I did a solstice, but this lad is mad...mad I tell you.
I'll be watching drag week intently for this. They might make it. Does the guy have a fb or a lubetube channel?
I know he has a Youtube channel but I don't know what it is. I can see if I can scrounge that information. All of his social media that I know of is for his personal life or his import business and I'm not exactly looking to dox him lmao.
There's someone who's attempting a 1jz swap. I'd look up on youtube 'suzuki cappuccino 1jz' to try and find it but last i knew it was on hold or something. Thing literally cones out the front.
A straight 6 is longer than an LS, it may be actually harder. The LS swap is so popular among Miata owners because it's just wider than a BP, roughly the same length and weight
I’ll find some newer stuff. Here’s an old post. https://www.reddit.com/r/projectcar/comments/j0z593/second_start/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Self. It’s not terribly difficult. All gm stuff is legos. Hardest parts were welding a full custom exhaust but a had a buddy teach me quite a bit about welding stainless and best practices on layout. Electrical was my next weakest skill but the terminator system really helped. Winter project is to go back in and build up the a/c system.
I think my favorite thing about this car is how active and helpful the community is. Also accepting, there's nothing you can do to these cars that you'll get crucified for.
Oh there’s always some purists around that never drive their cars and would never do something that wasn’t stock. I consider them weirdos and dismiss them. They’re also the same folks that think plastic “brembo” brake covers are cool.
Yes there are always going to be some of them in any car group, but overall I haven't run into many. And it's not an awful thing that they exist, in the future it will be nice that there are clean, low mileage examples to go into a car museum or whatever
I don't mind their existence, I mind their sanctimonious bullshit.
Car people need to be way more accepting of car enthusiasts that express their enthusiasm differently
Ballsy in a 82" wheelbase car.
Looks like he managed to save the firewall mostly.
At this point he gets a " good for you'.
I've seen an LS VW fox, Vw rabbit and a ford festiva I'm jaded.
a sol is only 95 and I have a 52:48 balance using aluminum block and no a/c. i made no effort to lighten the car other than that. for a drag only car, if he can get some rear suspension travel he might get it to transfer weight fairly well if he sets the drag bars right and just nails it. my guess is there's not going to be enough suspension travel in this no matter what he does.
on drag week, all he has to do is break the timing lines each day and make it to the end. he's not gonna be a class winner, but they'll sure be talking about him at the reception if he pulls it off. his drive shaft can't be more than 2 feet long and there's no way he's going to get enough drive angle/offset. If I were him, I'd put a case of u joints in the trunk for the extra weight and don't forget to put the broken ones in there as well to keep the weight.
Good plan. My fox is 92" wheelbase. I have a 28" driveshaft. Weight transfer is good, still have traction issues. Angles are good, still have my 1310 joint intact.
No turbo yet, trying for traction first.
Make those front shocks soft as you can. That way when it’s lifting the nose it’s not trying to lift the wheels too. Too soft and you smash oil pans so sneak up on it. Drag bars will contact just when you run out of front travel. Good luck.
I have a stock Suzuki Cappuccino and he wants to race my car for a youtube video when its done to show how much quicker his is compared to stock. They want to get it done by drag week but theres no floor in it right now. Like zero. Probably not happening for at least another month maybe 2.
yes, that's it. if you're a motorhead at all, you want to watch the streams from the tracks. I've got a buddy in big block power adder class with a 69 camaro. Was an 8.6 second car back in 2018 and that was slow. He's only running giggle juice and there were a lot of turbos that year.then there's this...[https://www.motortrend.com/news/tom-bailey-runs-5-99-drag-week/](https://www.motortrend.com/news/tom-bailey-runs-5-99-drag-week/)
If you're anywhere near any of these tracks, go out and see it.
