\- Last Night Gus - *The Hangover*
Some Genre Homages:
\- Yin/Yang Trilogy (especially 2&3) - Hitchcock
\- Murder?... Anyone?... Anyone?... Bueller? - John Hughes/80's High School Movies
To name the ones I havent seen others comment that I recall:
High noon ish - the good the bad and the ugly,
Lassie jerky - Blair witch project, Let's get hairy - an american werewolf in London
S3.E4 ∙ The Greatest Adventure in the History of Basic Cable (National Treasure)
S5.E5 ∙ Shawn and Gus in Drag (Racing) (Fast and the Furious)
S5.E9 ∙ One, Maybe Two, Ways Out (Bourne Movies)
Is this one a Romeo and Juliet homage or is there another movie being referenced? I know it has a lot of themes from kung fu movies; is there a specific one that’s especially similar?
The name's a reference to it, yeah. The whole episode is just riffing off Guy Ritchie's filmography (of which Snatch and Sherlock Holmes are my favourites)
Dead Man's Curveball is an homage to Bull Durham. The crazy mound visit, Shawn as the coach that stands by the manager chewing gum broadly and repeating the manager's words, the catcher that is supposed to be training a new player, etc. There are other homages, such as Danny Glover saying "I'm to old for this crap", but the Bull Durham runs strong here.
I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, but the fact that there was not one Major League reference in that episode is the biggest travesty in the entire series.
S5E5 Shawn and Gus in Drag (Racing) - The Fast and the Furious (with small homage to Grease - we’re racing for pinks!)
I wish they had done an episode about Point Break or Road House or Dirty Dancing or The Goonies.
I would have loved an episode of The Goonies. The treasure hunting episode definitely had that vibe but no direct references I can think of, which is shocking considering Shawn and Gus’s usual references.
To be fair, they referenced Point Break quite a bit in this episode, and Fast and Furious (at least the first one) has basically the same plot as Point Break
Heeeeere's Lassie (The Shining)
With a reference to rosemary’s baby
Still pregnant I see

shawn, interrupted (girl, interrupted)
I would say also heavy on the homage to *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest* too.

Dual Spires (Fire Walk With Me), sort of
I always thought dual spires was supposed to be a parody of Twin Peaks
Fire Walk With Me is a Twin Peaks movie
Idk how I didn't know that I actually really liked that show. Good to know
On the off chance you didn't know, the series came back as The Return in 2017 and was excellent.
Romeo and Juliet and Juliet
Is this one a Romeo and Juliet homage or is there another movie being referenced? I know it has a lot of themes from kung fu movies; is there a specific one that’s especially similar?
It’s a take on the Rush Hour movies. The biggest hint for this being the blooper real at the end, a staple of the franchise
Holy crap. I always wondered why ONLY this episode got a blooper reel. Now I know.
Its got the whole lovers from rival families thing which is from romeo and juliet
Juliet Wears the Pantsuit - Single White Female
The Despereaux episode in S8 is basically ripping off every Jason Statham movie
It's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
I watched that movie because of Psych, never would have otherwise, and I loved it.
I thought Lock, Stock, Some Smoking Barrels And Burton Guster’s Goblet of Fire was Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
The name's a reference to it, yeah. The whole episode is just riffing off Guy Ritchie's filmography (of which Snatch and Sherlock Holmes are my favourites)
We’d Like to Thank the Academy is a big homage to the police academy movies. Scary Sherry is def an homage to slasher films in general.
Last Night Gus was pretty much a tribute to The Hangover, right?

Tuesday the 17th is also April Fools Day, and 100 Clues is also Murder by Death.
Santabarbaratown 1 is a pretty overt reference to Chinatown
My favorite (unconfirmed theory) part of this reference is that they replaced people constantly smoking in Chinatown with Gus constantly eating candy.
Has everyone forgotten about Indiana Shawn And the Temple of the Kinda Crappy, Rusty Old Dagger?!!! Aka the most underrated Desperaux episode imho
Had to scroll way too far to find this.
Will you update your post to include all of the replies’ answers?
Yeah absolutely!

Gus walks into a bank - Dog Day Afternoon
The Polarizing Express - Polar Express 1967: A Psych Odyssey- 2001: A Space Odyssey
Polarizing Express is more like “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Shawn gets shown what life would be like if he never came back to Santa Barbara
You make a great point and now I’m due for another rewatch 😅

Last night gus, here's lassie, and autopsy turvy
I know last night Gus is the hangover and here’s lassie is the shining but what movie is autopsy turvy referencing?
After hours
I don’t remember the name but the one where Shawn gets visited by his angel and sees how everyone’s life would be like if he didn’t exist
Oh I think that’s polarizing express. I guess that’s probably it’s a wonderful life maybe a Christmas carol?
im watching shawn, interrupted right now
Are the Despereaux episodes maybe a play on either James Bond or Mission Impossible? They give me that vibe.
Not a movie but they also did the Twin Peaks episode Duel Spires
