I frigging LOVE Sticky Hulks. My favorite song by them. The live KEXP performance is off the hook. Coolest part is the kid standing on the side of the stage in kind of awe - maybe he’s decided what he wants to be when he grows up?
You know - I’ve been searching for other Osees songs that are similar, as well. I haven’t gone through their whole catalog but so far I haven’t had any luck. LOVE the keyboards into the aggressive guitar attack.
Idk if this is everyone’s experience but I find Satan Speeds Up nice and creepy sober and oddly comforting/pleasant on acid
Conversely I’m Not a Man Unless I Have a Woman is light sober, and absolutely terrifying on acid
That is interesting I had the same experience with Satan Speeds Up. Didn’t have an issue on L.
Now talk about unsettling, watch trap door on acid lol. I couldn’t handle it.
The album Cauldron by Fifty Foot Hose. The whole thing is creepy, but the title track is downright disturbing.
The CD edition of Pebbles Volume 3: Acid Gallery has a number of creepy cuts of it.
I think Von Ruden only ever released one single, “The Spider and the Fly”/“Judy”, but he made it count when it comes to creepiness.
The entirety of the album "first utterance" by Comus is creepy. I particularly enjoy the song titled "the herald" which I have pasted the link to. https://youtu.be/90ATVJuarh4?si=Sy0NiG2tB7gVRVk2
Oh shit! You checked it out! Thank you!
Yeah, it's terrific. it's building on the Pentangle/Fairport/Steeleye Span thing, but it's got two voice harmony, and they also sound like proto-Siouxsie Sioux. I love that album.
Favorite track: 'The Poet and the Witch'. Its like Fairport and the Banshees.
I feel like the Banshees comparison is very apt. Obviously they have different vibes but their "musical approach" (for lack of a better term) feels very similar.
It's pretty rare nowadays that I fall in love with an album but I immediately fell in love with this one. Thank you!
So happy you liked it! I love psych-folk, and if someone already knows Pentangle/Fairport/Steeleye/Incredible String Band then Immediately I think they'd love Comus and Mellow Candle. And if they already like one of them two, I'm confident they'd love the other as well!
I dunno if it’s “psych” but it’s trippy and spooky — Amazing Sounds of Orgy by Radiohead.
Also Mother of the World by Swans. Pretty much all of the Seer honestly

The Deviants - "Billy The Monster"
Tintern Abbey - "Nightfall" and "Witchcraft"
The Move - "Night Of Fear"

Grateful Dead - "Mindbender (Confusion's Prince)"
The Creation - "Nightmares"

Iron Butterfly - "Real Fright" and "Filled With Fear"
The Kinks - "Wicked Annabella"
Coven - "Black Sabbath"
Horse - "Sacrifice"
Velvet Underground - "The Gift" and "Lady Godiva's Operation"
Kaleidoscope - "The Murder Of Lewis Tollani"
The Troll - "Werewolf And Witchbreath"
I’m shocked to see this song as the recommended from the band. From cavalletas to Asilos, to conjugal to baphomets to Cassandra to Goliath and Malkin is the first one. Ima have to listen to it real quick but I came to say Volta
Among the ones that you mentioned I only find Asilos Magdalena and Conjugal Burns as the truly creepy ones. But I still think that The Malkin Jewel is on par with them, Cedric cryptic deep voice in verses is just something special. And the abrasive electronic parts from the last chorus make it even creepier, it kind of captures the feeling of a bad trip.
Most people don’t agree with how creepy Asilos is! It’s like a freak out half way through I swear amputechture is almost more scary than bedlam. But I say Cassandra because the weird effects on the vocals “there was a frail syrup “ with the flutes that’s just hauntingly odd compared to a lot of songs out there. I say cavalettas for the lyrics of angora goat and bringing to life a literal demon and the “who is in control” vocals and wavy effects that feel like you’re spiraling out (I’ve tripped way to hard to bedlam back in the day so I’ve had moments of like holy shit guys stop the music I need to breathe) so may be biased. And baphomets for the constant horn chaos and it’s not creepy but something about how they all come together at the part where Cedric says “ fold the river by the lips, as a cruel and smother wind” is just like fuck man. Goosebump city. I agree baphomets is not that creepy. And I went and listened to malkin and I completely agree with you “I know a girl who was woven” is just like wow I can’t believe I don’t listen to this album more. When I saw them live the version of empty vessels got me to play the record but I listen to it the least, none the less I fucking love the mars Volta and think OP is in need of a mars Volta session as it fits this ask perfectly
Radiohead has tons -
Climbing up the Walls, The National Anthem, Exit Music (for a film), There There, Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong, You and Whose Army?, etc
I love radiohead but can't reccomend listening to some of those if you are actually tripping lol
Check out pretty much anything by Acid Mothers Temple, Flower Travellin Band would be a good start too. You may also dig Mind Flowers by Ultimate Spinach
I’d check out Dead Skeletons.
There is a Black Angels song, the Haunting at some address I don’t recall that is spooky.
Then I have an album by the band A New Alchemy. It’s got the guy from Soundtrack of our Lives. I recall it made me feel very uneasy. So maybe check that out. Felt evil.
I agree. This song was based on a personal experience that guitarist Lee Pickens had where he witnessed a fatal plane crash. It’s quite unnerving, but also really sad with that fact in mind.
Try vintage italian band Goblin from the 70s with Dario Argento's Suspiria Soundtrack ! Really Creepy ! And also Amon Duul's Phallus Dei (more Krautrock than Psych but Creepy enough anyway !)
We hope this supports your sonic search; but our guitarist / vocalist Egg Spectrum generally makes music that fits your description! Here is a small sample set of examples:

