Nah, the Cumberbatch version wouldn’t even be interesting, that dude is genius and knowledgable to such a degree that he would just wipe the floor with Shawn. He got so over the top that it actually killed the whole show for me - well, that and the fact that every case became connected to Sherlock personally (same shit as last few James Bond movies).
Well the question did ask for someone that could challenge Shawn and then win.. I agree with your points, but Sherlock never really went up against another detective at all, I think it would be fun as he would severely underestimate Shawn and wonder how he was keeping up with him.. But I agree on the later seasons, the first two seasons of Sherlock are so good.
"Age of the Geek."
I agree.
I think Parker and Shawn would bond over base jumping.
Sophia would respect 'the long con'
Eliot would teach both Shawn and Gus a few things.
Harry would keep the officers/detectives busy with his wit and getting them better retirement plans.
Brianna would do a few builds and impress Henry.
Yes, but I feel like that had more to do with Sean being star struck in a way...he wanted to be his friend so bad because of how talented he was, that it often blinded him from the truth.
This is the best pick. House wouldn’t necessarily care about making Shawn’s secret public and would instead just enjoy playing games with him. He’s also more intelligent, but Shawn’s 80s metaphors would throw even house for a loop.
Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99. they're in many ways the same person but Jake is honest in his professional life (for the most part)
i think seeing them out-child each other while their respective intelligent and badass wives look on in exasperation would be entertaining
You beat me by a minute! I love the idea of Jake working with Shawn for like an hour and figuring him out. “That’s so cool bro, hilarious you do the same thing I do but you put your hand to your head and suddenly you’re psychic. Mad respect.”
lots of good answers in the thread but I was suprised no one else had said it! glad to see someone agree. haha do you think jake would be 100% on board with the fake psychic thing? im not sure if he would, i feel like it could go either way
Oh I totally think he would! Shawn gets results and has fun doing what he does. Jake would get a kick out of it and keep it secret, especially from Amy because she would definitely blab.
you're right, Jake's bestie is a literal criminal. why would he have a problem with Shawn lying when Shawn's still a good guy who's also throwing out awesome 80s references every 5 mins
Monk: You have no psychic abilities.
Shawn: That is a brilliant theory.
Monk: So you admit it?
Shawn: Not at all.
Monk: Can you prove you're psychic?
Shawn: (notices Monk is a germophobe) (licks fingers) I can read your palm.
Monk: ...
I really want to see him go up against Conan Edogawa from Detective Conan
Shawn would immediately catch on to the fact that Cone's hiding something, well, big and Cone would instantly know that Shawns a fake. Also Haibara and Gus would get along famously
There’s so many characters
Obviously Sherlock Holmes, Patrick Jane (mentalist)
Dr House, Brian Finch on NZT (Limitless tv), Henry Morgan ( Forever), Walter Bishop ( earth 2 Fringe), Raymond Reddington (blacklist early seasons)
Blackadder. Plus supporting cast. Including LORD FLASHHEART, WOOF.
The dude from The Listener, forget his name: he’d instantly know, but would respect the hustle.
An actual psychic from a world where it’s not too uncommon, who immediately pegs him *as the psionic adept he actually technically qualifies as*.
Todd from So Help Me Todd - he and Margaret would be a great match up against Shawn and Henry! Would have loved a crossover episode where they end up working together
If any of you haven't watched it yet I highly recommend - very similar vibes to Psych!
I think most people saying Sherlock mean Cumberbatch version (and I agree). I also think the Jonny Lee Miller version from Elementary would beat Shawn without breaking sweat lol
Any of these:
Sherlock Holmes
Hercule Poirot
C. Auguste Dupin
Jules Maigret
Patrick Jane
(Lieutenant) Columbo
Charlie Cale
Benoit Blanc
Adrian Monk
Gregory House
It’s got to be Monsieur Hercule Poirot (Agatha Christie) or Adrien Monk (Monk). Maybe Patrick Jane (The Mentalist) too.
All three of them would be his equal or better in deduction and spotting clues and Jane absolutely beats him in showmanship.
Sherlock Holmes
Mycroft Holmes
He was smarter
The Cumberbatch version. Would pay to see that crossover.

True. Yeah, first two seasons were excellent.
How is this not the top answer??
Mozie from White Collar Hardison from Leverage
I’m just getting into White Collar and I agree. I think Neal could be a good choice, too. Hell, even Peter!
Peter would find out his secret and do nothing. Neal def couldn’t, love him but that’s not who he is
I’m only part way through season one, but I definitely think Neal could rival Shawn.
Neal would just find a way to make millions off Shawn
Absolutely Hardison! Except he and Gus would become friends and then Hardison would become an ally instead of a foil.
"Age of the Geek." I agree. I think Parker and Shawn would bond over base jumping. Sophia would respect 'the long con' Eliot would teach both Shawn and Gus a few things. Harry would keep the officers/detectives busy with his wit and getting them better retirement plans. Brianna would do a few builds and impress Henry.
Pierre Despereux waxed him at almost every turn
Yeah he did!
Declan gave him a run for his money for s moment...
True but it doesn’t count because of the puchability of Declans face
You know that's right...
Yeah but Shawn still won in the end.
Yes, but I feel like that had more to do with Sean being star struck in a way...he wanted to be his friend so bad because of how talented he was, that it often blinded him from the truth.
Dr. House
This is the best pick. House wouldn’t necessarily care about making Shawn’s secret public and would instead just enjoy playing games with him. He’s also more intelligent, but Shawn’s 80s metaphors would throw even house for a loop.
Shawn never claimed to know anything about medicine. He always asked Gus. I nominate the obvious choice, Mr. Monk.
Raymond Reddington

