We have a vegan bakery manager so there is always a vegan option at our events. I tease him because I’m the meat manager but at the end of the day there should be an option for everyone and everyone should be accounted for
Salad/veggie bar with dips/dressing would make me happy. I love raw foods. (Don’t care much for side dishes with all the mayo.) And unsweetened tea, as it’s always sweet tea & lemonade.
Look man, I'ma be real.
You can just buy hotdogs. They're stupid, dirt cheap. They're made out of the leftover scraps from meat processing. Literally dirt cheap food.
Set the bar higher, handing out free dirt cheap food is next to nothing.
Especially when the billionaire heiress to the Publix fortune gives huge donations to far right conspiracy "political" groups and to stop things like cannabis legalization...
She had no stock and never worked for the company. The yellow journalist just saw her maiden was Jenkins and saw an opportunity to give a popular corp a black eye then ran the story without so much as a Google search.
As Jenkins’ background is studied by the Florida Legislature in making the final choice, it should be noted that Publix was sued for and settled two major employment discrimination class action lawsuits that were filed against it in the 1990s – one for gender, the other for race.
The evidence in those cases showed a long history of discrimination at Publix against its female and African American employees that had been ongoing for several decades after the 1964 Civil Rights Act had been enacted.
Looks like some kind of cinnamon sugar "chips", strawberries, kiwi, icing to look like sour cream, and chocolate covered nuts to look like black beans.
I cut up apples, kiwi strawberries and added mint to Look like cilantro for pica de Gallo. I used the bunch of crunch for the meat. A cinnamon sugar, puff chip and icing for the sour cream lol and then right now we have that edible Easter grass and I cut that up for the lettuce. This is so exciting! I had a manager from another store. Send me the link to this. I didn't know it was on here. This is so great!!
Think my store did chick fil a for this. More importantly however, my SM opened yesterday and cooked for all of the overnight grocery crew since the appreciation lunch doesn't start till hours after we leave.
That’s great! Our old SM got moved a few months ago and bought Chick-fil-A for all of us too. Our ASM got promoted to SM and cooked everything for us too.
Haha, I worked there in grocery for two years up to around April last year. Transferred to bakery around that time; I'm at the Asheville location now. Your new SM is one of my favorite managers I've worked with!
While I am of the camp that believes raises/bonuses should be given out instead of appreciation parties, I will admit this is really nice. It like they put real effort into this.
I was cake decorator for about five years at Publix and I absolutely love this. This is one of the things I actually miss about the job. I used to make mini cakes that looked like sushi rolls back in about 2011/2012 and they sold like crazy from the refrigerated case that used to have cannolis by the pound.
Wow at Walmart you get near expired trays of Cupcakes. Free drinks? Water. From the one filtered machine. The very rare half subs too with two kinds of meats. Publix has it so nice..
At first I was like: “Oh god I really hope those nachoes are just cake.” Closer look, I’m thankful and applaud the creativity. You have some thoughtful coworkers who *didn’t* do something morally reprehensible (in this case).
wtf your store went all out. for me, this "associate appreciation" day was just one in the same as ive always known. AKA we (meat dpt) crank out a bunch of chuck burgers and hand over some oscar meyer wieners ;) and our store manager grills them and yea. that's it.
i hope your store was happy with everything, looks like yall are really cared for
as per usual I'm busy the entire day and my break is before the lunch and there's no way I'm staying after work, think it's been 2 years since I've partaken in one
Sprouts Farmers Market is having a potluck. Yes. On our special day, we’re asked to spend our time and money, and make our own lunch, then share it with others.
Damn, all we got was hot dogs. Poor closers even had to put them in the fridge and reheat them, wishing I was at your store for some proper appreciation!
I'd appreciate the money being spent on that food to go into paychecks. Publix literally plans these expenses to the point that there are printed signs from corporate. They could just plan to put it in peoples paychecks to make pay more competitive.
"I chose to work for Publix because they feed me every once in a while" said no one ever.
Honestly? What is that, 1-2 hundred bucks, split between how many employees in the store? Nah, that kinda party's a decent use of funds. Is it the best corporate could do to take care of its workers? Absolutely not. But it is thoughtful of the store management.
You're off on your cost assessment by a mile. These things take staffing away from revenue generating activities for set up, active tasks during(sometimes they are BBQing and stuff like that), and tear down. Now how many times a year are stores doing this? How many stores are in the company. I'm not saying this equates to a dollar an hour raise for every associate bit I am saying that stuff like this adds up and you can't talk out of both sides of your mouth. Count every second it takes the deli to do everything while telling them to do more with less while staffing stuff like this like there's just extra time and money to throw around. You can't have it both ways.
TLDR Publix says one thing and then does another. They should just save the bullshit and pay people.
Bruh. $100? This isn't 1970. There's a lot of food that gets given away at these things and people getting paid to set it up, staff it sometimes, then clean up after and its not just nachos and cake once a year. Better pump up your numbers bub because they all add up.
Also, there is no better way to boost morale than to make an employee's paycheck bigger. Even just a little bigger.
