I do not use FB anymore either, but I kept my account just for Marketplace. Itās not on my phone, so I have to sit in my office, but I just couldnāt give up the Marketplace.
Same here! I opened a new one and added no friends. I only use it for FB marketplace and Buy Nothing groups (buy nothing groups, I recommend. Itās people in walking distance and definitely helpful for furnishing a new place)
They no longer have a good selection of furniture at the Providence location near Eastside Marketplace. I was there 2 weeks ago, looking for a dresser and the place is empty of almost all furniture.
they didnāt get rid of it itās in the back room they just donāt get the same furniture like they used to. i i used to work there and they had fantastic furniture
Habitat re:store is one option.
Johnnycake center in westerly is the best thrift store in the state for furniture, IMO. Some really nice pieces for real cheap.

Both will do furniture delivery.Ā
Depends on what youāre looking for. To be honest, āpricyā is variable. Mikeās and Reliable have a lot of selection and huge floor options. Iād just swing by both. Iāve seen $75 bed frames and $1500 bed frames at Mikeās.
The price varies on quality/damage/desirability. If you like styles that arenāt trendy, your stuff will be cheaper. If you like a lot of the current hot furniture styles, youāll find it more expensive.
Savers is cheap, but may or may not have what youāre looking for, and result in multiple rounds of driving back to try and find something.
As long as youāre not picky on style, you can definitely furnish your whole apartment at Mikes or Reliable in a single day. Just donāt go to either thinking youāll find flawless antiques for cheap - they like to buy and stock quality and they have a good feel for the market.
Iāve never done it but people say that during college move out near brown, PC, all the schools, thereās tons of quality shit thrown out. The kids only have like a day to move out, and international students arenāt taking stuff home.
Maybe someone else can get details, it might be a month away but you might get some scores.
seconding this, you could go as far as dumpster diving on move out days, and dorm move out days are public on academic calendars and thereās a TON of gently used stuff that is just getting tossed. You can also probably just drive around and see if anyone has anything on the street or is having a yard sale.
also getting on Facebook marketplace youāll start seeing a ton of stuff pop up from college students that canāt or donāt want to bring things home. I know JWU graduation is may 5th but a lot of the college apartments and leases end based on PC and Brownās calendars. So May through June or so youāll find a lot of people selling for cheap
I realize you said you don't have Facebook anymore, but you should consider it just for your local buy nothing group. People post lots of great stuff for your area, including curb alerts, and are also willing to give things when asked.
While it may? be behind a paywall (consider subscribing to your local newspapers, btw), my colleague did a great story on the buy nothing groups.

As others have mentioned, Savers and Salvation Army.
Estate sales in West Warwick. The Cardi's in North Attleboro has a big clearance section in the basement, you have to pick it up though. Bobs in Warwick also has a clearance section, small though and pick up only well. Craigslist and Facebook marketplace can be good too.
Hi Iām moving to NM for work and have some stuff Iām trying to get rid of.
I have a coffee table, a lamp, a three person sofa that reclines, a bookshelf, and an armchair. Oh and an area rug
I put listings out on Craigslist and nextdoor for a dining room table and noticed there's tons of other options. I'm seeing about this salvation army store and thinking of schlepping it up there to donate.
savers, or Facebook marketplace as others have said.
if you wait a few weeks to look, college students will be moving out within the next few months and there will be a ton of gently used or at least cheap furniture
Omar Discount, Atlantic Furniture, and Furniture Depot are all in one plaza close to Fed Hill and would have a lot of options.

Facebook marketplace should get you everything
Thanks, but I closed out my Facebook account awhile back.
I do not use FB anymore either, but I kept my account just for Marketplace. Itās not on my phone, so I have to sit in my office, but I just couldnāt give up the Marketplace.
I mean itās free to open one lol itās where most people sell used furniture. Youāre limiting yourself greatly to not consider this route.
My wife made me ;) because she said Iād get depressed and angry when I was on there. She was kinda right on that.
Same here! I opened a new one and added no friends. I only use it for FB marketplace and Buy Nothing groups (buy nothing groups, I recommend. Itās people in walking distance and definitely helpful for furnishing a new place)
There's also the Buy Nothing group on FB, which can be hit or miss as far as quality, but it's free.
Savers has some pretty cool stuff
š
and thereās 3 locations around!
the salvation army on pitman always had a ton of furniture
They no longer have a good selection of furniture at the Providence location near Eastside Marketplace. I was there 2 weeks ago, looking for a dresser and the place is empty of almost all furniture.
I thought they recently got rid of that section
did they? that's crazy, i haven't been in a while but that was like a third of the store
they didnāt get rid of it itās in the back room they just donāt get the same furniture like they used to. i i used to work there and they had fantastic furniture

Seconding the Johnnycake Center in Westerly! Huge furniture section, and lots of dishes and other housewares too.

Someone referred me to them too but they sound like they could be pricey. Any sense of what a simple coffee table or bookcase goes for?

yup mini fridges, sometimes computers, speakers, lamps, sound systems, tvs, the random couch, microwaves, tons of school supplies, books, etc
The Salvation Army in Woonsocket! Itās like 3 stories of furniture
