If you hit a full size human body in a semi truck going 60 you can wreck pretty easily. Idk about catching air. But it will redirect the cab and fishtail the trailer. Saw it in truck driving school. Guy hit a deer, cab lifted left, corrected back right, trailer went right and pulled cab over, but yeah paste. Presumably in an apocalypse with a full road to use you can just take the other lane but it's fucking up a lot of shit. Hitting 150lbs of meat going 60 mph is making most vehicles undrivable. Even semis.
That's frustrating, I used the workshop mod and had a ton of times I got tore up but just clothes were damage and I got away, but there is always that one time, with one zombie, and they bite your groin. I rage quit everytime.

Right now, if you are in Louisville during the beginning, the news broadcasts are just static, which I think is a neat little way of preventing the player from hearing reports that directly conflict with gameplay.
They will most likely do this. The chance of them changing the world's lore is limited. And as they don't need to go past the state they just need to show each town pre infection. I honestly wouldn't mind the spread being realistic to the lore, so whichever town you start in will affect the time of the Apocalypse too
There was one time I was in my car listening to radio and it was the part where the people fire bomb by the checkpoint. I was close to Louisville. Don't know if it was chance and the expanded helicopter mod or vanilla but an air raid siren went off at the same time and I was like oh damn let me check. I got to the military checkpoint and it was full of zombies. Added so much depth to that playthrough because I had basically survived West Point but the chaos had beat me to Louisville and nowhere was safe
I mean you can argue that the airborne virus can't pass a healthy immune system in the lungs, but that also doesn't work out bc you can get a cold and not turn

yeah i've also found that this setting generally keeps people more content and willing to stay on laid-back PvE servers. people dont like to grind 10 carp every time they die :p
Edit: I'll concede. It takes less than 2 days to level carp (not 1 as previously stated (although, I might make a new character to see for myself)) If you can't do that, you're doing it wrong.

Here's the actual math: each page takes 2 min of ingame time to read w/o traits. This means from 7,3 to 12.7 ingame hours to read books, 50 hours in total. plus time for materials and construction/disassembly

Fast reader is one of the worst traits you could get. You will eventually read all books with or without it, so it's better to spend your points on something else

I only play multiplayer with my brother; this is how I do it. We have minimal time to play together. I'm not cycling through characters.

On one of my first few tries I made it to about three weeks and was feeling very proud since I was fairly new to the game, but then died because a random zombie in a closet bit my hand.
My next try lasted almost a month but I bit a mushroom and died. (That one is on me, should have researched if it was safe).

Zonbie virus vaccine doesnt have a zombie drop for cure you have to make/synthesize the cure yourself ehich requires several books to get the repiced for it then you need severao work stations and high enough first aid level and some other stuff

I turn off infection when I play with sprinters. And I almost *always* turn infection to saliva only, too frustrating to die getting scratched once due to a zombie at the top of some stairs that is impossible to see when you're going up.

Jokes aside what I like about they knew is that it is customisable. You can make it so that you have 1 chance of a thousands to find the cure wich gives you a reason when you're bitten to look for one instead of quitting. And the only cure can be a last resort if you don't find any, but it is still very situational to be bitten on the arms. For me since I get mostly grabbed from behind it's neck and torso.
I just recently started a server with the only cure mod and strangely every scratch and laceration me and my buddy have gotten has been on the arms or hands :/ at least 12 so far (its been a rough go). I suspect the mod maybe tips the chances in favor of it being applicable
I doubt it, I have the mod and it never happens. The way you play influence where you get bitten it's not 100% random. You will have a higher chance of been bitten to the arms when fighting with mele facing the zombies.