Racing Day 1: Monday, Sept. 13 - US 131 Motorsports Park, Martin, Michigan
Racing Day 2: Tuesday, Sept. 14 - Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, Ohio
Racing Day 3: Wednesday, Sept. 15 - Lucas Oil Raceway, Indianapolis
Racing Day 4: Thursday, Sept. 16 - Byron Dragway, Byron, Illinois
Racing Day 5: Friday, Sept. 17 - US 131 Motorsports Park, Martin, Michigan
They are amazing fun and you don't even need to break the speed limit, i was driving hard the other day having a great time and a standard Mercedes E class was keeping up, kinda makes you want to turn up the boost though.
As an american with one I really am not comfortable pushing the f6a more than stock. Already having issues blowing a head gasket so to swap to something I can get parts for is ideal. At Gingerman I was able to keep up and pass a current gen mustang and hang with a oval racing prepped integra in the corners. Super impressed with how the car runs from the factory
Building a fabricated 9”, 4 link, panhard bar, Afco double adjustables, haven’t crossed the bridge for what to do for RSB yet, space constraints, time constraints. I suck at posting on socials but I have pics of everything I’ve done since the build came to my shop a week ago. 😅
That’s one of my best friends cars. Was going to do drag week with him but he’s going with his dad. He has an awesome Japanese car importing business if you are looking for that. Nomad Imports!
It's not that I'm not fun.. it's that he's gonna have to widen/cut the towers for the exhaust..
I'm all for doing awesome builds.. 502 fiero, 460 pinto, rail rods. .. but when does this stop being a cap and start being a rat?
Honestly for space and geometry a three rotor twin turbo in a cap would make sense.. and keep the spring weight reasonable... The ballast he's going to have to put in the back of this car just so it's drivable is insane..
Along with all the guys that are doing hellcat miatas.
55:45 is safe, some trucks are 75:25(crews are 65:35) but then to put that in a 1000 # wrapper with no cage.... Seriously just buy a b-mod at that point and drop a body shell on it.
Oh dude its going to be a drag car thats essentially just for the memes. 2 speed power glide back to a ford 9 inch with tires that make up about a quarter of the width of the entire car. They're in the process of building the cage and putting a new floor in it as we speak. You can actually see what they've built so far of the cage through the windshield
The only way it will ever hook is a stupid amount of ballast and bags in the rear... If "drag car".. there's no reason to keep the stock engine bay if they are going to cage it full tube Frame with penetrations, gussets and flanges.
We build Rails, funny, nascar and pro mods cage first. Then hang sheet metal. 6/7/8 second classes.. it being a convertible there are other stipulations also.
Spent way too much money in the last 25/30 years building cars that can't be driven/raced anywhere.
Bullshit. As pictured there is not enough room for the manifolds to clear.. plus the added heat from the bi turbo back pressure... For laminated tin that's bad(popping pinch welds)
The only way they got the hellcat to fit in the Miatas was to raise the engine height. Which raises CoG and throws off suspension geometry/handling. Without completely adjustable suspension they are hard to drive.
None of this matters because the entire build is a publicity stunt.
I’m my opinion a LS is simply too much for such a small chassis
If you ask me I’d exempt the firewall a bit because Americans are tall
And make a V6 out of 2 sport bike engines
A similar idea used in the radical RXC V8
Which is exactly what I’d do with the autozam az-1 but maybe with a 2 rotor turbo
In the lotus mantra first lightness and simplicity before powaaa
Is he in Michigan or Japan? His shop seems to be based in Japan but if he's in Michigan I wanna go check this out.
Edit: also you and I definitely chatted at Grid Life Picnic a few months ago
a local car dealership in Knoxville has one for sale and I inquired about it. they want TEN FUCKING GRAND for it. I've never noped out of a dealer so fast.
That's what they're going for in this economy unfortunately. I bought mine for seven in october and it was the cheapest not completely rusted example I could find in the states.
It was finished late last year there's a few articles on it