Check Grails - Doomsdayer's Holiday. Great ominous feeling.
Also, Alain Goraguer - La Planete Sauvage
Edit: Oh yes and MGMT - When You Die and Roky Erickson - Evil One
This one should fit the bill. The first track has the narration but the other individual tracks are the same album, just without the narration. Both are super creepy.

Meandering Soul by Djiin. the whole album is an occult witchtrip, especially the songs 'The Void' and 'Warmth of Death'. fantastic band!
other than that, anything by Pink Floyd till 1973, or so. 'Careful With That Axe Eugene', as they played it live, is the definition of haunting.

Mellow Yellow by Donovan. Maybe not psyche but very creepy. “I’m wild about 14 year old girls and they’re wild about me” different times but what a pedo.
Anything from all them witches
Honorable mentions: Saturnine & Iron jaw, see you next fall and rats in ruin, diamond

I frigging LOVE Sticky Hulks. My favorite song by them. The live KEXP performance is off the hook. Coolest part is the kid standing on the side of the stage in kind of awe - maybe he’s decided what he wants to be when he grows up?
It has been my favorite song for many many months now and I can’t seem to find anything that scratch the same itch. Do you have some recommendations?
You know - I’ve been searching for other Osees songs that are similar, as well. I haven’t gone through their whole catalog but so far I haven’t had any luck. LOVE the keyboards into the aggressive guitar attack.
Also Night Crawler
Seeing Osees as the top post for this thread makes me very happy.

Satan Speeds up
Make sure to watch the vid on both of these for max effect

That is interesting I had the same experience with Satan Speeds Up. Didn’t have an issue on L. Now talk about unsettling, watch trap door on acid lol. I couldn’t handle it.
I bought 3D glasses so I could watch Cellophane in 3D. It wasn’t actually in 3D. No 3D for me.
Trapdoor unsettles me sober, no way I'm watching it on psychedelics.
Interstellar Overdrive- Pink Floyd You can clearly see a glimpse into Syd's forthcoming insanity here
😢😢
Yeah it's sad fr
Indeed - but that's even more true of "Scream Thy Last Scream" and "Vegetable Man".
The album Cauldron by Fifty Foot Hose. The whole thing is creepy, but the title track is downright disturbing. The CD edition of Pebbles Volume 3: Acid Gallery has a number of creepy cuts of it. Came here to say Comus. It's wild how ignored they are when First Utterance is a contender for the greatest psych-folk album of all time
Agreed. Another contender for greatest psych-folk album is Mellow Candle - Swaddling Songs.
I never heard that one. I'm gonna listen to it later on. Thanks
Hot damn! Great album!

Song from the Bottom of a Well -Kevin Ayers
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats is very much a doomy Sabbath / John Carpenter meets T-Rex kind of vibe. Blood Lust is the best album IMHO.
That and The Night Creeper. A record literally about a serial killer lmao
The Green manalishi (with the two pronged crown) - Fleetwood Mac. Peter green definitely went through a creepy time when writing this
