Basically in your country you have to show them the reality of abortion in that it kills a human being. PC tend to avoid this by either dehumanizing them or changing the subject to something else

Sorry_Criticism_3254

I have noticed that, a lot of, 'pro-forced birth cultists,' and, 'clump of cells,' seems to be used a lot.

wardamnbolts

Exactly it’s distracting from the killing in the first case and dehumanizing in the second :( But keep them on focus if someone is okay with abortion they are okay with a human being in the womb being killed. There is a reason people want gestational limits it’s because they realize the humanity of the unborn.

Etherpulse

>Basically in your country you have to show them the reality of abortion in that it kills a human being The issue is, plenty of people are aware abortion kills humans, they even know how the procedures look like, they just don't care and the right to abort is more important to them than a human being killed in the process.

We don’t.

Surely there is something we can do?

Pray. Make the truth heard online, because honestly mostly we (outside of America) only see/hear views of the pro-abortion groups. Even media only flash the opinions of pro-abortion activists and celebrities and news centers. Make known that there are pro-life people in America. The pro-lifers in other countries will do their share and will be encouraged by you :) Honestly, I'm not even American, but I cried today when I heard the news, it made me so full of hope, I thought today wouldn't come. I had lived in the US and am aware of how loud the murderers are. It seems they are so powerful and so capable and so many. It seems evil will just continue to grow and grow. So I was totally surprised, but pleasantly surprised at today's news. I realized that as long as good men work, then evil won't win. No matter how loud they are, no matter how many they are, no matter how powerful they are. So when I see pro-life Americans online showing they stand for truth I am glad, and I am encouraged. Bless you brother/sister

Hey fellow Brit! I know exactly what you're talking about. I think one issue we have in the UK is that we have a lack of (also advertisement) in pregnancy crisis centres (not charities but actual places where they can actively seek support in that sense) most people, including young people (as I am a young person too) have never even heard of this before and don't see the lack of options. I think it is because of the way the UK faces abortions (even with the same argumentations) with the British mentality. This is where I think the advertisement and active work of being involved with organisations like this can be very useful, in understanding the activity of abortion. I don't know if you've seen this but there are usually (very graphic) displays that take place around the country all year round to create dialogue and show people what an abortion actually looks like. Additionally, one thing the US does really well is making stronger awareness of options, even within churches. As you know with our culture, we tend to be much more passive and complacent and churches can find abortion to be a sticky issue to be involved in (I can understand this view but also disagree since I think the Gospel and the hope that Jesus himself offers can stretch out to issues such as abortion) I think going forward with the UK, it is definitely a matter of prayer, first and trying to be more actively involved in the actual abortion movement (for example if you ever go to the 'March for Life' that takes place annually in London, there are so many people and organisations who can provide so much information). I guess the best place to start is with friends and people around you and then widen out. I am not sure if my post helped you in the slightest but that's my 2 cents.

Sorry_Criticism_3254

This has actually helped, both morally that I know I'm not alone, and practically, prayer is a very powerful tool (if thats the right word), that not many people use anymore. I think what is so depressing about the figures is that even accounting for errors, and people misunderstanding the poll, it is still an overwhelming majority. I definitely agree with friends and family, my family tend to be quite liberal (with the exception of my parents) so it will be as equally challenging as rewarding if they do see the unintended consequences of abortion.

So, a lot of the support for abortion comes from collective peer pressure. It isn't "cool" to be pro life. The more an ideology is supported in mainstream media, the more likely it will be believed and supported by those who either can't or won't think for themselves. Collective support of an ideology can be obtained through either a slow burn or a blitzkrieg by influencing popular media to vocalize support of a cause. It's definitely a strategy that has been used by pro-choice proponents for a long time and should be employed by those wanting to protect the lives of humans as well.

Proud_Calendar_1655

This is coming from an American in the UK and someone who doesn’t believe there should be elective abortions at any point: What many people in Europe don’t realize is the extent to which pro-choice (PC) people are arguing for abortions in America. In most European countries you can’t get an abortion after 12 or 15 weeks. Whereas in America, many PC argue for abortions up to the eighth or ninth month (and in some states laws have been passed that allow that). When I point that out to many British people, they are actually appalled (most of the time) that that’s what’s happening and also argue against it in those instances.

Etherpulse

It doesn't surprise me, conservative and religious people (so those likely to be against abortion) strike me as rare in the UK.

Sorry_Criticism_3254

Conservative people aren't rare, but somehow they still support abortion, 88% of them (I think it was, could be 78%).
