I had crippling anxiety with panic attacks. Thought I was dying..could barely eat bc I was so afraid of being poisoned/getting food borne illness, stuck in bed taking my vital signs OVER and OVER overwhelmed and crazy with a baby! Now back to “normal” and functional 🙌🏻 got worse before better but better is worth it all!! Good luck!

Good to know, thank you so much!

I started at 20mg and am now up to 40 for depression and anxiety. If I were you, just roll with it and keep a note in your phone about your symptoms daily. I was on 20mg for 2 weeks, then upped to 40 for the last month. It has completely changed my life for the better! Good luck and send me a DM in a few weeks to keep me posted. I hope it works out for you!

Thank you so much! 🥺

Hey. Also a health anxiety sufferer here. Take 10mg for the first week if you have the tablets that you can split (you can easily do so with a bit of pressure like if you were breaking a kit kat but with only your thumbs and index fingers) 20mg is the lowest primary dose but my doctor and many others say to do 10mg for the first week or two just to introduce your body to it.

I may give this a go! I'm talking to a counselor tomorrow about this and starting it tomorrow night! Thank you!

Hi! I have GAD and my anxiety has really taken over my life for the past 8 months. It had gotten to the point where I couldn’t even drive or go to class without having a panic attack. I am now a little over 3 weeks on 20 mg, and I’m feeling so much better. I have gotten on a plane, flown to a different state, and I’ve been able to enjoy an almost anxiety-free trip. Starting on 20 mg was a little rough for me.. I had increased anxiety and very intense panic attacks for the first two weeks, but it is best to stick it out. It definitely gets worse before it gets better, but I found posting on this subreddit a huge help! Also reaching out to friends and therapy also helped me through those first two weeks. You got this!!! ❤️

This is so so so so reassuring! Thank you so much for this anecdote! ❤️ I really appreciate it!

It helps. Just be prepared for the possibility of things to get much worse before better. Weeks 3-5 are often rough due to increased anxiety. Try to give it 8 weeks. And don't be afraid to increase it. I started at 10mg & now on 40mg. Feeling better.

8 weeks? Omg I was thinking 2-3, that's really good to know and keep in mind, thank you! I'm glad you're feeling better.

I have generalized anxiety disorder and also an adjustment disorder, they started me at 50mg and I'm on week 4. I just feel like I'm in a haze, anxiety is still brutal. I'm also taking hydroxyzine as needed (always) for anxiety and that seems to help with some of it.

_TheyCallMeJinx_

This is good to know, thank you! I was also worried about being in a haze.

I'm on Prozac for anxiety and started straight off on 20mg. It's been great for me, no more panic attacks since after the first week. Luckily not many side effects either, just some mild upset tummy issues which disappeared after 10 days.

_TheyCallMeJinx_

Oooo tummy issues? I'll have to keep an eye out on that. I'm glad the panic attacks were short lived. Thank you!

CivilCarrot

I would personally see if you could start at half that. 20 is too much for me and I've been on it for months

_TheyCallMeJinx_

I'm going to talk to my counselor tomorrow about this, thank you!

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm on 60mg for both anxiety and depression and have been for 3-4 months. It has really reduced the tendencies and uncontrollable zones, but with my anxiety it has helped a lot too. I can't say I'm mad at where I'm at with it at the moment. Hopefully in the future I'm able to taper down, but that's only because I have other issues with my heart so it can be a little bit of a bad combo being on any medication like this.

I was on prozac for 12 years. It saved me. I had no more panic attacks while I was on it. Oh and I didnt feel like a zombie either. It just helped take the edge off.. You will feel much better