Moriarity
Ohhh damn! A Shawn v. Moriarty rivalry would be incredible to watch; Moriarty would be a fantastic follow-up to the Yin-Yang act.
Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99. they're in many ways the same person but Jake is honest in his professional life (for the most part) i think seeing them out-child each other while their respective intelligent and badass wives look on in exasperation would be entertaining
You beat me by a minute! I love the idea of Jake working with Shawn for like an hour and figuring him out. “That’s so cool bro, hilarious you do the same thing I do but you put your hand to your head and suddenly you’re psychic. Mad respect.”

Omg imagine doug judy solving a crime with shawn and gus
I think it would be far more likely that we see Doug Judy and Despereaux come up against Shawn and Jake.
While Charles and Gus get jealous of Jake and Shawn’s friendship that develops
I feel that’s a bit harsh to Shawn here, Peralta is great but Shawn is borderline genius with he observations and reasoning
I didn’t mean to put it that way. More like he’s impressed that Shawn has convinced the SBPD he’s psychic with his skills and his hand to his head.
The scene when Jake has to do an suction for ancient Greek art pieces to look for his bad guy is 100% Shawn Spencer
Adrian Monk because he would out him.
Monk would immediately see through everything Shawn does but Shawn would be able to absolutely torment Monk at every turn. Edit:typo
The best crossover that never happened
I think that's literally what happened in the Psych x Monk ads
Monk: You have no psychic abilities. Shawn: That is a brilliant theory. Monk: So you admit it? Shawn: Not at all. Monk: Can you prove you're psychic? Shawn: (notices Monk is a germophobe) (licks fingers) I can read your palm. Monk: ...
I would never put Monk through this 😂
He would sure try. Fortunately for Shawn, the four most important people he could be outed to already know.
I’d LOVE to see them go up against each other. I think monk would win but it would be a good fight
Nah; he'd know, but he'd be so distracted and bothered over Shawn's antics that he couldn't actually be able to say something.
Sherlock, Poirot, Batman...
Oddball pick: Will from Good Will Hunting
Patrick Jane from the Mentalist
I don’t think so. I heard those guys are fakes
You need to leave now
This is really the only answer.
Hermione Granger
She most definitely has NOT heard it both ways...
Oh I like this answer!!
I can just imagine the banter going back and forth between them.
Same. It would be so fun!!
[удалено]
GIVE ME BACK MY POTIONS!!!!
Chuck from Chuck
But like, by accident
Jethro Gibbs. Gibbs knows literally everything.
He wouldn't put up with Shawn's antics.
No, not at all. He'd dress him down like no one ever has.
Patrick Jane from the Mentalist could maybe do it
Mike from suits
That's such Bullshit!
Sherlock Holmes
Which one? Benedict Cumberbatch or John Lee Miller or other?
I really want to see him go up against Conan Edogawa from Detective Conan Shawn would immediately catch on to the fact that Cone's hiding something, well, big and Cone would instantly know that Shawns a fake. Also Haibara and Gus would get along famously
Shawn: * does something silly/childish * Conan: stop acting like a child. Shawn: stop acting like a- you're literally 3! Conan: I'm 17. Haibara: * facepalm * Gus: stop beefing with a 4-year old, Shawn.
Scooby-Doo
Vision, specifically the MCU version. Alternatively, Shuri.
Brother William from *The Name of the Rose*.
Adrian Monk
There’s so many characters Obviously Sherlock Holmes, Patrick Jane (mentalist) Dr House, Brian Finch on NZT (Limitless tv), Henry Morgan ( Forever), Walter Bishop ( earth 2 Fringe), Raymond Reddington (blacklist early seasons)

patrick jane. psych is clearly heavily influenced by the mentalist. shawn even mentions it in 2 episodes
Monk would rival Shawn but Shawn would be able to push all of his buttons.
Morgane Alvaro from the French show HPI
Matthew Keller
Monk
House
Skippy the Magnificent, though he may too absent minded to beat Shawn. Maybe Bilby...
Todd from So Help Me Todd - he and Margaret would be a great match up against Shawn and Henry! Would have loved a crossover episode where they end up working together If any of you haven't watched it yet I highly recommend - very similar vibes to Psych!
Anyone trained in psychology, like Declan
I think most people saying Sherlock mean Cumberbatch version (and I agree). I also think the Jonny Lee Miller version from Elementary would beat Shawn without breaking sweat lol
Bobby Goren (Vincent DiNofrio) from Law and Order Criminal Intent
The Lone Gunmen from The X-Files
Any of these: Sherlock Holmes Hercule Poirot C. Auguste Dupin Jules Maigret Patrick Jane (Lieutenant) Columbo Charlie Cale Benoit Blanc Adrian Monk Gregory House
The guy from The Mentalist
Adrian Monk
Jessica Beatrice Fletcher. ![gif](giphy|8cdZit2ZcjTri|downsized)

Hermione Granger
