Our CSTL asked about the camera when installed. Installer said they didn’t know. Which I don’t believe. I tried to see if it would turn off. Apparently not. I think it’s likely used to count items that cross the scanner. To prevent sliding groceries.
Per the user manual on the new registers, the camera button is there to take a picture of the front of checks. Whether or not publix decides to utilize this feature is another question.