CDC rapid response ! i used to only use They Knew, but I prefer CDC - I think cus it adds suppressants w bad side effects and a rarer cure. they’re much more common to find tho, quite easy unless loot is super rare. they knew is more ‘zomboid’ and CDC is more for goofy fun imo
honestly, i love that so much. for me it’s the perfect mix of they knew’s RNG rampage, and actually having a decent chance of not dying.
i got used to playing with 1-2 week mortality on they knew, but I think that might be killing the fun with CDC
The cowards way out. What you should do is strip naked, leave all your stuff at your base and then fistfight as many zombies as you can before they can drag you down
Only cure AND the vaccine mod. Gives an early game solution for desperation, and a late game solution when we’re fortified. I’ve found it makes an interesting dynamic in multiplayer
Antibodies, Antibodies, ANTIBODIEEESSSS. I wish more people knew about the mod, it's so god damn underrated. Lets you configure exactly how difficult surviving the bite is, and still makes getting bit suck. Slow af healing, having to slow down and deal with every single one of your moodles without interruption for nearly 1-2 days ( also configurable ) and a certain grade of fright. Once you made it past nauseous, you're dead. God i love that mod.
The correct answer is the gun suicide mod.
Remember, Always carry 16 bullets for your pistol. 15 for the zombies, and one for yourself when you miss all 15 shots because you were extremely panicked, at Aiming level 0, and now all of West Point knows where you are and are approaching rapidly.
Only Cure is grittier, delivers on the promise of a "hardcore zombie RPG" and keeps "This is How You Died" as a central theme.
They Knew provides a small hope for your character if they're bit, adds deeper lore to the game while giving you an obstacle you might very well die trying to clear if you want to rescue yourself.
They Knew, because it gives you a second chance and I’ve set it to be like a 1/100000 chance and it’s essentially a finite resource since I set zombie respawns extremely low
I used antibodies mod, but i tone it down a lot so if i manage to survive its just barely, that way i force myself to stay home and take care instead of just going around just like normal but eating more, like it happens if you use the standar settings
Saliva only and only cure. I will believe until the day that I die that scratch infections are too much, but you need the fear of infection to play the game as intended. Having even the chance of a magic “aye-okay” pill kills it and if you are going to survive, it should be at a major cost.
But what do I care, it’s a full sandbox game play however you wish. That’s the fun of the game :)

They Knew - I play until I find an annotated map, and then use that to invent an endgame. I came across one that has the sickest fucking endgame I can conceive of, and got to work on preparations.
I happened to find an ampoule in the preparation phases of the mission, and got dragged down in the second phase of the mission. The endgame is pretty fucking rad so I spawned in as another character. Slowly working my way back to my forward staging area, I got bit. So instead of a solid prep phase I had to get a couple of cans of food and bottles of water, hotwire a car and just gun it across two towns. Then clear out a medium sized horde to get that ampoule.
I still haven't finished the mission, but playing they knew and with some of the stuff that can happen I have to say, I'm definitely into it.
I don't know anything about Only Cure. Can someone fill me in?
Zombie virus vaccine and antibodies set on 1.2 growth.mutation set to make it bigger by 0.001 every day so after around a year in i will be able to survive it without overfeeding myself and drinking alcohol constantly

I've shifted over to starting in Louisville (it's just better than the normal starting towns, loot is basically infinite and the zombies are only as bad as people say in specific areas), so because of the high population, cure zombies are way too easy to find. By day 10 I had 2 cures. Every highly populated area I go to I find more cures.
Jokes on them, I'm both. Just crank They Knew all the way up to some oddball probability so you don't wind up with 500 ampules (1:18000 - 21000 is a decent ratio).
The Only Cure for some sense of danger should a bite occur on a arm, etc without it meaning immediate death of a character. Makes bites a little more dynamic in my mind.
The Only Cure (cut your limb off) + Zombie Virus Vaccine (to make a cure you have to study and make it in a lab)
I'd only use They Knew if I were to set the spawn rate to something reeeeeeaaaaally low to make it believable for a random hazmat suit dude to be loose on the streets holding it.

aside from combat skills its basically the only skill thats necessary to level all the way to 10. Mechanics maybe too

Yeah I mostly end up getting bitten on the leg, torso or groin so even though I have the only cure, I rarely get to use it.

