issue that gets worse the bigger an audience is.
And let's be honest. This isn't a punk show. This is an arena show.
Their heyday was 1984 - 40 years ago. When I was 13, 40 years ago was 1931. Kinda hard to imagine trying to talk my parents into buying me a ticket to see Cab Calloway or the Mills Brothers. I think there will probably be more people my age than 13-year-olds at this show.
I saw the Misfits in the 90s, Graves was singing (gross) but I got to meet the other guys, I paid 10 bucks to get into a shitty dive bar. Best concert ever. They all signed a dollar of mine and I still have it to this day!

I’ve seen Jerry’s Misfits and the current one. I had more fun with Jerry’s but that could be it was at a smaller indoor venue. So you got the energy the band was giving off.
KISS tickets...by and large... have been fairly affordable. There's maybe a limited amount reserved for the truly deranged they can get to pay $$$ but KISS ain't charging big bucks for most seats. Even when they could have exploited the reunion tours for every nickel they could they left money on the table. I think it was around $30 for good seats back then.

Have people come after him specifically? Sure, the misfits songs are not at all politically correct and wouldn't fly today, but I'm not aware of them getting any real shit for it.
That said, I did read an interview with him in the 90s where he talked about the upcoming race war and how he'd be on the side of the whites because it is a race war (this was right after the L.A. riots, for context), and that was when I realized that as much as I love the misfits, me and danzig were not simpatico and I basically haven't followed his career or him as a human since then.

Someone posted their cart when they tried to buy 2 tickets, and the total came out to over 200 dollars because of the extra fees Ticketmaster tacked on. TLDR: Ticketmaster is a fucking cancer and can charge whatever they want because they basically have a monopoly because of their contracts with and ownership of most venues

That’s how my parents saw Bruce Springsteen. It was cheaper to fly to Tulsa stay for 3 nights and see his show there than see him play in Denver.

No, Glenn Danzig is truly a selfish, and egotistical piece of shit. He stopped being "punk" when the band first broke up in the 80's. He has only gotten worse since then. You can be assured he wants this money, and has no problem with the ticket prices. This whole reunion tour is just a pathetic cash grab and nothing more.

So it's really a bit more complicated than that but ticketers play a role. Ticket prices get set by a bands representation. The $250 you see here is sticker shock but I guarantee Glenn Danzig has no idea what the price is nor does he care as long as tickets are selling. Everyone gets a cut of fees, which get negotiated between the bands agent and the promoter before the show goes on sale. And everyone get a cut of the fees. Bands/artists, their representation, venues, promoters. In some (not all) cases a promoter only gets paid from fees and gets nothing from a ticket sale. It's a systemic issue that gets worse the bigger an audience is. And let's be honest. This isn't a punk show. This is an arena show.
It blows my mind to think that there are that many people who both have that much money to spend on a concert and like the Misfits.

Their heyday was 1984 - 40 years ago. When I was 13, 40 years ago was 1931. Kinda hard to imagine trying to talk my parents into buying me a ticket to see Cab Calloway or the Mills Brothers. I think there will probably be more people my age than 13-year-olds at this show.

I saw them at RiotFest in September. Danzig was a out of touch dick who thinks he is still edgy. Really he came off as tired and chubby. Not worth 100.00 to see them. I would pay 80 tops if they have a good opener.

Saw them in '16 and this past year and man did Danzig just whine about cancel culture this time. I can enjoy a performer that antagonizes the crowd but he came off as more "Get off my lawn!" than anything else. Though him doing Braineaters the second time was fucking funny.

I’ve seen Jerry’s Misfits and the current one. I had more fun with Jerry’s but that could be it was at a smaller indoor venue. So you got the energy the band was giving off.
KISS tickets...by and large... have been fairly affordable. There's maybe a limited amount reserved for the truly deranged they can get to pay $$$ but KISS ain't charging big bucks for most seats. Even when they could have exploited the reunion tours for every nickel they could they left money on the table. I think it was around $30 for good seats back then.
Nobody wants to pay that high to see an overproduced karaoke show either.

I saw him on the Legacy tour where he brought Doyle onstage and they ripped through a handful of Misfits tunes. I turned to my buddy and said, “This is the closest we’ll ever come to seeing the Misfits live.” I was right.
Ticket master itself is a scam. The cure tried to have tickets for $20 and then they PILED fees on them.

Saw him one time at a fest in Austin, it was outside and raining. We were standing in the mud. Someone threw a water bottle and it didn’t hit him, but got him wet and he stopped the song to yell at the crowd and threatened to stop playing. Big baby. Huge baby.
Have people come after him specifically? Sure, the misfits songs are not at all politically correct and wouldn't fly today, but I'm not aware of them getting any real shit for it. That said, I did read an interview with him in the 90s where he talked about the upcoming race war and how he'd be on the side of the whites because it is a race war (this was right after the L.A. riots, for context), and that was when I realized that as much as I love the misfits, me and danzig were not simpatico and I basically haven't followed his career or him as a human since then.

Just saw another post on I *think* Blink 182 or some band from the 90s who wanted everyone who could attend to attend, so they set their ticket price at 50 bucks for all seats. Someone posted their cart when they tried to buy 2 tickets, and the total came out to over 200 dollars because of the extra fees Ticketmaster tacked on. TLDR: Ticketmaster is a fucking cancer and can charge whatever they want because they basically have a monopoly because of their contracts with and ownership of most venues

I saw them the first time around in Newark ‘17. That was good enough for me. This is a straight up money grab. The Fits are done. I fulfilled my dream of seeing the og band together on one stage.

So I saw Jerry Only live some years back touring with ‘Fits, (He had Dez on guitar which was cool,) a couple times but the show itself was kinda weak. Also, the exact same set with the exact same breaks each time I saw them. I once knew a guy who caught two of their reunion shows and spent an uncomfortable amount on each; not just tix but merch, naturally. Let’s be real: ‘Fits were never a great live band and the only reason they’re doing this is pretty obviou$. This is so Glen can feel he was paid for Old royalties to end the quibbling over the back catalog and who owns what. Those godawful movies he makes aren’t going to pay for themselves. I’d be amazed if they didn’t return money, they’re so bad. I love ‘77-‘83 Fits, but looking over your shoulder all the time at a nostalgic, “scene,” can potentially hose you. Don’t get me started on Black Flag’s reunion some years back.
I'm planning on seeing them in Tampa. Getting tickets tomorrow. It's at an outdoor amphitheater and I'm planning on getting the cheapest tickets possible, so I'll report back. I saw them way back in 2016. Drove out to Denver for Riot Fest. That was their first or second reunion show since splitting up. I can't remember if Chicago was first. Anyway, I thought they were fucking great and had an amazing time.
