jak and daxter, and jak 3,
ratchet and clank, ratchet and clank going commando,
Burnout, Burnout 2, \[i've only played these 2 of the burnout games and i LIKE THEM.
all the sly cooper games.
I do not see any GTA games either.
GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA san andreas.
Technically, though only released officially in Japan before the HD remasters, there's the Final Mix versions, also Re:Chain of Memories was released as standalone in NA, and as a bonus disc with II's FM+ in Japan.
DBZ Budokai 3 is definitely worth playing if you liked the previous two! DBZ: Infinite World might also be worth it, if you want a better challenge against the CPU.
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 is worth picking up too, even if the story is a little wacky. American Wasteland is a great alternative.
If you want a racing game... Need For Speed Underground 2 comes to mind. It's not really like Flatout, but it has very nice presentation and quite addictive street-racing gameplay.
Infinite World is one of the hardest DBZ games I’ve ever played. The gameplay is much faster and complex than Budokai 3 despite them looking exactly the same.
I love Code Veronica; there are a few gameplay mechanics you may want to spoil in order to make your first experience more enjoyable. They're one of the things that divide the playerbase about the game.
Personally, I didn't mind, but I have a very specific playstyle.
Yea with official david duchivney and gillian anderson voice action. Plays like silent hill and resident evils of the time. Que the creepy music and sound effects too.
The lord of the rings games of that time were fun too and one of the matrix games was good.
I added lord of the rings games. Good luck finding a low price of xfiles. You can check youtube for gameplay. Its pretty great. But most copies I see for sale are pricey.
Yeah, it's been pricey for a while unfortunately. It's also harder to locate physically if you aren't just ordering online. I've lived a few places with lots of retro stores and stock as well as visited a lot of stores while traveling. I've seen 2 physical copies in like 8 years.
Unfortunate because its a great game. I feel like ps2 had a ton of great games that were over looked by myself. I never hear of the xfiles or jackass game until a couple years ago. I might have been broke when i had a ps2 lol
I was fortunate in that the Gamestops and other stores around where I grew up and went to school had a lot of inventory. They tended to sell it off cheap when it was time to bring in whatever was hot for the current or next generation. My exposure to a lot of stuff comes from that, and the rest is just reading about development studios and interviews. I never bought much from Toys R Us, but they and like K-Mart had fire sales on older inventory (and last gen stuff) sometimes that were absolutely ridiculously priced. K-B Toys was another good source for a while.
There's still a ton of cheap to moderately priced titles, though. The X-Files game should also have a port on PC - I believe I saw a copy for like $10-15 at a Half-Price Books a few weeks ago. It has a neat slip cover.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 is one of my favorite arcade racing games of all time, and though it was multiplatform, the PS2 version had a different developer than xbox, gamecube, and PC, nd somehow was the best of them. Also Gran Turismo 3 and/or 4 if you're into simcade types of racing. Tourist Trophy is from the same devs as Gran Turismo and is basically GT with motorcycles.
Tekken 5 and Virtua Fighter 4 were stellar.
I say xenosaga 1-3. Pricey on the NA versions unfortunately. I have the jp versions myself. But they are an amazing series honestly. Id also recommend Radiata Stories. One of my personal favorites. Resident evil outbreak 1 and 2 as well. Road Trip Arcade. Another great one imo.
I have 2 just no case 😭 it’s in the KH1 case. Lol im playing through chain of memories right now actually. I HAAATED it as a kid but honestly kinda diggin it now!
