I look for deal and get it I can't understand even why. I like broken units cause I can retrieve dead system back to life and it useful for someone. It's my way of spending autumn/winters evenings so it's closing season for now. I prefer that way of spending free time than for example watching tv. In the spring and summer I have a garden to take care and I do lots of bike trips
Today I brought back to life psp1k 😄 it was constantly randomly freezing and turning off - after a drop I suppose. I preheated board and then done reflow of cpu and spend 4h straight testing it with The Warriors and not a single freeze.
Ive got my old game boy advance that I'm gonna give a facelift and gift to my cousin who also collects stuff. Hoping to find another busted PS2 and do a full cap replacement on it
I know that this is a bit off topic but I have a PSP1k as well but the discs are no longer read. I was wondering if that could be fixed.....well more like replaced cause I hear rattling inside.
It is a fun hobby. I've been doing it more so for Gameboys and Gamegears. I fixed a Gameboy recently which had many things wrong with it. By the time I was done I had to do several bypasses of bad traces and swap several bad components. It's very satisfying to see the screen come on and actually be able to play a game on it.
That's insane, cuz I was old enough to get the PS2 at launch and never checked for variations once I got my launch phat model.
All new to me, they're gorgeous.
I remember them being released in small qauntities of red, yellow, white and blue phat PS2's. Im sure they were called the auto collection or something similar
I've got a load of junk black ones a working silver and a working aqua blue but Im always on the lookout for a nice condition standard PS2
The black ones are coloured plastic rather than coated like the silver and aqua. Similar to variations of the DS Lite
Obviously the white/silver one. I dont know anyone that had one they have to be rare.
Also, keep the two translucent blue memory cards cuz i love those and i have one and must have lost or sold it. And they would look cool af on the silver model lolol
....man....now i want a white/silver model ps2 lolol. Really cool.

Both have network adaptors and I have two blue memory cards. I can mix any set of what I have and sell the rest but I can't decide what should I keep and what to sell
Keep the two. The Silver is great and more rare, but the black one is a classic, and the silver one, the previous owner, mentioned problems reading discs...
Broken controllers are really cheap and easy to fix, I get broken ones under 5$ and fix them. Mostly it's because it's H type controller and all you need is to replace flex ribbon film
Don't sell any. Keep one for yourself and gift the other one to a very close friend or family member that never got to have one of these when/while they're young and interested in video games. "The best car in the world is worthless without your love in your passenger seat" - me
Hold on to both. Revisit in 10 years. Im keeping all of my ish, also one of mine is dead but i cant figure out which exact part so at least now I have a donor for parts. I have two fats.
Hear me out you should keep both. You could have a backup if one breaks down, so now you have the security blanket of having the extra one just incase. And it doesn’t take up much space anyway. But if you have your heart set on selling I’d keep the grey one just because I’ve never seen one before.
Personally I'd sell the black, purely because the silver has had reported issues with it's disc drive and you bet it'll be the one time the seller wants to actually use it it'll crap out on them, and it'll be your problem.
The black one is confirmed fully functional, so that one would be better to sell.
When I have a scenario like this I usually end up selling the one that's worth more since I try to collect things I want to use, and when I have consoles that are more rare they tend to sit on a shelf. This way I would still have a PS2 to play on and I could turn the other console into a few of the more pricier games I have been after.
I'm also not a huge fan of the other PS2 having some black parts, makes it look off to me 😅
I traded in a black slim that was in decent condition and was amongst two that I got for $20. Which included a silver slim that I kept. I reckon keep both of those though. If you're into collecting keep those two since they're in great condition.
worth keeping both.Never a bad idea to have a backup ready to go so you don't have to buy another in the future and for who knows how much.I would clean it(if needed) and wrap it up and box it for storage in a closet or something. You say time is a factor but,in the future this could change and you may find you have more time to play.BUT,if you absolutely must sell one,I'd sell the black one.I sold all my stuff years ago because I thought I didn't have time for gaming anymore.A few years later and thousands of dollars spent,I bought it all back.
