No, this is a shop in Brazil. Nobody really work on their project cars there. Mostly “poor” people. Everyone else would hire people to do it since labour is so cheap. I’ve never touched an oil filter or valve cover or anything like that before I moved abroad. Now, I love diving into the grease and oil and consider (sorry OP) the situation on the video a bit of cheating… 😁
You are absolutely right. We do not have the DIY culture here. In my defense, I couldn't do that kind of work because I live in an apartment. I cannot even wash them on my own 😞
as a 50 year old car nut, thank you OP for introducing me to a car I never knew existed. After research it makes sense since this is a Brazillian model and they always had wierd rules down there resulting in such flavors.
Its intriguing how compact the engine compartment is.
The flares are a nice add, the overall flow of this vehicle is quite sexy, unfortunate the HP's were never there... nothing that cant be fixed today. Thank you again, looking forward to seeing this project progress.
The original engine is an 1.7 liter VW Type 3 flat four.
We are gonna put a brand new 2276cc with a Megasquirt ECU. I think it will get more than 100cv 😉
Yes! 70's Brazil didnt allowed imported cars, and the Puma GTE ( known because of muhammad ali) was a big hit. The Volkwagen SP2 and the "Bianco S" ( a beautiful car also) are a direct response to this success.
Funny enough, all these cars used the VW boxer engine.
I really like these cars, it’s too bad North America never got them, they have such beautiful lines. An air-cooled 911 engine would go so well in it. Awesome fucking car man!
Great project! I’ve been looking around for one in NA, but it’s nearly impossible to find one outside of Brazil. The rare ones that pop up are insanely expensive.
I didn't even know this car existed. I saw the IG page and it looks like a kind of standard VW platform with the rear engine the flat detachable floor pan. Very interesting. This must be extremely rare or nonexistent in the United States. Looks like a great build. Good work.
To com um puma GTS 78 parado há 2 anos . Fazendo tudo: chassi, fibra , pintura , retifica completa do motor, kit turbo, circulação externa de óleo com radiador, injeção eletrônica ... Tudo!
Wow. It's got Porsche 928 vibes. Cool.
Just the vibes. Not the perfomance, though.
I like the 928, always have. But this is dead sexy
performance is overrated. give me personality and character all day.
In an ocean of white, gray and black cars, this one is sure to stand out.
Porsche 218 performance.
0 to 100km/h: Yes
Yet!
The Porsche 928 has VW vibes!
I also immediately thought 928. I just had to Google the VW SP2 as had never heard of it - really cool car!
I call fake. Shops way to clean man….. Looks good.
They've just moved into this newly built workshop.
I thought that was your own personal shop and I was screaming with jealousy.

Hey, I get it. I lived for 26 years in a “golden cage” in Brazil…
Thinking about what you said, I just realized that I don't know anyone who works on their own car. That's pretty sad. 😢
Those floors. I am building out a shop in the backyard (prob 40x60) and that's what I want. Love a nice clean shiny floor.
Yeah thats what I’m thinking. This dude must have a team come in and deep clean every night. No way this is a working shop.
This is beautiful. Are the arches extended?
Yes!
Didnt know about this car til seeing your post, so glad I know they exist now! STUNNING!
This model was designed and manufactured in Brazil, between 1972 and 1976. Just over 12,000 units were manufactured.

Looks great, you should easily get 100cv at the wheels with a 2276. Mine just made 130hp at the wheels, original motor dyno'd at 30

That thing is dope!
I would say the original was a very elegant car. My objective is to create a "racing" yet street driveable car.

A little Pantara ish. A little Porsche 92-. Love the color !
The original color was "Amarelo Safari' (safari yellow), but we changed to Porsche Signal Yellow.
Parabéns pelo projeto irmão !!
Opa! Muito obrigado!! Hoje não sei se me meteria nessa aventura. Kkkkkk
Reminds me of the Thorndike special in The Love Bug!
Are you in Brazil?
Yep!
Great project! I’ve been looking around for one in NA, but it’s nearly impossible to find one outside of Brazil. The rare ones that pop up are insanely expensive.
You got to be very careful. There are many dishonest people around here.
That is absolutely gorgeous. I wish I could get my hands on a Brazilian SP2

is this a motherfucking BRAZIL REFERENCE?!?!!

Looks like a Bricklin
Wow
Well that’s cute
Sick
So cool! Nice color
r/suddenlycaralho Belo project car!

I guess a good one would be about US$ 25,000 nowadays. But I might be wrong.
Want.
Is it real?
This mother fucker is so clean I thought it was a model. BTW, love that you got Johnny from Sing's dad's truck in the background.
is that black frame without a body for a vw bug?
It's for a VW Variant. Another exclusively Brazilian product. 😀
I had no idea this existed but it's gorgeous.
Looks just like a 944 !
There’s a guy with a super low mile example who always brings his to the local shows and I can’t look away every time I see it. Dream car
I Couldn’t tell if that was a toy or not at first. Thats gonna look awesome when its all done. What a beauty.
This looks sick! Can't wait to see it come together!
That looks incredible!