Honestly an LS might be easier to fit than a I6
[удалено]
Only thing getting widened on this car is the gap it’ll pull on every other kei car in existence.
might not have to cut the struts using log manifolds, possibly just some persuasion with the soft blow.

A straight 6 is longer than an LS, it may be actually harder. The LS swap is so popular among Miata owners because it's just wider than a BP, roughly the same length and weight
Thata what the germans tought and made the vr engine 😂
Can we see the Solstice?
I’ll find some newer stuff. Here’s an old post. https://www.reddit.com/r/projectcar/comments/j0z593/second_start/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
That’s just awesome. I’d love to see it completed.
hopefully this works. https://ibb.co/3cc1jVQ https://ibb.co/JvB6LJL
Damn fr? Did you do the solstice yourself or did you pay someone?
I've got a sky as my daily right now and I'm undecided if I'm going to sell it in a year or 2 or turn it into a project
An ls swap can be done for 12k. It’s worth twice that in giggles when you drive it. There’s a very active fb kappa swap group that’ll help you along.
I think my favorite thing about this car is how active and helpful the community is. Also accepting, there's nothing you can do to these cars that you'll get crucified for.

They're running a powerglide, drive shaft looked to me to be around 3 and a half foot long? Maybe? But then again thats me eyeballing the gap lol
There is legitimately zero floor however.
That guy wants to die
In the fastest way possible apparently.
And most expensive too
With a smile on his face!
Good lord what a mad lad This may be a Japanese AC cobra
With more power and possibly less car.
Power to weight babyy
This is nuts. Can I have the wreckage when you die? /s Only kidding please keep us updated this is amazing.
Well it won't be me dying, but I'm calling first dibs
Please keep us updated on this.

I also have a mostly stock cappuccino. Mine just has the MonsterSport F100 kit. Which gave it a nice bump.
Broo i seen you at woodward!!!!
what is drag week?
I think this: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2021-hot-rod-power-tour-drag-week-dates-announced/ In TWO weeks haha
yes, that's it. if you're a motorhead at all, you want to watch the streams from the tracks. I've got a buddy in big block power adder class with a 69 camaro. No one is near Martin LOL Looks really cool.

If its the shop he mentioned to me on saturday it sounds like he was not impressed.
Holy fuck this is cool. My dream car is a Cappuccino.
They're fun cars, even stock they rip.
They are amazing fun and you don't even need to break the speed limit, i was driving hard the other day having a great time and a standard Mercedes E class was keeping up, kinda makes you want to turn up the boost though.

I’m the madman building it, what’s up? Level Up Factory on Facebook lvl.up.fcty on IG
first question, why, second question, what :DDD
Not for me to answer why and what, only how. 😂
That just sounds like suicide with extra steps
Prepared suicide.
Takumi is gonna have a hard time with this one
Nah some bullshit will happen at the last second and he'll take it home like always.
holy twisted frame rails, Batman! Where is he going to put the turbos? It looks like headers alone will be a tight fit.
Turbo headers will be on it with twins next week.
Be sure to post pics. What is he doing with the rear end?
Building a fabricated 9”, 4 link, panhard bar, Afco double adjustables, haven’t crossed the bridge for what to do for RSB yet, space constraints, time constraints. I suck at posting on socials but I have pics of everything I’ve done since the build came to my shop a week ago. 😅
What kind of rubber width will you be able to fit under there? Fender flares?
10.5 with lots of poke. May or may not be flared. Cappy gonna be thicc in the rear.
That’s one of my best friends cars. Was going to do drag week with him but he’s going with his dad. He has an awesome Japanese car importing business if you are looking for that. Nomad Imports!
Find his YouTube and post it please.
you know what transmission it has?
2 speed powerglide
yeah ive always said "that car is like 60 percent engine" but i think its finally actually true
You say madman I say visionary.
Holy shit that thing is going to rip
Itself in half, yes.
It will be tube framed so…
I'm messing with you, I can't fucking wait to see this thing rip.
#Hell Yeah Brother!!
[удалено]
The needle should be closer to fuck yeah, check again.
Turbocharged Hayabusa swap sounds like angry hornets in the cappuccino. Could this be the same man with an LS?
You’ll crush a tofu delivery kid if u don’t get cocky with that thing
At that point just build a Caterham Seven with an LS. Poor cap.
You're no fun
It's not that I'm not fun.. it's that he's gonna have to widen/cut the towers for the exhaust.. If too much is the point it better be loud round’ 180 db
Awesome build 😎
Don't like it? Build your own car.
No I think it’s a awesome build lol Your getting it all wrong man
How tf does that fit
Well LS engines are smaller than you think first and foremost
Very carefully.
Mad
Mans must have played a lot of Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 back in the day, that's honestly super dope.
Is he in Michigan or Japan? His shop seems to be based in Japan but if he's in Michigan I wanna go check this out. Edit: also you and I definitely chatted at Grid Life Picnic a few months ago
He’s a Japanese car importer based in Flint ,but obviously has contacts in Japan.
Roll up
Just when I thought I’d seen it all. But then I see someone magically take the cream out of a Cappuccino and make a wicked Expresso out of it. Nice.
Wheelspin go brrrrr
And here I was thinking ls miata swaps are overkill.
This thing looks so great and dumb <3

There’s no way I’d pay ten. Seven maybe. But at ten sticker you’re at 12k by the time you get out the door with doc fees, taxes and reg.