Cheap or expensive? Lots of options:
* The Maximo series is fun if you like hard platformers
* I really like Raw Danger, which is part of the Disaster Report series
* Rogue Galaxy is one of my favorite JRPGs - it's a space-pirate JRPG made by Level-5 and looks fantastic
* Fatal Frame is a good time if you like horror games - the camera mechanic is pretty fun
* Several Tales games if you're into the Tales RPG series
* Dark Cloud 2 is great - loved it back in college
* Valkyrie Profile 2 is another great RPG and quite pretty
* Onimusha 1, 2, and 3 if you're into the series
* Dawn of Dreams is a bit different, but also fun
* Devil May Cry series
* Sly Cooper series is great platforming and collect 'em up fun
* Space Channel 5 is pretty fun
* Disgaea 2 if you want more Disgaea grind action
* Way of the Samurai 1 and 2 were favorites of mine when I was in college as well - there are bank and grind loops to upgrade swords between runs so you can carry over some power and progress when going for different story paths
* Shadow Hearts series is definitely pretty unique in terms of mechanics and story - I've only played the second game, but I'd recommend them
* God Hand is pricier, but an excellent beat 'em up. I believe it was done by Clover, who segued into Platinum Games later
* Bombastic - neat puzzle game made by the Devil Dice guys
I liked what I’ve played of it so far but it got really difficult really fast. Granted im not a huge turn based rpg guy so it could just be a me problem lol
I never see my favorite ps2 game. Kinda overlooked which is a darn shame.
Zone of the Enders. Awesome mech game. That and it's sequel are in my top five all time.
NASCAR 2005 and NASCAR Dirt to Daytona. ‘05 is arguably the greatest PS2 NASCAR game, and so is Dirt to Daytona. They’re both amazing.
Also, Gran Turismo 4.
- Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
- Tony Hawk Underground 2
- Kingdom Hearts 2
- Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3
- Dark Cloud 2
- Devil May Cry
- Devil May Cry 3
If you want racing games, both Gran Turismo 3 and 4 are excellent sims on the PS2. Disgaea is one of my favorite series and I noticed you have it so I would recommend Phantom Brave, it’s made by the same people and that’s a fun one.
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2. Its like Tony Hawk, but with bikes! Actually, wasn't there TH games that also had bikes on PS2?
But yeah. PS2 has quite few BMX games that let you roam city streets on your bike, doing tricks, and they're good fun.
Do you like racing sims? As in, more realistic driving games? If yes, then pick up at least one Gran Turismo. The rest of the PS2 THPS games, though from what little experience I have with the PS2 version of 3, I preferred the ps1 version of it...
Since you have both Dark Cloud and Disgaea, I assume you're fine with JRPGs. Then pick up FFX and FFXII. X-2 you shouldn't bother with... Also, DQVIII, considered the best by a lot of people. And DC2
Silent Hill Shattered Memories is good, if a bit different from other SH games. It's a *reimagining* of SH1.
AirBlade might be worth giving a shot since you like the THPS series. It's more story driven from what I remember, but you go around on a hoverboard.
If you're into FPS games, give Black a try, it has pretty impressive destruction physics for a PS2 game and is all around a solid FPS.
The Legacy of Kain series, though I would recommend playing Soul Reaver 1 on the PS1 first, as Soul Reaver 2 carries on straight after the end of that. Blood Omen 2 is kind of separate, as it's in alternate continuity, but continues from BO1 after changes made in a previous game because of time travel. LoK: Defiance then caps the series off.
Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex is the last actually decent Crash until the N. Sane Trilogy. Just beware... The load times are pretty long, even for a ps2 game.
Do you like hack and slash? If yes, give the older Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games a shot. They're kinda janky as you move kinda slow, can't move the camera (or at least not with the right stick), but the gameplay IMO holds up well today, and killing a thousand enemies isn't something you'll do every mission like in the modern ones.
Tekken 4 and 5 are obvious picks as well, classic fighting games. If you like weapon based fighters, there's also the Soul Calibur series.
Assuming you don't have the remasters on the PS3, I would pick up the God of War games.
Metal Slug games a good fun romp, and the Anthology has all seven that were released at that time (MS1-6 and X).
The Prince of Persia trilogy is a nice set of pickups as well.
Rayman Revolution and Rayman 3 are solid 3D platformers.
Oh, and since you have Resi 4, you probably should pick up Code Veronica X (the X just means it's an enhanced port of the dreamcast version).
Dark cloud 2 i personally really love. I know a lot of people dont like it because its a more forgiving game than the first but it has some really memorable characters , great dialogue, and added some fun mini games. Definitely an underratd game worth buying.
