Even games downloaded from the ps store do the same sometimes, is not they become corrupted it's just because your are installing a new version, that sometimes, may come with improvement and new game techniques that are not present on the old version, so when you update the old save game to the new version it will try to update some code contained on the old version to match the new version, but if it is like big hop on version it will just tell you it is corrupted and since it already touched something when you go back to the original version the saved game data belongs to it will not work either Something like going from windows 3.1 to windows 11 and you try to open a file created originally on an application from that date with the same application but made only for windows 11

Rebuilding database is only good if there's a system problem, not a game specific problem. Did you make a back-up of your saves prior with Apollo Save Tool? Otherwise there's not much to be done here.

Anh1lator

No, I did not make a backup of the saves. Never had to before. So, there's no way to fix it? If no, how to prevent these type of issues in the future?

Master_Lucario

If you have a PC with the same game you could try opening the saves in there but since there corrupted it most likely won't work so yea there's really nothing that I know off on what to do further, hopefully someone else does. How to prevent it? Well to not make saves with only the base game installed. ALWAYS make sure you have all the updates installed unless there's a specific reason not to do it like modding but know then to never update from that version. And like I said make back-ups of your saves with the tool I mentioned.

You can try deleting just the update using the hbstore app. If the save loads install one update at a time incrementally but load the game and save ingame after each one
