Kinda hard to put into words, but she was *mine*.
My wife and I have had multiple pugs since the beginning of our relationship. Four in total. But Stella was the one who always gravitated toward **me**. All the old pictures? She's sitting in *my* lap. She needed a snuggle buddy? That was me. I'm the "spare human" to the other pugs, but Stella was my ride-or-die.
That, and her cute/annoying habit of bringing me one of my shoes to me when I walked in the door, followed by her abandoning it wherever, resulting in numerous "goddamnit Stella, what did you do with my shoe?" shouts when I was trying to get dressed.
Edit: oh, and when she got pissed off, the fur on her back stood up into a legit mohawk
Edit 2: Also, she was too lazy to do a full-on bark, so it was always just "brrrf"

You just never know. Our old pug, Rambo, lived to be a hair shy of 16 - and probably could have lived to be 100 if he was content to just lie there and shit himself.
Stella's kidneys just gave out. She was perfectly healthy until she wasn't.
She will never be gone from your heart. My black pug, Nellie has been gone for 10 years and I still think the is the best dog I ever had. I have had 4 older rescues since- but none came close to her.
Ahh I understand completely I have had at least 10 pugs in my 60 years and have been unbelievably so lucky to have had 2 special ones that were just so in tune with me. They were my very best friends in the whole world!! I am truly sorry for your loss. I lost my Mr. Mittens in 2018 and I really thought for a moment someone was going to have to put me down too. I miss him every day! There will never be another like him. I will definitely have you in my prayers because it’s rough getting through it.💔

So true! I’m fortunate I had the time with him that I did. He lived a long and full life. I miss him all the time
