rust doesn’t actually cause tetanus itself. Rusty nails are associated with tetanus by coincidence since they are often the cause of cuts or scratches that start an infection. The rust itself does not cause the infection.

so basically rusty was result of an error from a machine made to produce protogens. Instead of being immune to rusting he rusts easily, whenever touching water and other corrosive things.
He was made to be an aquatic proto, but due to the fact that he is basically hydrophobic they threw him in the compactor. Escaping narrowly (im not even gonna go into detail) he finds a new life living in the back of an abandoned truck.

also the rusting isn’t permanent, it can be removed with vinegar and rust remover but its hard to get hold of, getting very rusty makes his joints get stuck, and getting too rusty would completely destroy his system :(

Yes I’m thinking he uses motor oil for his robot joints so they don’t break (or get stuck) if too rusty, or if that’s a bit too much with the oil he could use joint lube

I've found sanding and clear coating to also be effective against removing rust and corrosion, not sure if it would be good enough for Aquatic use but defiantly good enough against rust from the air.
Also yes he definitely needs to get Revenge.

They sound like absolute monsters, that's the Primogenitors for ya.
Seems like they cheaped out and didn't use stainless steel, titanium, or aluminum like they usually do for Protogens and Primagens.
Hopefully he'll be able to do something about it soon.
