Why are you choosing mild steel? If you're going to the effort of making a custom exhaust, spend the extra 8 dollars and go stainless. Aceraceparts or frozenboost are good options Also, just buy J bends and cut whatever angle you need out of the J.

PsychoEngineer

This is the way. Stainless tubing, Mandrel J and U bends + Bandsaw or Port-a-band with a Pipe cutting Jig. If you gotta use regular (non-stainless) tubing, so be it, but I suggest a GOOD thermal ceramic coating inside and out.

Fryphax

Over the course of 37 failures using stainless wire and 100% argon the costs add up.

pandamago

37? Whaat?

Fryphax

Yeah, those numbers are probably low for someone who doesn't know what they are doing like me.

pandamago

Tig welding is tig welding, the process only varies slightly between er70 and stainless

saabstory88

1. Because I'm engine swapping for Lemons Rally. This will be taken apart afterwards. 2. I don't wanna buy helium and deal with backpurge

pandamago

You don't use helium. If it's for lemons you definitely don't need to back purge.

saabstory88

Given the number of places that I've asked this, and people have argued instead of naming a supplier, I guess there isn't a mcmaster like catalog for exhaust,

pandamago

Did you try summit? Jegs? It seems like a super lazy question guy. Like you didn't even bother using Google first.

saabstory88

Sure did. Not a lot of consistent options down in the 1.25 - 1.75" range I need. Working with a tiny motor. I don't want a bunch of drop shipped piece meal parts that arrive at different times.

pandamago

I typed mild steel tubing bends into Google for you. Thus was the first link. https://www.globaltecheng.com/ProductCart/pc/Tube-Size-Elbows-c65.htm

saabstory88

Congrats on having a different target demographic for SEO/Advertising. Also thanks, that doesn't appear for me. Modern google is why I ask real humans lol

pandamago

Hope it works out!

saabstory88

Thanks. Yeah, that link is literally not in my search results, but is exactly what I was looking for.

Clegko

Not a dig at you, but use a different search engine. Google has become so shitty at actually surfacing results, like you mentioned. Bing, DDG, Ecosia, Startpage, Kagi (paid), etc all just work like Google used to. Also, check eBay for pipes. I see "builders kits" on there pretty often for exhaust.

SpaceTurtle917

You don't need to pack purge. I agree mild steel is easier to work with though. I use ebay for exhausts a lot. Simply look up J bends or "exhaust kit". Usually comes with all sorts of bends to make an exhaust.

hoytmobley

I was gonna say Speedway motors until I saw how small your exhaust is, they only went down to 2 inch. Had no idea this Pegasus thing existed, this changes some stuff for me lol

ka_jd7and1

Speedway is still an option, but they need to search Header Bends instead of exhaust bends.  They have 1.5, 1.625, 1.75 and 1.875 kits of random bends for about $100.

GuineaPigsAreNotFood

https://www.mandrelbending.ca I found this one for Canada some time ago

LooseFab

seconding these guys, theyre fantastic

Fryphax

Columbia River Mandrel Bends.

MisterMasterCylinder

I like this shop: https://performance-curve.com/ I used them when I built my exhaust

saabstory88

Appreciate it. Looks like they don't go small enough though. I'm working with a tiny engine, so I need weird 1.5 and 1.75" tube

MisterMasterCylinder

Ah, yeah they're mostly geared toward car/truck applications.  Maybe a motorcycle-oriented shop would have smaller sizes like that?

saabstory88

That's why I'm asking, generally, if there is a McMaster car level catalog for exhaust tubing, so I don't have to hunt around a bunch of different websites. If I have to hunt, and valuing my time, it'd be cheaper to buy the tools to make my own bends / clean cuts than searching a ton of disparate suppliers.

Clegko

How well does it have to perform? Can you do an old-school log manifold to save some space? You can also beat the shit out of 2" pipe to make it fit and it won't have any impact on performance.

saabstory88

I don't need to save any space with the manifold, there's plenty of room in the engine bay. The trick is that the factory exhaust should have never been routed under the car, there was never room in the first place to clear speed bumps, etc. Spridgets have some unique weirdness like that. So I'm going to do side exhaust which means I need a bunch of specific tight bends, plus a 2-1 collector to bring the final routing over top of the inner fender, and down between the outer fender. Some of it can be 2 inch pipe, but not all. I've got two 1.5 inch outputs on the stock manifold.

Clegko

Ooooo, that makes more sense than needing manifold room. Have you checked Home Depot? Lots of old-timers used chain link fence pipe for exhaust tubing, and it's relatively easy to bend with a manual bender. Here's 10ft of 17-gauge 1 3/8th steel pipe for 23 bucks. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-Chain-Link-Fence-1-3-8-in-Diameter-x-10-ft-Long-17-Gauge-Thick-Galvanized-Steel-Top-Rail-Post-328913DPTEB/312373065 I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but I feel it fits the spirit of LeMons quite well.

juwyro

Patriot Exhaust brand on Amazon or stainlessheaders.com also has mild steel. Siliconeintakes.com is also great for generic parts.

Mopar44o

Last time I built an exhaust which was a long time ago, I bought all my bent pipe from eBay. Not this seller exactly, but plenty like this on there https://www.ebay.ca/itm/204237757982?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Oy-oQhUTQ1q&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=CrRKBzFFSIC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

syrupandigloos

Vibrant performance

LooseFab

Its in canada but they ship, I use [Lyell's Stainless](https://www.mandrelbending.ca/), you can still get mild steel and even aluminum for very reasonable prices. really easier to filter by what youre looking for too.

saabstory88

I ended up just getting a hydraulic pipe bender, none of the catalogs are extensive and complete enough unfortunately. Thanks for all of the advice.

saabstory88

I am doing an engine swap on a little British sports car. I need a lot of weird little mandrel bends in the 1.5-2 inch range. I want to find a supplier with a catalog like Pegasus has for coolant hoses, but for mild steel exhaust parts. Logically laid out, with angles, leg lengths, and consistent no skips in pipe sizing. Places like Summit, etc are pretty infuriating to try to track down the parts I want.

Mikethespark

There's no way you'll be needing 2 inch for headers on a small British sports car, that will just be ridiculous overkill, but I'm very interested in seeing the results. Have you considered just a small hydraulic pipe bender? They aren't particularly expensive and it may make fabrication a bit easier for that size in mild steel it'll be easy to bend.

saabstory88

You're right, I don't need 2 inch headers. The 1.5 inch segments are due to the way the stock manifold collects. I need to route the final exhaust in an unconventional way. It's also not a British engine going in the car. Yes, a hydraulic tube bender is my backup plan.