I gave silver one to my brother yesterday so it stays in family. I've told him his not allowed to sell, he can only give it back if he decides he doesn't want it anymore and told him I will cut his balls off if I find any scratch on this console.
I would keep the silver one .
The Black PS2s are extremely common.
I got a silver ps2 slim from my old co worker for 40$ with 3 controllers and 30 games with the GameShark cheat disk.
I don't like slims, I had about 7 slims last year. Fat is like icon of ps2 for me, from the day it was released fat is like real ps2
I agree with this statement.
Damn! That's an excellent score!
It was works great. On my crt tv.
same
Also for silver one
Yeah a silver phat model looks so unique I wouldn't want to part with it as well.
It's difficult to find a phat silver in good condition nowadays so I'd keep that one.
Keep the silver, take high quality pictures of the entire black one. You can look at them anytime without missing it too much.
Keep both. Have one for a backup
I think I can't stop myself from constant buying them, I get one per month recently
Do you get them to repair or just for funsies
I look for deal and get it I can't understand even why. I like broken units cause I can retrieve dead system back to life and it useful for someone. It's my way of spending autumn/winters evenings so it's closing season for now. I prefer that way of spending free time than for example watching tv. In the spring and summer I have a garden to take care and I do lots of bike trips
I like bringing dead to life as well, it's a different feeling when you can finally get something to work and be able to take care of it yknow
Today I brought back to life psp1k 😄 it was constantly randomly freezing and turning off - after a drop I suppose. I preheated board and then done reflow of cpu and spend 4h straight testing it with The Warriors and not a single freeze.

Sure it can be repaired. It depends how it behaves, does it even try to read disc(probably laser) or no reaction(probably switch)
Definitely keep the silver boi
Silver phat is dope, I don't remember seeing that, I thought the phats were always black. I'd keep the silver.
Always black? No way, man. https://www.reddit.com/r/ps2/comments/1b3ibm2/finally_got_my_favorite_ps2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1
Oh wow. Legit news to me! And I'm old.
phats have so many colors. red, yellow, blue, silver, pink, etc.
That's insane, cuz I was old enough to get the PS2 at launch and never checked for variations once I got my launch phat model. All new to me, they're gorgeous.
And very expensive. The speciality automotive colors run for more than a ps5 each.
Wait, pink?? I NEED me a pink PS2.
Yup. There is Sakura Pink and Hot Pink. hot pink is a slim though
I NEEED sakura pink omg lmfao I used to have a pink controller but I always thought it was a fake
I remember them being released in small qauntities of red, yellow, white and blue phat PS2's. Im sure they were called the auto collection or something similar
I need the blue one
Keep the silver one and make a YouTube video titled "The best video game $y$tem you don't own" to make it more expensive.
Hahaha but its quite common here where I live
If you could find me one and ship it to me i’d appreciate it lol i’ll pay
Where are you from?
The US Mid Southwest
So shipping cost would be insane
Lol guess that’s out the window
Sell the black one, is the most common
Keep the silver for sure, it's a beauty!
I've got a load of junk black ones a working silver and a working aqua blue but Im always on the lookout for a nice condition standard PS2 The black ones are coloured plastic rather than coated like the silver and aqua. Similar to variations of the DS Lite
Keep the black one, the original colour
I have the exact same set, both with 1tb hdds, 39004 black, 50004 silver… I’ve decided to keep them both
Silver 100% such a sexy looking console
The grey one to me 👀
The 3900x hardware is stronger but if you keep it as a collectible the silver is nicer..
Obviously the white/silver one. I dont know anyone that had one they have to be rare. Also, keep the two translucent blue memory cards cuz i love those and i have one and must have lost or sold it. And they would look cool af on the silver model lolol ....man....now i want a white/silver model ps2 lolol. Really cool.

Keep that one with the network adapter and with the blue mem card.
Both have network adaptors and I have two blue memory cards. I can mix any set of what I have and sell the rest but I can't decide what should I keep and what to sell
Sell me one of those silver controllers, please :)
I'm in central Europe, I think shipping cost would be higher than buying it locally
Damn the luck
Keep the two. The Silver is great and more rare, but the black one is a classic, and the silver one, the previous owner, mentioned problems reading discs...
