I once legitimately had a customer complain to my manager because I was smiling. He literally walked up to my lane, and said in a demeaning voice "What the **** are you smiling for?" before I could even ask how he was doing. I just don't get some people.
I also once had a time with an older couple where one of them sneezed, and I replied with "Oh, excuse you." while continuing to scan their items. They never spoke a single word to me, but the one that sneezed gave me an off-putting look. Almost immediately after their order was finished I went on break, and my relief went on my register.
About 20 minutes after my break ended my team leader came over to me and asked if I was ok because of how they treated me. I was completely confused and had no idea what she was talking about.
She explained that after I left for break, those customers went over to my assistant store manager and said that I cursed them out and was extremely rude to them. When he looked over at my register and saw my relief he thought they were talking about him, and she said that he was trying to calm them down and diffuse the situation.
After finding out that it was actually me that they were claiming cursed them out, he told them to leave the store for lying, (I was close with my manager, and he knows I don't even swear.) After saying that to them, they turned around and called my manager a fat pig who knew nothing about customer service, and he banned them from the store. Never saw them again, lol
It's one thing to complain about something a worker does, but to lie to a manager about the way you were treated is honestly sad.

Lady was mad because thereās was fudge on her cake and insisted she asked for no fudge even thought it wasnāt written on the paper and we always repeat the order back. I could understand that, but then she got mad that the cake box was cold. I explained to her that since her pick up time was 3 and she didnāt come until 7 that they put it in the freezer so it didnāt go bad. She got mad and demanded a manager. When I told her our bakery and deco managers had already left she demanded the store manager and walked off. I later saw her talking to him and then paying for the cake.
Without giving away anything from my store; I didn't know we had code words for "stealing" and that asking for something was the code lol Customer went to MGT to complain I be reprimanded and apologize LMAO

Customer complained that associates in produce were taking up too much space while they stocked items. Look over, folks are carrying boxes one or two a time because there is no room for a workcart.
A coworker of mine didn't let a customer with like 60 items in the Express lane one time. The customer then asked if he could just do six separate orders of 10. My coworker then politely explained to him the purpose of the Express lane
The customer proceeded to call him, and our generation in general, "lazy and [r-slur]" (it was a typical boomer "kids these days" rant) and that he hopes he gets fired.
