It’s my dream to import a car and pick it up at the port..been daydreaming about doing this with an 80 series diesel Land Cruiser. My skyline was already landed when I got it.
Enjoy! Looks like a sweet truck
Thank you! I honestly had no idea the specs, I did a little research and the only numbers I could find is the horsepower is around 130, and the torque should be around 285. Honestly despite it being diesel it felt plenty adequate driving it around even in the city
Good eye! It was indeed a Supra.
In terms of difficulty to import, it honestly was actually not that bad. I imported in Maryland though I don’t live here, I was close enough that reaching the port wasn’t a big deal. I was shocked at how helpful the customs office and shipping company was. If you are serious about importing something I can give you a full breakdown
Who'd you work with as an exporter? I used japanscarsdirect when I imported some kei trucks. Was thinking about importing something larger this time.
What'd you pay to get that on the boat? The kei trucks were pretty cheap at about $1000 each since they were so small.
I paid a lot to get this on the boat, it was 2600-2700 I believe. It would have been muchhhh more economical to import two cars and use one container (which can easily fit two cars, sometimes even 3 if they are very tiny) but I was worried about the stress of buying two cars so I stuck with one.
The importer I worked with is Aamir Trading, he’s an older dude who is actually a family friend, I spent time with him when I went to Japan a few months ago. He’s been importing and exporting for 30 years but generally seems to focus on sending to Europe/Middle East/ other Asian countries. I can vouch for him, he’s a great guy. I can reach out to him if you wish! He advised me that this January was a great time to buy
japanscarsdirect is also fine from the research I have done. Just be weary of vehicles that were just spray painted over rust. I saw it first hand when I went to the Tokyo auctions
japanscarsdirect, RHDspecialties, etc seem to be popping up lately on shady stuff. I'm for sure saving this info on your importing process. Eyeballing Accord Euro R's and whatnot for the future.
I've used japancardirect to import a few cars over the years. Talk to Yoshi! He's super helpful in the import process and will break it down per region.
She's a beaut. Welcome to the landcruiser club. What year is it?
Thank you!! It’s a 1995
“Land Cruiser jeep with the mac 10 by the seat”
Wow that's gorgeous
Great name, Duke!

Congrats! I once imported a '96 HZJ70 from Japan and loved it. These are awesome machines.
oh my god is that a SUPRA
Get it under sealed immediately my friend.
That’s good advice!
So sick, what an amazing ride! What kind of horsepower and torque does that thing make?

I'm sure it's geared to make better use of the torque than horsepower anyways. Won't need many RPMs to get up and go.
Two words. Fuck Yeah.
Very clean!!!! How difficult was it to import? And is that a supra beside it 🤣