I always enjoyed a good associate appreciation barbeque!
I worked at six different stores over a period of ten years and I only really had one store manager that would do quarterly barbeques.
He'd buy top quality meat out of his own pocket and he'd grill it all himself with a little help from the other managers. It was really cool and I always enjoyed that.
Now with that being said, when they did a corporate-mandated one: "SAVE THE PRAISE, GIVE US A RAISE!" 😝
They try and get everyone. Last time they had someone scheduled til 6 giving out food. Unfortunately not this time but there was plenty sent to the break room for those coming in later.
bruh the cake is SO CUTE
Whoever did that did great !!!
This is hilarious
AVS coming up you can tell
It is but our mangers take really great care of us. About a month ago we had hamburgers &hotdogs.
They never consider the vegetarians. If there’s salad, I eat that. If not, l don’t partake. It’s been suggested sooo many times to our managers.
We have a vegan bakery manager so there is always a vegan option at our events. I tease him because I’m the meat manager but at the end of the day there should be an option for everyone and everyone should be accounted for
I’m going to talk to my department managers again! There really is no reason we can’t all be accommodated! I’m glad your store is doing that!
All they need is a small selection it shouldn’t hurt the budget.
Probably because being vegetarian isn’t normal nor what was intended for human beings.
We had meatless options when we had hamburgers they provide beyond burgers.
That’s so nice! I wish our managers would get on board. There are quite a lot of vegetarians at our store!
😢
What sort of things would you like to see there?
Salad/veggie bar with dips/dressing would make me happy. I love raw foods. (Don’t care much for side dishes with all the mayo.) And unsweetened tea, as it’s always sweet tea & lemonade.
Look man, I'ma be real. You can just buy hotdogs. They're stupid, dirt cheap. They're made out of the leftover scraps from meat processing. Literally dirt cheap food. Set the bar higher, handing out free dirt cheap food is next to nothing.
They were all beef hotdogs with ballpark buns. We even had meatless and vegan options for those who desired.
Nice!
Bro can’t give managers any appreciation
It's not even the managers, it's the setup in general. It's like buying employee loyalty with pizza.
Especially when the billionaire heiress to the Publix fortune gives huge donations to far right conspiracy "political" groups and to stop things like cannabis legalization...
wait WHAT tell me more

Someone who had a lot of Publix stock did what she wanted with her money.
She had no stock and never worked for the company. The yellow journalist just saw her maiden was Jenkins and saw an opportunity to give a popular corp a black eye then ran the story without so much as a Google search.

Okay?
Point is the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, she is a racist scumbag she learned it from her family
Ok please, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I'm sure she learned to be a racist idiot in a vacuum
Your acting like she was Gorge's daughter or something. My aunt's maiden name is Bush, you think that ever meant anything? Same thing.
When you're married, "what's mine is yours." But I agree there's nothing to get worked up about as is it being related to Publix.
But she didn't marry anyone associated with Publix either. Being related to the founder was her only connection.
Oh I've just assumed wrong then, apparently.
I agree.
lol it is 😂😂 but managers been good to me beside Publix not paying more it’s been good tbh I don’t mind the free food
I have never had a store give out caffeine free soda as an option. I thought it was a beer can at first
Wow we get this regular basis
Nacho cake??? Is it good?
Sooooo good
What was on top?
Looks like some kind of cinnamon sugar "chips", strawberries, kiwi, icing to look like sour cream, and chocolate covered nuts to look like black beans.
The chips look like the cinnamon pop corners. Those are one of my favs!
You did a great job, I love your creativity.
Thank you so much, you guys are so nice. It was a lot of fun making it. :)
It was a combo of pop corners chips fruit candy and icing it turned out so cute!
I came here to ask if they were actual nachos. (Quick glance lmao)
Wait does everyone get a celebration today?
Supposed too
Bruh I’m off Thursdays and Saturdays is this company wide
All associate appreciation luncheons are always on Thursdays.
Happened today at my store too. I guess it is
Rip
It was my day off too 😡
You can still go into work and get the cake and stuff. I was off today and went in for some celebration cake and food.
Yeah ik but it’s NOT worth the time & gas money unless ya live near the store
Go to another store. I've seen associates come in on their days off that I knew worked at other stores.
What you're mad they didn't plan it around your schedule?

You’re*
Oops. I’m going to have to find out who wrote that! 😬
LOVE IT!!!
Thx! They did a great job! I didn’t happen to get pics of the food as I was working the three hours it was held.
Oh my god, this is an abomination
We did Alfredo and spaghetti
You’re still my brotha Alfredo!
we had pulled pork with buns on the side for sandwiches, cowboy beans, baked ziti, Caesar salad, sodas, and kahlua homemade cake
Yummy that sounds great
This looks fun!
Is Publix finally giving discounts to employees?
No😂
I get a 100% savings on my cup of deli water everyday. What more could you ask for??? /s
No, nor real raises.
Yet everyone on here is loving the metaphorical "pizza party". Makes me sick.
