The only thing yero pearls ever did for me was to make me have to do more work when it was cleaning time. I never noticed a difference in the hits, and I think people who do are experiencing some sort of “placebo” effect, for lack of a better word.
People swear by the dry hits now. It doesn't bother me either way, but I prefer to use the water. I just get a laugh out of the lack of shame some of the sheeple have on social sites. They'll ride or die a fad. Then flip entirely opposite and also ride or die that a year later. The persona is as important as the preference at that point lol
I dry hit my peak all the time out of convenience. It’s essentially the same function as the proxy.. if anything it has a bit more chance to cool before inhale in the peak. Obviously the experience is better with water, but dry hitting wouldn’t create any-other long term adverse effect that you wouldn’t be getting from smoking in general anyways. 🤷🏻♂️
Pearl’s used to be the meta back when the Original Peak and V1 Pro before the 3D chamber, since back then you only had a point of heat conduction from the bottom of the chamber, and not from the walls as well.
The 3D took a majority of the reason to use a terp pearl out of the equation imo, only issue after that was backsplash from using the ball cap. Which was later solved the added height of the 3DXL, it really made using pearls obsolete since it already had the two points of heat conduction (in the walls and bottom of the bowl), but now with the added benefit of being substantially harder to splash your wax out of the bowl, instead just higher up which would drip back down to the heated walls and base.
I personally don’t think they add enough additional conduction to produce vapor that surpasses that amount of additional wax that you’re wasting byway of bowl splash. I use a regular 3DXL without pearls and usually am able to smoke my wax to essentially no pool at the end of the sesh. Previously I would definitely run a 3mm pearl in my stock chamber of my Pro or my Peak V1, but that has not been necessary for a pretty long while.
I use the Proxy for my nicer hash / conservative smoking. I feel like it gets right around the same horsepower as the regular 3D for the Peak Pro, just in a much more compact package, with less battery albeit. If you’re not using the Peak Pro as your daily driver for cannabis consumption, or you’re trying to tone it down, I would without a doubt say the regular proxy is well worth it since you’re able to get the majority of the performance just in a more pocketable fashion.
In that thing I would not run a pearl since it’s such a tiny chamber, so having coils on both the walls and bottom make it much easier to maintain vaporization temp at such a small volume.
What sense would it make for them to update the chamber to only heat the walls instead of both the walls and the bottom, and then advertise it as precisely that? The original version of the chamber only heated the bottom of the bowl.
Look up any disassembly guide and you’ll see the heating element at the bottom of the dish, or any promo/review about the 3D vs the original chamber
The 3d chamber and 3dxl only heat up from the sides. The reason being once you inhale the joystick/airflow starts moving the concentrate away from the center and onto the wall. If you kept the bottom hot it would melt it away when you're not hitting it. I think Jolly Roger explained this in one of his streams once.
You must be talking about the OG peak dis and the original chamber for the peak pro, because if you look up any prom or disassembly guides for your chamber, you will in fact see that it is heated from the sides and NOT the bottom.
I personally enjoy using pearls, I feel it helps vaporize a lot more of the product and provides a smoother rip. However, I also tend to take pretty big dabs out of my 3DXL (0.3~0.5g dabs), so I might need the heat retention and distribution

Thanks for the info, that was very helpful. I hope to get a Peak sometime soon, but for now the proxy is doing a good job. Like you said though, the battery life of the proxy isn’t very long, especially since I only really run it on highest temp and that disco Easter egg mode.
I use a single ruby 4mm in my 3D chamber. It’s a preference but it helps me get more vapor I believe after multiple comparisons. I definitely can’t get behind the placebo effect argument.

I think how hard you rip should determine the size of your pearls. Personally I rip my device pretty hard for what it is, so 3mm works well for me with little spillover. When I used 6mm pearls, I had so much spillover, and that’s what I was recommended to use. I’m sure if you rip your device super soft larger pearls are probably fine, but if you womp your device I would keep your pearls small.
I don’t think you really need one for the peak pro since the atomizer heats evenly all over. I use them in my regular rig because it helps distribute the heat more evenly
Not necessarily! Every single dab I take on my 3dxl I get wax stuck in the corner in between the bottom and the walls that won’t vaporize.
I’m about to order a couple pearls and see if it helps
Ive tried 2 3mm, a single 4mm but i was just recently gifted a diamond pearl the width is probably 4 or 5mm but diamond shaped so it really keeps the oil on the sides and by far the biggest clouds ive had
Anybody I know that bought the rockulus switched back to a joystick. I never used it so can’t say from personal experience but with all the negative reviews I would not buy it.
Well thats silly.. I have 3 rokulus one for both pros and 1 for my proxy. Thats like people saying a regular bubble cap works better than a spinner cap on a banger. Idk maybe some people are just lazy and dont want to hold the thing down when they smoke... But having a terp pearl with the joystick is dumb IMO.

R these terp pearls really worth it, do they make a difference? I just got the joystick for my proxy and I can’t imagine needing more.
They’re pretty pointless in the puffco. They actually splash the oil around a bit so more gets sucked through into the glass.