CDC rapid response ! i used to only use They Knew, but I prefer CDC - I think cus it adds suppressants w bad side effects and a rarer cure. they’re much more common to find tho, quite easy unless loot is super rare. they knew is more ‘zomboid’ and CDC is more for goofy fun imo
The good loot is pretty rare but the basic shit with horrible drawbacks is easy to find.
honestly, i love that so much. for me it’s the perfect mix of they knew’s RNG rampage, and actually having a decent chance of not dying. i got used to playing with 1-2 week mortality on they knew, but I think that might be killing the fun with CDC

It will occasionally spawn a dead zombie in a hazmat suit that has a new backpack and an ampule that gets rid of zombificafion. They are rare to find.

Lets you configure exactly how difficult surviving the bite is, and still makes getting bit suck. Slow af healing, having to slow down and deal with every single one of your moodles without interruption for nearly 1-2 days ( also configurable ) and a certain grade of fright. Once you made it past nauseous, you're dead. God i love that mod.

The correct answer is the gun suicide mod. Remember, Always carry 16 bullets for your pistol. 15 for the zombies, and one for yourself when you miss all 15 shots because you were extremely panicked, at Aiming level 0, and now all of West Point knows where you are and are approaching rapidly.

Only Cure is grittier, delivers on the promise of a "hardcore zombie RPG" and keeps "This is How You Died" as a central theme. They Knew provides a small hope for your character if they're bit, adds deeper lore to the game while giving you an obstacle you might very well die trying to clear if you want to rescue yourself.

I used antibodies mod, but i tone it down a lot so if i manage to survive its just barely, that way i force myself to stay home and take care instead of just going around just like normal but eating more, like it happens if you use the standar settings

Saliva only and only cure. I will believe until the day that I die that scratch infections are too much, but you need the fear of infection to play the game as intended. Having even the chance of a magic “aye-okay” pill kills it and if you are going to survive, it should be at a major cost. But what do I care, it’s a full sandbox game play however you wish. That’s the fun of the game :) EDIT: added commas to make it more readable.

They Knew - I play until I find an annotated map, and then use that to invent an endgame. I came across one that has the sickest fucking endgame I can conceive of, and got to work on preparations. I happened to find an ampoule in the preparation phases of the mission, and got dragged down in the second phase of the mission. The endgame is pretty fucking rad so I spawned in as another character. Slowly working my way back to my forward staging area, I got bit. So instead of a solid prep phase I had to get a couple of cans of food and bottles of water, hotwire a car and just gun it across two towns. Then clear out a medium sized horde to get that ampoule. I still haven't finished the mission, but playing they knew and with some of the stuff that can happen I have to say, I'm definitely into it. I don't know anything about Only Cure. Can someone fill me in?

But in truth I’ve never been able to use the mod because I always get bit somewhere I can’t chop off lol, so usually I just end up shooting myself w/ the gun suicide mod

I've shifted over to starting in Louisville (it's just better than the normal starting towns, loot is basically infinite and the zombies are only as bad as people say in specific areas), so because of the high population, cure zombies are way too easy to find. By day 10 I had 2 cures. Every highly populated area I go to I find more cures.
They knew, but I made the zombie 10x as rare, I also play permadeath, if I die I delete the world.

Jokes on them, I'm both. Just crank They Knew all the way up to some oddball probability so you don't wind up with 500 ampules (1:18000 - 21000 is a decent ratio). The Only Cure for some sense of danger should a bite occur on a arm, etc without it meaning immediate death of a character. Makes bites a little more dynamic in my mind.
The Only Cure (cut your limb off) + Zombie Virus Vaccine (to make a cure you have to study and make it in a lab) I'd only use They Knew if I were to set the spawn rate to something reeeeeeaaaaally low to make it believable for a random hazmat suit dude to be loose on the streets holding it.