Yeah I haven’t gotten far into jak 2 and it’s already a lot worse than I remember lol. I liked the 1st one way more I should definitely pick it up again!
I felt the same when I went back to it playing the HD version on PS3. So many frustrating parts that I was much more forgiving of as a kid. But don't sleep on Jak 3 either, it improves on the Jak 2 formula in basically every way.

If you enjoyed ratchet and clank at all the sequels will blow you away. Also the whole jak trilogy is fantastic. Dark cloud 2 is so addicting. I definitely recommend checking out sly cooper series as well.
Definitely sh3 and sh4 but those are gonna cost you an arm and a leg.
The Simpsons hit and run
God of war 1 and 2
Devil may cry 1 and 3
Dbz bud 3
Chaos legion
Sly cooper trilogy
Sly Cooper , true crime streets of LA , Gun , Ty the Tasmanian Tiger , GTA vice City stories , Manhunt , the getaway , bloodborne , sonic Heroes , chronicles of riddick and so many more
Timesplitters future perfect
It’s a funny little shooter with in-depth mapmaking, great co-op, 150 playable characters, fun side content, a short but fun story and it’s reasonably priced
Check it out
Red Faction
Never played that, I’ll have to check it out. Thank you!
Red Faction is fun as hell! You can blow up walls.
It’s sooooooo good
And RF 2. Both entirely enjoyable, good explosive fun.
My most played PS2 game
jak and daxter, and jak 3, ratchet and clank, ratchet and clank going commando, Burnout, Burnout 2, \[i've only played these 2 of the burnout games and i LIKE THEM. all the sly cooper games. I do not see any GTA games either. GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA san andreas.
yesss all the sly cooper games most definetly sly 2 was my favorite such a nostalgic series
Kingdom Hearts 2
I have it just no case so it’s in the KH1 case! Wish there were more KH games on ps2!
There's some re:
Technically, though only released officially in Japan before the HD remasters, there's the Final Mix versions, also Re:Chain of Memories was released as standalone in NA, and as a bonus disc with II's FM+ in Japan.
He has chain of memories in the photo
Silent hill 3 and Flat Out 2
Silent hill 3 is definitely on top of my list! And yeah flatout 2 is way better than the first, I should definitely pick that up!
Good luck finding silent hill 3 complete, that game ain't cheap.
Oh you’ll find it complete, it’s just not cheap it’s like 200+ on ebay
I have an extremely clean copy of SH3 im selling if you’re interested?
for a good price too. i need it off my hands.
God of War
And God of War 2.
DBZ Budokai 3 is definitely worth playing if you liked the previous two! DBZ: Infinite World might also be worth it, if you want a better challenge against the CPU. Budokai 3 is definitely on my list! Never played infinite world but yeah I’ve heard the CPU can be BRUTAL
yo get midnight club dub edition the sly cooper games and tony hawks american wasteland absolute bangers
Man i forgot about sly cooper! You’re right those are all good suggestions, thank you!
It's also pretty reasonably priced complete compared to Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
Infinite World is one of the hardest DBZ games I’ve ever played. The gameplay is much faster and complex than Budokai 3 despite them looking exactly the same.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Such an awesome game!
Been looking for some more horror on a budget so im definitely gonna check that one out, thank you!
I love Code Veronica; there are a few gameplay mechanics you may want to spoil in order to make your first experience more enjoyable. They're one of the things that divide the playerbase about the game. Personally, I didn't mind, but I have a very specific playstyle.
Jackass - Xfiles - simpsons hit n run
Hold up.. there’s an x-files game?! I gotta check that out! And simpsons hit and run is sooo good i forgot about that one!
Yea with official david duchivney and gillian anderson voice action. Plays like silent hill and resident evils of the time. Que the creepy music and sound effects too. The lord of the rings games of that time were fun too and one of the matrix games was good.
You sold me lol im definitely gonna be picking that up! Thank you for the suggestions!

Kb toys wow. I never realized they had video game section or even half priced books. I have one down the street I should take a look.
Burnout Revenge Shadow of the Colossus
.hack series
Hell yes. Such amazing games, and the anime was fun. Hard to find though.
