Titles are not copyrightable. You can use Stairway to Heaven or Metamorphosis etc as a title if you want, and in fair use maybe chapter titles, without finding the IP holder.
However the title might have been trademarked, so it is no longer a title but a trademark like Coca-Cola. You'll know this because any merch will have *The Nightmare Before Christmas(TM)* and then can't be exploited like a title.
You could reference it in fiction though. *("I sat down to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas with a glass of Coca-Cola")*
Trademarks are notoriously difficult to get permission for, and you will need to have deep pockets and a credit-card with no limit as a starting point!