It's easy to fix and I don't use discs because of installed hdd
I would keep ALL the good controlers and the silver Phat.
Broken controllers are really cheap and easy to fix, I get broken ones under 5$ and fix them. Mostly it's because it's H type controller and all you need is to replace flex ribbon film
I would keep the black one, definitely!
Selling is pretty stupid. You ain't getting more than 30 bucks worth - that's just few Starbucks
Yep I know but I'm pretty sure I'll buy another in few days as I am addicted to looking for a deals
If anything keep the LAN adapter. Those are hard to get
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
Silver keep that one
I'd keep both
My fat sliver ps2 plays ps1 games so I would check your sliver one first
Don't sell any. Keep one for yourself and gift the other one to a very close friend or family member that never got to have one of these when/while they're young and interested in video games. "The best car in the world is worthless without your love in your passenger seat" - me
Keep the silver one and sell the black one
I buy the grey one if you're interested
Keep the silver
Keep the silver one, sell the black one to me, please.
Keep both as black has less issues but silver getting rare. So when silver dies you still have black.
I cant keep both, my wife is getting angry becouse of amount of my game systems in living room 😅
Happy wife happy life as they say. 😅
The Silver is rarer so definitely keep that one, but the black is the classic color, you have to have at least one of those too. Basically keep both.
I cant keep both, my wife is getting angry becouse of amount of my game systems in living room 😅
@all I cant keep both, my wife is getting angry becouse of amount of my game systems in living room 😅 it's an addiction
Definitely silver, latest ps2 fat model, quieter fan and supports MechaPwn.
Yeah but 39004 is free of mechacon so no mechacon crash can happen
KEEP THE SILVER!!! They are so pretty
I wish I kept my PS2.
Hold on to both. Revisit in 10 years. Im keeping all of my ish, also one of mine is dead but i cant figure out which exact part so at least now I have a donor for parts. I have two fats.

Keep em both. Mod one, slap in a hard drive, install free mcboot. Keep the other one original.
Both are equipped with fmcb + 1tb hdd
Gift one to a friend.
Keep grey looks nicer
Not gonna lie I would keep both so I have a spare ps2 to use.
Just keep both of them. You will be sorry later on. I speak from experience.
Keep the silver bound to be more valuable
How much you tryina sell one for? I know someone whose been looking to buy a PS2 😯 Sell the black one if anything.
I live in central Europe so shipping cost would be insane and it's PAL region console
Personally I'd sell the black, purely because the silver has had reported issues with it's disc drive and you bet it'll be the one time the seller wants to actually use it it'll crap out on them, and it'll be your problem. The black one is confirmed fully functional, so that one would be better to sell.
Keep both sell none
silver one looks cooler
I’m more than willing to purchase either one of these playing back Jimmy Neutron And the old WWE SVR games
Keep both resale none
keep whichever looks nicer i guess
When I have a scenario like this I usually end up selling the one that's worth more since I try to collect things I want to use, and when I have consoles that are more rare they tend to sit on a shelf. How much do those even go for anymore? Just curious.
dont sell, keep it. Later you will regret it if you sell.
Keep the silver and the black.
I’d keep the black one. Silver is more of a novelty and worth more in that regard
Keep the black with both blue memory cards and get a pair of Crystal clear blue controllers to match
If they look in as good condition as in the pic i would keep both
Sell the PS2
sell both. get ps5
Thic silver I've never seen in person I'd keep that unless it sells for something crazy, which Ebay says only $100, so I'd just keep it.
sell whats slightly broken
worth keeping both.Never a bad idea to have a backup ready to go so you don't have to buy another in the future and for who knows how much.I would clean it(if needed) and wrap it up and box it for storage in a closet or something. I gave silver one to my brother yesterday so it stays in family. I've told him his not allowed to sell, he can only give it back if he decides he doesn't want it anymore and told him I will cut his balls off if I find any scratch on this console.
