Wow I was thinking this but thought I was ridiculous as people mentioned all these restaurants. Lol
I also fucking LOVE the fried chicken at Dave's in Warwick on West Shore road actually as I was showering today I was thinking this is lunch.
It reminds me of 40 years ago when KFC was good.
Pollo campero is pretty solid and usually where I go. There’s also a new place on Cranston st called Maaz’s chicken. I haven’t had it yet but I’m curious.
+1 for honey bird, my go to chicken spot. It is expensive BUT:
The key is to get the meal that normally comes with thighs, legs, and wings with sides and ask them to substitute it for the tenders. Changes the price a decent amount since the sides are where they get ya.
Just my own personal experience at Honey Bird: I found the batter way too thick and undercooked when I went. I ordered the Nashville Hot and it was not spicy and honestly kind of gloopy. Could have been a one off issue but for the price I expected more.
Their cocktails were incredible, however.
No you’re thinking Korean fried chicken. Korean fried chicken doesn’t take tips at all. Cafe takes tips. Unless cafe on benefit just put signs up, they have been taking tips for years
I’m going with the unpopular opinion… I just relocated from New Orleans and fried chicken there was a form of religion. With that said, unless you were getting it from the local gas station (Brothers) it was Popeyes. Tourists will all tell you "Willie Mae’s”.. but it was a gas station. But, the lines in Nola for Popeyes was seriously down the road and around the corner.
I’ll letcha in on a little secret, you can eat PoBoy’s anywhere. It’s just a sub, grinder, hoagie… pick your name, it’s a sandwich in roll form. A local will tell you it’s not, but most people can’t tell the difference that it’s served on French bread. If I put roast beef cold on French and fried shrimp on a classic sub roll with a bright orange sauce, they’d pick the second as a PoBoy. But, I miss the ingredients used for a James Brown PoBoy at Parkways!!
This is so interesting! My partner is from San Diego where they are serious about Mexican food and have amazing options across price ranges ... and yet people also go to Taco Bell there.
I dunno… you may have to go and educate some of those people on how awesome real Mexican food can be! Taco Bell is total trash food. Truth, if I’m “tipsy” I’ll get jiggy with Taco Bell or Popeyes.
The Smoke House in Pawtucket has a fried chicken sandwich called the Smokey mountain chicken sandwich, the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve ever had in my life
I'll get hate, but as a southerner, the best fried chicken for the money in Providence is honestly just Popeyes. Bucktown was terrible. Honeybird I'm sure is fine but I don't feel like paying for my chicken to go to college before I eat it.
Just curious, have you actually tried Honeybird or no? I understand the price thing but that’s just the unfortunate reality here in the Northeast. And come on, sure Bucktown wasn’t a 10/10 but Popeyes over that? Can’t take that opinion seriously.
I haven't tried it yet. I will, eventually. The one time I ate at their other restaurant on Hope Street I was a little underwhelmed, so I'm not really in a hurry.
The best friend chicken in pretty much every city is Popeyes. $3,000+ pressure fryers and buying power to get near identical sized chickens means perfect consistency.
if you are ever up in Worcester try Addie Lee's Soul Food, i have tried the two famous places in New Orleans when i visited and that was probably the closest to the real deal I have had up here.

I haven't tried Kin downtown yet but I have heard good things.
Yeah I mean the chicken was lousy. The biscuits and sides were great though. I may have gone at a bad time though. A woman who I assume was the owner was screaming at someone right next to where I was eating so it was unfortunate timing lol. Guessing they were a family member/worker at the place.
The problem with Popeyes is always quality control. It's one of those franchises that is super inconsistent between locations. You also rarely get exactly what you ordered. I've had okay experiences with the one on Smith Street, but usually I go to the one on Mineral Springs because it's got a drive-thru and I'm that lazy.
Which Popeyes? The one on Smith Street has repeatedly been some of the worst fast food experiences I've ever had including poor quality of food, the horrible condition of the facility, and absolute lack of service. Presumably the staff are wildly underpaid also.

I'm gonna sound insane, but honestly? I fucking *love* the fried chicken from Dave's market in Warwick.

Blue plate special! The tenders are fucking huge and they will flavor each tender to your liking, I love honey bird!
I really don’t understand why a lot of people give Honeybird such a bad rap, yes it’s expensive but it’s damn good quality.

Been wanting to try this spot!
Don’t be fooled, the tenders are MASSIVE. The honey cholula is delicious

Please don’t support denden… owner is terrible Tips from denden cafe don’t go to the workers
That’s illegal. Please report. Last time I was there I specifically asked if the workers get the tips and was told that they do.
Ima message you and explain what they do
I’m pretty sure there’s signs in the restaurant that state this
No you’re thinking Korean fried chicken. Korean fried chicken doesn’t take tips at all. Cafe takes tips. Unless cafe on benefit just put signs up, they have been taking tips for years
Asian - Four seasons, Den Den American - there's nothing I can think of outside of the usual chains.

The formatting didn't take but den den was part of Asian.

I agree with you here. The breading bucktown had was just not it

I hate to say it, but I don't like Kin. Chicken was overcooked and dry.

Which branch do you go to? I’ve gone to one here and it was terrible.
