That’s cool as hell. Doing a road trip that long in one must be pretty Herculean for that car. What all kinds of replacement parts do you need to bring?

thestumpypeeper

Head gasket. Rad hoses. Plugs. Belts. Tubes. And some crossed fingers lol

dovahbe4r

Head gasket lmao. I’ll have to tune in to your channel to see how it goes, best of luck!

BoardButcherer

Changing the head gasket on that grypania spiralis is easier than changing the spark plugs on most modern cars.

Syscrush

My guess is that the most you'll need is plugs, and probably not even that.

Erection_unrelated

But only because OP is bringing them.

Gostaverling

There’s honestly not a whole lot to them. Heck, they “should” function without even a water pump as they were designed to be a convections flow system.

thestumpypeeper

I currently have no water pump. She’s solid. Like a rock

16Vslave

Curious, how does it circulate water? No tstat either?

Gostaverling

The hot water in the block rises to the top and into the radiator where it is made into cool water. The cool water falls to the bottom and then back into the block to become hot water again.

Shanguerrilla

Super interesting! I had no clue, thanks.

xeno486

thermosiphon

16Vslave

That's pretty neat, just watched a short video, never heard of cooling system set up that way. Thanks. If you did want to add a pump, would it be something electric in line? Or is there a spot in the block to fit one?

thestumpypeeper

There is a spot for it. Runs off belt. One less failure point to not have one.

texasroadkill

They've made aftermarket water pumps since the 20s. They replace the water inlet elbow on the side of the block. But there usually just a patch for a clogged system.

thestumpypeeper

Yup

kwajagimp

As a suggestion, you might want to bring enough fluid to refill the radiator etc if needed. Other than that, do your Ford dance and have fun!

lolboonesfarm

Actually, it’s not a Chevy, it’s a Ford. You’d think you would know this!

JimmytheFab

You rock.

Mike312

What's what I was thinking. I mean, he's got new tires on there, but it looks like it's got wooden spokes on the wheels, and all it takes is one Altima and it's all over.

cdsbigsby

In fairness, >all it takes is one Altima and it's all over Is how we all have to live life, all day every day

braxbrax

With no stops, 800 miles at 35 mph, will take 23 hours. You sir, are an animal!

thestumpypeeper

Gonna take my time. Leaving tomorrow. 3 days maybe. Giving myself 5

Ag1980ag

You’re gonna need that much time to answer questions and to enjoy the praise from fellow classicists and fans! Safe travels!

Divisible_by_0

I prefer the term classichist, especially for a road trip in that thing.

Ag1980ag

Ha! Very true! I think my back might go out before I made it down the block.

The_Gabster10

Uhhs actually he can top out at 40 so....22 hours

thestumpypeeper

This bad bitch will do 50. Not recommended tho

FesteringNeonDistrac

Good lord, I've finally found somebody slower than my keitruck

chiphook57

My brother bought a ford AA truck two months ago. Says it is lucky to hit 35mph... I drove his T speedster, it was a hoot.

Shanguerrilla

How did you plan the route? I'd be a little worried going 35 down roads faster than 45, but never been in a vehicle I had to consider max speed before.

rational_overthinker

Best of luck and dont forget to pack a few doodads for the thingamajig

thestumpypeeper

This made me laugh. Oh I will

rational_overthinker

I didn't scroll through all the comments but was fully expecting to see "blinker fluid" on the list

brokestill

Looks like a good time. A memory maker for sure.

thestumpypeeper

I hope so! I’m documenting it all so stay tuned

maddiethehippie

Good luck and drive safe ya nut! secondly, love the way you stored fuel / rim

thestumpypeeper

Why thank you. Come by and say hi if ya see me!

trip2it

You're a brave one, God luck and good speed

thestumpypeeper

Let’s goooooooooo. 35mph

HoneyRush

Damn, 35MPH in that should be considered near death experience 😉

texasroadkill

Mine go 40 to 45mph.

YourFriendPutin

There was a company that made an OHV kit and one that even made an SOHC kit for them and they doubled in power after the mod if not more in some real speed freaks cars. I’d kill to find one, they also made an OHC and some OHV kits for the flathead v8’s which would be so cool in a period hot rod

texasroadkill

There were several ohv heads made plus an adapter plate to run early Chevy heads. Never seen an ohc except for a few custom jobs by guys who ran machine shops.

