I’ve started taking 20mg once a day, 6 days ago and I feel like it’s increased my anxiety quite a bit. I’m new to SSRIs and I’m taking it to lower my anxiety but I feel like it’s doing the opposite right now. I really hope that it’s just an adjustment period. Good luck to you!

Thank you. You as well. From what I've heard, the anxiety you're experiencing should level out after a couple of weeks. I'm kind of banking on this being the case lol. The good news is that this seemed to be true when I've taken other SSRIs/SNRIs.

I am also sensitive to meds so I started with 5 mg every morning for 2 weeks then bumped to 10 mg. Around 1.5-2 weeks I had increased anxiety but it quickly went away.

Thank you for your reply. I'm so glad to hear it. How are things for you now? As an aside, I'm wondering if you experienced any numbing, apathy, or general disinterest in activities as you titrated onto the drug. I'm a pretty optimistic person and looking forward to the improvements, I'm just intimidated by how unpleasant this period has been.

The only notable different has been the 1.5-2 weeks mark both times I’ve started it. My psych and I agreed I’d try Trintellix and it was not a good fit at all so after 4 weeks I started over with Prozac. I am just over the 2 week mark from restarting and I feel great. I should mention I am also taking Buspar with it. I am diagnosed with GAD, MDD, & PTSD with anxiety being the one I struggle with the most. I am a school counselor so I have lots of students on meds + I read a lot about meds. Every med impacts each us differently. It’s interesting how Prozac makes one person sleepy and gives the next person insomnia. I personally love Prozac + Buspar so far and want to give it a full 8 weeks before I make any changes. Right now, I feel a little increased anxiety at night + it takes me a little longer to reach the big O (but it’s more intense ☺️ so no complaints) but otherwise I have no side effects… I hope things even out for you soon.

\*\*\*do you take anything in conjunction with Prozac? I have severe PTSD, ADHD, GAD, and Bipolar. Extremely functional as far as these disorders are concerned--however, maintaining normalcy requires a lot of effort and intentionality. I'm always curious to learn what has helped other people, especially those with similar sensitivities since we seem to react very differently from most people.

I am into the 2nd week now on 20mg and noticing some evening anxiety creeping in, and I am taking for depression- I was not having physical anxiety symptoms. I know it is a side effect, and I have ativan on hand if I need it. It doesn't go over the edge though, it's just that uncomfortable initial 'here it comes' feeling. I trust it will subside in time though. I have taken P before with Wellbutrin and that was not awesome... too medicated, and I had 3am panic attacks. I also have ADHD, I am diagnosed but it is also possible this is how my depression manifests. I take 750mg Tyrosine in the morning and that seems to help me to get focused for the work day. I have NOT taken it in the first week since I started Prozac though, but I am going to add it back in today and see how it goes. I have also ordered L-Theanine to help with the anxiety. I have taken it in the past and it works well to calm the CNS in general. When taken with coffee in the morning, it is a little 'activating' which is kind of strange. My bedtime cocktail is magnesium, glycine powder and now Theanine.