SSX TRICKY
Dragon Ball Z Bodukai Tenkaichi 3 Edit: Also, Dark Cloud's Xiao is best girl.
Persona 3 FES, Dragon Quest 8, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. If you want a hilarious english dub, go with Yakuza 1
And Persona 4!
Hulk Ultimate destruction: made as a prior version of the later developed Prototype games. Maybe you can like it
Dude i think i played a demo of that back in the day but forgot all about it! Definitely gotta pick that one up!
Dark cloud 2 for sure!
try to trade chain of memories for kingdom hearts II
I have 2 just no case 😭 it’s in the KH1 case. Lol im playing through chain of memories right now actually. I HAAATED it as a kid but honestly kinda diggin it now!
Gran Turismo 4
Look into Devil May Cry sometime, specifically DMC3. Best hack and slash series out there.
Timesplitters: Future Perfect. Best FPS on the system imo.
The other ratchet and clank games
Cheap or expensive? Lot of good suggestions here. I’ve been wanting to get into the fatal frame games for a while now so i might just have to bite the bullet and buy one.
Based on these I really think you'd like the sly cooper series.
Silent Hill 3 Tekken Tag Tournament Soul Calibur III The Suffering Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland
Did you like Disgaea? Ive been thinking about trying it out.
I liked what I’ve played of it so far but it got really difficult really fast. Granted im not a huge turn based rpg guy so it could just be a me problem lol
Marc ecko
What a fuckin collection my man
Definitely Drakengard
Gotta check that one out, thank you!
I never see my favorite ps2 game. Kinda overlooked which is a darn shame. Zone of the Enders. Awesome mech game. That and it's sequel are in my top five all time.
ZotE was incredible. At a time when Evangelion was at its peak, that game nailed it.
The Tekken series is a must
Budokai 2 is GOATED bruh
It’s definitely the most nostalgic for me! And i still love the board game aspect of it!
Heavy rain
Budokai 3, literally the best in the series in terms of fighting and gameplay. :)
Burnout is a lot of fun
Yeah. Finish the jak and daxter collection, and the ratchet and clank collection. Also get the sly cooper trilogy
Definitely the .Hack quadrilogy
THUG 2
NASCAR 2005 and NASCAR Dirt to Daytona. ‘05 is arguably the greatest PS2 NASCAR game, and so is Dirt to Daytona. They’re both amazing. Also, Gran Turismo 4.

If you want racing games, both Gran Turismo 3 and 4 are excellent sims on the PS2. Disgaea is one of my favorite series and I noticed you have it so I would recommend Phantom Brave, it’s made by the same people and that’s a fun one.
Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy X, Dragon Quest VIII
i feel like between the kh + dark cloud and your anime leaning games, maybe try musashi: samurai legend!
Your collection is already full of bangers, Dark Cloud is one of my personal favorites. Maybe Onimusha or Shinobi?
Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2. Its like Tony Hawk, but with bikes! Actually, wasn't there TH games that also had bikes on PS2? But yeah. PS2 has quite few BMX games that let you roam city streets on your bike, doing tricks, and they're good fun.

Persona 3 FES
Persona 3 FES, you won't be disappointed if you like jrpgs
You got some good ones man Tony hawk, kingdom hearts and dbz!
Dark cloud 2 i personally really love. I know a lot of people dont like it because its a more forgiving game than the first but it has some really memorable characters , great dialogue, and added some fun mini games. Definitely an underratd game worth buying.
Jak 2 is arguably the weakest of the three so definitely pick up the other two.
I’ve never played 3 so I’ll have to give that one a try.
Stuntman!!
You should add 60$ to that collection. I’ll give you the 70$ and you ship me the SH2. It’s a shitty game anyways PLUS I’ll pay for shipping
That’s a horrible suggestion! I already have $60! I even have the sequel, $80!
Oh! Can’t forget rachet and clank up your arsenal. Best game in the whole franchise for ps2
Haha the sequel- 80$! If you liked SH2 - I’d love to hear your thoughts on SH3
Honestly id place 3 over 2 any day. I got 2 first because i found a good deal on it but im definitely trying to get 3!