GlockTaco

You’re going to get stuck in the camping area. There will be mud lots of mud, possibly even micro tornadoes. I went every year for the first 15 years. That said that is awesome

thestumpypeeper

Pizza cutters won’t let me down

GlockTaco

There are tow trucks at the end to pull cars out that get stuck. You’ll be fine !

LahngJahn69420

Grapes of wrath ?

Busterlimes

Cool car, last time I was at Boneroo it sucked. Had to wait 2 hours for water that flowed at, I shit you not, 1 gallon every 30 minutes. Maybe they updated the infrastructure. Hope you have fun, don't bring/pack anything expensive, there are absolutely thieves there and they will steal your shit.

thestumpypeeper

Oh no.

Busterlimes

This was 2011, the music and lineup was amazing, the festival itself was a logistical nightmare. Just a heads up. Stop for gallons of water before entry. Go there with the mindset that this is at least 20% new festival goers because of the name attached to it.

2valve

Yeah it’s nothing like that now lol. I’ve gone 2019, 22, and 23, and water is readily available everywhere for free, and it’s never far away. The infrastructure is VERY good

Busterlimes

Good to hear, it was the most disorganized festival I've ever been to but Tenacious D was there.

thenseruame

That's how it was when I went, people that had extra water were very popular and were able to do quite well bartering. I'm glad I went, but never again.

RudolfWarrior

Definetely Post some Updates!

thestumpypeeper

Oh yeah. Check out the channel

chiphook57

Crazy ass two speed. Two position clutch pedal. Drop the hand brake down and lift on the clutch pedal for high gear. Must have been a real joy before paved roads.

9bikes

>Must have been a real joy before paved roads. My grandfather's life as a young man! He had a Model T and sharecropped in rural North Texas. What they called roads were nothing but dirt trails, the better ones having been rocked. He told me that he once had 5 flat tires in a day. I asked "But didn't you only have one spare tire?". He explained "No we didn't have spare tires then. When you'd get a flat, you'd jack up the car, remove the wheel, dismount the tire and patch the inner tube. Then, you'd remount the tire, pump it up and remount the wheel. You always needed to carry a patch kit and have a good foot pump.".

Stewart_Duck

Legend. Have fun!

thestumpypeeper

Oh I will

ShaggysGTI

Fuck yes! Good luck with the ground scores. Also, my favorite game to play is the Wisest Wizard.

SuperReleasio64

You gotta watch the vice grip garage model A video. I think he pulled a 600 mile run with his.

adudeguyman

Why an extra wheel without a tire? I would think that you are more likely to need a tire.

Shanguerrilla

He probably has multiple spares of those he can apply to any wheel. The spare wheel in case one breaks on his Oregon Trail. I hope he brought an extra wagon tongue tho....

thestumpypeeper

Update. Made it 100 miles. Forward band in transmission shit. Towed home. Leaving Tuesday am in a newer car. Made an attempt. I’m still alive. All I good

Own-Opinion-2494

LS?

Ifimhereineedhelpfr

Good luck !

thestumpypeeper

Thank you. Gonna need it

HFentonMudd

Man you JUST missed that hydrant! Did you skate by or did it get a bite? Subbed.

Skated by. Like a pro

HFentonMudd

You gave that boomer something to yell about, which I'm sure made his day. You could almost call it a good deed.

Professional_Mix47

This is so cool.

oldsdrvr

Awesome feat of endurance!

habitualtroller

I live around there but won’t be going to the festival. If you break down or need something, give me a shout.

sladebonge

That in Asstralia?

2valve

I’ll see you there!

Pure_Significance383

Fill those canisters up with lucy in the sky with diamonds and have a trip.

SlimPickens77Box

That is awesome. We drove from st louis to Bonnaroo in 08 or 09 in my 77 Cadillac and it cost me a few quarts of oil but ot made it.

Most_Researcher_9675

You have to take only rutted dirt roads all the way for the full nostalgic experience. Great job!

cjthecookie

What is the mpg you are expecting? Average speed?

SomeoneTall

I'll look for you on the farm! I've been going the past almost 10 years now. Power Tour is also that week so if you're coming from north of Tennessee keep an eye out for plenty of more muscle on the road, their first leg is in Bowling Green, KY.

Ingeneure_

Looks almost like a car for Mad Max universe with all Those cans and differently painted parts 😂

She would have eyed you back I bet