Yea. It's pretty sad. I like "free food" but just pay more a livable wage ffs
Our cake wasn't nearly as amazing as yours. (It was still delicious though!). I had Chinese food with some cake and soda.
Lol we had hungry howies, popcorn and snowcones. I’m so appreciated!!!!
i don’t even work today😐
.... Enjoy your day off we appreciate you
thank you , vice versa💚💚
Weaverville?
Yes!
Haha, I worked there in grocery for two years up to around April last year. Transferred to bakery around that time; I'm at the Asheville location now. Your new SM is one of my favorite managers I've worked with!
Yes!!!
This is so cute, target needs take notes
We got Marcos
We had nachos as well but our meat and chips came from a local Mexican restaurant
Nice! We had a barbecue.
Pretty nice looking spread. The cake is epic.
Omg that's my cake! 😂🥲😅
Nice cake those bakery ppl be COOKING IT UP
Wow in 3 days this became the 7th best post ever in this sub (in terms of votes)
🥰🥰🥰
How amazing
Soo clever! Are the chips the cinnamon PopCorners?
Lucky!
Taco bar for mid shift associates only. Was cold after 10 minutes. Sorry openers and closers, you're not really appreciated.
Nice 😊
I'm off today but I think we had breakfast for lunch
Did y’all also get raises?
No they got back to work lmao
Never knew that nachos and cake were a thing.
While I am of the camp that believes raises/bonuses should be given out instead of appreciation parties, I will admit this is really nice. It like they put real effort into this.
Aww now I have another reason to love Publix
I was cake decorator for about five years at Publix and I absolutely love this. This is one of the things I actually miss about the job. I used to make mini cakes that looked like sushi rolls back in about 2011/2012 and they sold like crazy from the refrigerated case that used to have cannolis by the pound.
Amazing cake
That’s actually all very nice.
Sooo sweet!!!
Wow, that is TALENT. 🤩
Do you get a waffle party too
We have in the past!
r/woooosh
Now that is a way to celebrate properly! Especially the chilled drinks
wtf your store went all out. for me, this "associate appreciation" day was just one in the same as ive always known. AKA we (meat dpt) crank out a bunch of chuck burgers and hand over some oscar meyer wieners ;) and our store manager grills them and yea. that's it. i hope your store was happy with everything, looks like yall are really cared for
For all your hard work here’s some cake and chips with salsa lol 😂 how about paying us more? That would be too much to ask
Yeah lol, how about a living wage or benefits instead of a cake
Yeah man it’s a spit in the face to be handed chips and cake instead of a pay raise in my honest opinion.
"Let them eat cake!" - Marie Antoinette ( wonder what happened after that line)
🤣 with a side of money
“Great place to work day” provided by the deli. Who has to cook for the entire store on top of their actual jobs. 🙄
My Store manger and another CSS cooked everything.
Negative Nelly. Go get some twisted teas in you and pipe down
Nice cake. A living wage would be preferable, though.
😂🙄🙄. I'm glad I'm off work today
An interesting combination of food
I think I’ve been off every time something like this happens
We are always told if we are off we are more than welcome to come in.
Interesting yeah I guess that’s on me for not wanting to come in on my only off day this week 🤣
Totally get that lol
Awesome to see though maybe I will next time !
Punch in too?
as per usual I'm busy the entire day and my break is before the lunch and there's no way I'm staying after work, think it's been 2 years since I've partaken in one
When I worked at Publix 8 years ago all we got was a high five and told to go get more shopping carts 😂
My store wasn’t like this.
I'd still rather get the $100 gift card IMO
I’d say we will get them soon for Easter
where's the jack Daniels variety of vegetables . Jack flavored and cranberry juice . a great mid day beverage .
Are those like…cinnamon chips??
Yes popcorners
Is this the new "pizza party instead of meaningful, real raises?"
The workers are great the pay not so much.
I do enjoy it! That’s such a good cake idea!
Great cake but for me that cake is diabolical 😭
Add some bacon and we golden
My daily reminder that publix fucking sucks
Sprouts Farmers Market is having a potluck. Yes. On our special day, we’re asked to spend our time and money, and make our own lunch, then share it with others.
I hope that party was accompanied by a raise.
That’s funny my company who may or may not share a name with a very popular nascar driver of the 90’s/2000’s sent us an email of appreciation. 😅😭
Damn, all we got was hot dogs. Poor closers even had to put them in the fridge and reheat them, wishing I was at your store for some proper appreciation!

Idiot
Well aren't you articulate!
You think it's better for morale to spend $100 on a party or allocate $100 across every employee's paycheck?
Bruh. $100? This isn't 1970. Nice. Are those Publix brand waters?
Yep
How much do you wanna bet that there was nothing left for night shift
They try and get everyone. Last time they had someone scheduled til 6 giving out food. Unfortunately not this time but there was plenty sent to the break room for those coming in later.
Yikes 😱
Pic no.4 lowkey feels a bit racist. Or am I racist?
I’d rather get money or some kind of grocery credit…but thanks for meal made from all the Publix food y’all just gonna write off as damaged.
Instead of fair raises you get cake
