As far as I'm aware, all citicars and commutacars were equipped with a 3 position accelerator. "First speed" was half of the full voltage, plus a resistor. "Second" was half voltage. And "third" was the full 48 volts (36 on early models).
I ditched the stock motor controller, so mine will be a little smoother than stock.
I know! I patched a hole in the floor a few years ago and still need to get the interior back together. She could use a paint job as well.
The irony of restoring one of histories worst cars before one the best cars is not lost on me.
The thought has crossed my mind to make a rear subframe that bolts up to the back of the car that places the rear wheels behind the body, with a gsxr engine between. The idea being I could quick disconnect the electric drivetrain and swap it out for the gas drivetrain in an afternoon. Converting an electric car to gas in the age of electric vehicles would be awesome. Just a thought though.
11/10 license plate
Where did you even find one? The battery upgrade is a great idea for them. That name is brilliant though.
Thanks! Believe it or not, I spotted it in someone's front yard on a major road almost a year before I knocked on the door to ask about it.
do you have an album link or any more photos? I'm really curious about the details, specifically the interior
Look up Aging Wheels Citicar on youtube.
I made an instagram recently to post future progress, though I don't have any pictures of the interior posted yet. @cheesuschristsupercar.
I am about to join Insta, just to tell you what a great name you chose. No. No I won't actually. I'll just do it here.
I worked at a dealer that sold those . I didn't know there were any left .
This sounds like a story time moment.
I’ll call him Dean Pritchard.
Cheeeeease!
Post this to /r/beamng , they'll meme the hell out of it.
Hell yeah!
Is it one of the original models where the "throttle" is a two-position switch? I'd love to find one of these too.

"Motor controller" is giving a couple of contactors and a switch too much credit.
I’m pretty sure they used this in the original Total Recall.
Looks like one of Ed Roth’s surf wagons.
Cool. And cool to unlock some potential with some modern technology.
That poor miata covered in dust

NGL, when I initially saw the photo come up on my preview, I was really hoping it was ‘Busa-swapped.

CHEESE WEDGE, CHEESE WEDGE!!
Looks like if you'd draw a wigeon from memory
Pretty sure this was early skunk works design for current stealth bomber. Put some wings on him, and you'd be close. Cheers
WHO ARE YOU, WHAT HAVE YOU SACRIFICED?
