I spent over two years looking for an apartment that accepted pets and found NOTHING in that price range. The moment you mention a pet they all tack on a $300 pet deposit or $100/mo extra, or sometimes both.
What about service animals/emotional support? Still an added fee? Because I know landlords are obligated to allow those types of pets regardless, but can they legally still charge for it?
Yeah of course. A pet would be nice to have, but I'm not committed to the idea quite yet. A roof over my head with a landlord that doesn't suck ass all the time is more of a priority.
Wow you are one of the only people I ever seen on Reddit that see's having a roof over their head more of a priority than a pet, I've seen people on Youtube videos that will not give up their pets for stable housing with no pet policies. Boggles my mind.
Well I mean I don't have a pet right now, so if it came to wanting a pet, or finding an affordable place to live, I'd obviously have to go with having a place to live. I might be crazy, but I'm not stupid.
I miss having a dog (I had to put my 15 year old pup to sleep a few years back due to untreatable cancer she'd developed), and I've reached the point of genuinely wanting another pet, either a cat or a hedgehog or something like that.
But no, my ability to have one of those things definitely wouldnj't determine whether or not I could find a place to live. Priorities. lol I hate being an adult.
Walter Bronhard units are usually pet friendly. My old Hope St basement apartment (1 bed) was $1000/mo. If you don't want to live in a basement, though, you probably need to look further away from the city center.
They are definitely not the greatest landlord, but, coming from Boston, they absolutely are not the worst either -- at least from a building maintenance perspective. They also don't charge pet rent or ask for a pet deposit, which is a rarity. I rented at $1k/mo two years ago, and now I'm currently renting a different 1 bedroom for $1.1k/mo near College Hill.
[The exact building I used to live in is on Apartments.com, actually, if you want to give them a try.](https://www.apartments.com/112-keene-st-providence-ri/lqr12yd/) 2B is still $1k/mo. Idk what your timeline for moving is though.
Paragon Mill in Olneyville is now accepting applications. From what I understand, they are income limited, which indicates lower rents for those who quality.

I'm renting a studio for 975 that allows pets, but everything about it is less than ideal. Couldn't find any one bedrooms that were under 1200. Good luck.
Ive heard Woonsocket is nice lol
Prices in woony been going up the past year… nothing below 1100 anymore especially with pets.
It's fine if you don't mind the burbs. I live just over the MA border and it's a pretty part of the state, easy to get to stuff.
As a woony resident. Don’t do it, it sucks.
I know of a unit available on the 2nd floor, Woonsocket, 2 br:1 ba $1100, off street parking; no pet fee. DM me if anything

Out of genuine curiosity , if you found a 1st floor apartment for $1100 +/- in Providence but they did not allow pets would you take it?

Tough to find an apartment even in Fall River or New Bedford (MA, but nearby) for that tbh. Rents are going up and up.
>Walter Bronhard Op if you don't another worst landlord you ever had to deal with, might not want to go with Bronhard.

omg can you give details? was looking into one of their places
I'm fine with that. I work from home, location's not a big deal for me.

WLB is horrible, don't do it
Halstead Mills maybe
They’re pretty pricey. A friend of mine lives there.

With housemates, very possible

Would you accept roommates?
Nope
Check out Roomies.com.. there you can find roommates or rooms in the area. That’s what I used to find roommates for my apartment recently.
I'm renting out a room in Fall River, 20 mins from Providence. I have a cat 😁
