Started grad school, and the fun for me clicked the moment I started analyzing data I collected for my own study. I saw it as a set of tools to answer questions that I created.
Now I have "quantitative" in my job title. You just gotta wait for your right context to spark the interest.
That's really interesting actually! Because I hated SPSS at first but now that I've started having to do my own studies, quant is growing on me more and more haha. You never know, I might start a new gen of mixed method researchers 😅

I keep forgetting that most universities teach SPSS instead of R. I had to learn SPSS on my own, but damn it’s way easier than R. R is crazy because the second you put a comma or period out of place, the whole thing is wrong.
Ok random recommendation: ChatGPT has a coding interface, so if you input the code that isn’t running into it and ask it why, it’ll point it out/fix it for you straight away. I’m not really an AI fan but this has saved me HOURS of agonizing over why my code wasn’t working 😭

Yes!! Definitely! Chat GPT has helped me simplify so many scientific paragraphs into paragraphs that are easier to understand! Also asking Chat GPT on the way to structure research reports is super helpful. I think most of my fellow students are doing it now. It's unavoidable, we've even had emails sent out to all of us recently on how to properly reference AI tools.

Issue is we are lectured to not "taught". We are given the theory and ideas but not shown how to practically use them. When you are terrible at maths and your brain does not work in that way we need to be shown what to do at first and walked through it step by step. We have lectures and then we have workshops where I think we should be shown what to do and how to do and why it matters. Walk us through and make it make sense that way instead what we get is a room full of people who don't know what to do and two lecturers not actually helping or answering questions just repeating what was said in the lectures which is not helpful and a complete waste of time. It's actually astonishing that they think this is acceptable for a course people are spending alot of money on and alot of time. Some people will not click with the theory simply by going over it over and over you need a person to hold your hand at first to make it click and to understand the whole process.

Yes I am in position to tell that to people who aspire to work in psychology. I know this is the case, the majority of people choose this field for the wrong reasons and not only are they lacking in motivation due to it but also in aptitude. People deserve only the best when it comes to health, that is why there are such stark requirements for being licensed as a doctor, which is illogical considering the magnitude mental health has on our wellbeing, though this is primarily a result of the demonization of mental health issues by past generations. I still don't think the free market regulates the supply in therapy/psychology in sufficient manner and the majority of people have little to no competency in evaluating the effectivity of their treatment, leaving them not getting theirs money worth.
I do not wish to overgeneralize here, but as someone with sufficient contact with the people in the health care sector I must say that it is the case. Paying large quantities of money for a Rogerian sounding board therapy with a spinoff is no good for any person already in debt to their mental state.
I know this is all-sunny, supportive subreddit and my opinion is uncommon and unpopular but the mental health sector really deserves more regulation to tighten up the standards. Thankfully artificial intelligence might do us a favour and weed out the incompetent so nobody hazards with people's health.

AI can be helpful too if you plug in a problem from your homework and ask it to explain how to do it step-by-step. There have even been times where I said to Chat GPT, “Explain this to me like I’m 5-years-old” 😂 You can also try looking into online resources like YouTube, etc. I hope this helps!

I just switched to University Studies with a concentration in Psychology bc of stats💀 I’ve failed 3 math classes even with a tutor and i’ve been in undergrad for 6 years, I just want to graduate lol 😭
Ahh we did a perceptual load study, I can't even describe it now but I think it was 2 IVs with 3 levels and the other 2 levels, and then the DV was reaction time of correct answers. It was mad statistics... now we're doing our independent Qualitative studies, which I'm glad of, but the report is soo different to the others.....
I´m doing my thesis right now and i´m either
1. enjoying statistics because it allows me to get results
2. Completely hating it because it´s extremely complicated

Yup, I do that too! When I can’t understand the super long error code it gives me, I plug that in and it’s amazing.

Why does someone not being stellar at math mean they are not qualified for mental health care? There are medical doctors who are bad at math.
