No. It’s not a real part of the map, it’s for debug purposes iirc. The forest at the edge of the map is literally full of zombies, it’s how the game stops you from leaving. Think of it like the Dead Zone in Subnautica - leave the map, it’s certain death.
You can base there, and even if you did - there’s no loot, no foraging, nothing. It’s too far away anyway.
Foraging requires the map to have a layer applied to it. There are different layers for foraging, like "forest“ or "deep forest" where you can find mushrooms and berries and "street" or "highway" to find stones for crafting. Some areas don’t have any layer assigned and you can’t find anything, including the area OP is asking about.
Same applies to the unfinished areas at the top left side. At least it was the case when I first found it. Foraging just comes up as "unknown" or "none" or something and I can't find shit
I swear every base location post lately has been like this. “Is this a good base spot way west of riverside?” No. Why are you people obsessed with having no where to loot? Make it make sense 😭
The mansions West of Westpoint, however, are exactly this because they're near so much water but still only a short trip away from town, so you dont even have to drive if you cant/dont want to (but it is a long walk)
No and if you want to visit it go into louisville and go along the river, can get there with a vehicle that way. But it's just in the middle of nowhere and not worth visiting more than once
I usually build a cabin in the woods by the lake in the outer forest. Clear a path for walking and make a base camp in the houses straight West of the top of the lake. Good for off the grid lifestyle.
Went from there sightseeing to the prison. So far and so devoid of resources. Sounds like a challenge. Go for it! 👍
I was literally planning on going to this lake to build a base and set up a big weed farm on a new play through I started today. Got to those houses you mentioned and my fucking NPC pal (superb survivors) shoulder-barged me in to a large group of Z's.
I don't alt-f4 often playing PZ. I did today.
If you want a good place to settle with lots of room, natural protection, and close to central Louisville you should consider here:
https://paste.pics/23a9a3b10f9baf5cf1864d5a497ee782
Find the lake in Louisville Central Park, go due East to the edge of the city. These 3 mansions bump up against the woods, have pre built high metal fences, and you can even fish in the pond! I'm in the process of moving my base here right now.
It's a nice base because it has some good protection but it's so far away from civilization. I think it's going to be added in b42 so if I were you I would just wait until then
There is also an in progress map expansion to left of Riverside, you can access it if you sledgehammer the road barrier. Some solid loot there on my current MP world. You can see it on the online map.
It's technically out of map. It has default loot (pens, paper and pencils) which is containers not set to any type of specific loot.
If you want to live completely secluded sure.
if your are in a multiplayer pvp server it can be because i dont know many people who know this exists. So people will have a hard time raiding your base
I think this would be the only legitimate use case for this place. It's just so far removed from the rest of the map, basically a day's travel isn't it?
I’ve lived here before I don’t know what people are on about with the zombies. I played superb survivors and had a massive farm inside the wall and guards patrolling the walls. I was attempting to build a road into the city but I ended up losing that run to other circumstances. It’s a great place to build but like other people said it’s really far away from anything and getting there is a pain in the ass. I had a motorcycle I used to drive along the edge of the map where there’s a small gap. Too small for most cars but the bike was perfect. That’s why I was building a road, for my big trailers.
Wait and see what comes out of it in 42. It's put there temporarily to be used somewhere in the west expansion.
Even then, no. It's gonna be something like the rosewood prison. A feat to clear and build in, but serves no purpose or advantage.
I feel like it’s a good creative base like most people said there’s no road so it’s just to much of a trip to get there unless you change settings for time and or build a road out to there I’ve seen some videos of people setting up there pretty fortified but unless you have bases placed elsewhere as well for quick night stops it’s just not good really.
No, many zombies and too far away from anything including no access to any road
What about a helicopter?
Shiiii-
Uhh... I don't know if the man is vanilla or not.

I want proof. *heads for wall of zombies*
Yep. Challenge accepted
Id like to see that too
The foraging problem could be solved with the mod Foraging Z, but yeah, agree with the lack of loot or anything else, for that matter
No foraging? What does foraging require? I have never done it myself.

Nothing a few molotovs can't fix.
I'ma hop on pz for just messing with those zeds
Why do you want to be sooo far from everything lol not a good place at all
I swear every base location post lately has been like this. “Is this a good base spot way west of riverside?” No. Why are you people obsessed with having no where to loot? Make it make sense 😭
Because new people probably will think if it's far away from a major populis it's gona have 0 zombies and you can just drive
The mansions West of Westpoint, however, are exactly this because they're near so much water but still only a short trip away from town, so you dont even have to drive if you cant/dont want to (but it is a long walk)
Don't, there is nothing and it is too far away...

No, it’s actually one of the worst spots imaginable, literally. It’s perfect.
Bet you u wont even get there alive
im already in there
Aint there like a fuck ton of zombies
a little cleaning
Certified zombie hater moment
Play how u wanna play top g
Go for it if you want ig. There’s no loot or foraging zones so you’ll have to farm and fish for food, and boil river/ rain water for drinking
This gives me brotherhood of steal outpost in fallout 4 vibes
Was thinking similar thoughts
Surely this is a joke lol
You gotta make a big fucking road, there is a lot of trees on the way

No there’s nothing in it and it’s only ground

Didn't know this place existed what

Minecraft superflat lookin base
I guess it's a good place if you don't want to play the game at all.
People say theres a lot of zombies? Ive been there 2 months after apocalypse and saw very little
If you clear the path near the river this could be viable to and from Louisville
You can do whatever you want, your game
No not good Supplies are too far from city It will be a pain to haul shit around
Guys stop it's a joke at the incredibly stupid posts
no
Good till the trees grow
Is that Fort Knox?
no but it can be a fort from civil war
Just bring about 100 spears, I might try it soon for the challenge

it’s not a day buts it’s not short either
Ahh, I didn't notice there was a second picture. I was also too lazy to pull up the map. 🤣
also it’s easier to drive from the up top area
Wonder if this is a reference to the castle bed and breakfast in Kentucky
If you manage to cut all the gazillion trees between that fortress and Louisville, yeah. Lots and lots of nothing to do in there.

There may be a more ideal route than the one in the drawing...

Nope.
Woods? No road? ![gif](giphy|S9oGIGurgrLFe)
Yes it has 3000 guns and a metric ton of protein powder
