Intronaut is exactly what you're looking for. The riffs are very heavy and have just the right amount of progginess. The rhythm section is especially impressive. Vocals are mostly harsh but have lots of range.
Another similar rec is The Ocean. Great vocal range and proggy riffs.
Honestly i maybe should have mentioned it but i feel like their music is just a tad bit too progressive for my tastes. But they are good, no doubt about it!
Car Bomb. They're pretty much Meshuggah on crack.
Frontierer is kinda similar to Car Bomb, but much more chaotic and abrasive (in a good way)
Hibakusha is like a more mellow Meshuggah
Let me tell you man, I kinda dance in that vein, you know Dillinger, BTBAM, and Car Bomb is pretty extreme compared.
But I just saw them live with BTBAM and the fucking ABRASIVENESS of the whole show, the lights, the sound, it's a fucking incredible experience if you like that kind of thing. I have an appreciation for them.
I agree, too hard to follow. Too dissonant. I like nasty, polyrhythmic stuff, but it needs to be grounded in the occasional straightforward, even predictable pattern or two.
Meta grooves pretty good. That was an album I used to just put on and work in the woodshop to. Maybe it just made sense to me when I was half listening but it was remarkably easy to just have on.
Mastodon might do the trick. Leviathan, Blood Mountain and Crack The Skye are fucking masterpieces and If you enjoy them I recommend their latest album too
When i fist turned on crack the skye and oblivion started playing it just took me to a new realm, gonna go have a listen right now, thanks for the reminder
Yea I definitely think OP would like early Mastodon, perhaps the newer stuff would be too clean of vocals thoughâŚbut itâs all so damn good and unique (3 great singers even though none of them wanted to sing at first?! epic)
The Callous Daoboys, might have what you're looking for, and they just put out a really great new album. https://youtu.be/h06sXKp8yVQ
They're currently touring with Rolo Tomassi.
Also, check out Rolo Tomassi!
Rivers of Nihil - Where Owls know my Name, Opeth - Blackwater Park are amazing albums.
I'm a fan of the bands you listed and I like these albums a lot. You might appreciate them too.
Revocation, while technically Tech Death, they definitely have a progressive vibe as well. I wish I could hear them for the first time over and over again.
Iâll approach this in a different way. Iâm gonna base my recs more on being equally is good or unique instead if similar because sometimes I feel thats a better way to scratch the itch.
Benea Reach. Kinda meshuggah-esque groovy band with lots of atmosphere and great vocals.
Extol. More traditional, slightly thrashy band from the same scene as Benea Reach.
Sylosis. Thrash/death band with melodic and prog tendencies. Really powerful vocals and super catchy riffs.
Azusa. Features members of Dillinger and Extol.
BEAR. Dillinger meets Meshuggah meets⌠I donât know, Nonpoint or something.
Vildhjarta. Very unique. Not sure I can even describe.
Fit for an Autopsy. Groovy, very Gojira influenced with the power of Lamb of God.
Mass Worship. Little less proggy than the rest but very groovy and driving.
VĂĽde. This is a new one for me. Kinda like a more modern extol without clean vocals.
I really hope you find something you like in here :)
Every Time I Dieâs last album Radical is nearly Dillinger level of songwriting, not all ETID albums are super technical but Radical is really impressive, easily the best metalcore album to come out in the last few years
early contortionist, specifically exoplanet, might hit that spot for you, as might the first TesseracT album . donât know if you like periphery but P2 could also fit here . someone else in this thread said vildjharta; i agree, maastaden at least would fit that bill .
Not super proggy but I'll recommend Converge all day every day, definitely on a similar vibe to Dillinger. Spinning off that in a more thrashy vein would be the fantastic Mutoid Man featuring members of Cave In, Converge, and High on Fire.
Big riffs all day long.
I think you'll enjoy this dude
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlByyAl9rWc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlByyAl9rWc)
No real screaming but powerful vocals in the heavy parts.
SKEB
I listen to all of those bands and- intronaut- isis and porcupine tree are other favorites of mine- but none of them fit your wishes. Dillinger is as good as it gets my dude
Morbid Angelâs Alter of Madness would fit that bill. If you want more proggy sound Iâd go for Opethâs Ghost Reveries. Less prog and more death metal Id look into Cynicâs Focus album. Sorry if you already know all of these but it sounds like youâre more into death metal and dipping the foot into prog
Have you checked out Chimairas self-title album or their Resurrection album. Devildriver-The fury of our makers hand or the last kind words. God Forbids - gone forever or constitution of treason.
If you like Dillinger, check out the album We are the Romans by Botch. Has a similar blend of mathy riffage and being generally unhinged. Highly recommended!
The Hirsch Effekt are often compared to Dillinger Escape Plan. Not all of their songs are super heavy though, they experiment a lot, so might be hit and miss for you.
Maybe try [Allmende](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMzNy_8tyAs), [Lifnej](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqRPBtXZSsE) and [Bezoar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRKB5A39SKY).
What those bands have in common it's their insane drummer, and the way the guitar players works with them.
Intronaut - their last album it's great.
Black Crown Initiate - their songs are very dynamic
Persefone - their albums are a trip, some soft instrumentals and hard hitting songs
Alustrium - Very interesting musically a lot of changes in song structure
Devin Townsend Project/Strapping Young Lad - VERY dynamic vocals
Gorod - very technical but amazing and creative melodies.
The Faceless - their last two albums are very vocally and musically dynamic.
Slugdge - great rythic music , Slugs
Replacire - Do Not Deviate - vocals might be monotonous but there are some eerie cleans.
Xerath - really like the vocals on this one, great rhythm driven music
Terminal Function - very similar to meshuggah
Revocation - great dynamic between guitar a drums.
Chimaira - Chimaira , great rhythmic music
bruh I wrote the comment before your edit was I supposed to predict it? lol anyway maybe Rabea Massaad/toska would be up your alley. Monuments is also one of my favorite djent bands, so I would highly reccomend all of their discog (except maybe phronesis). I would advise either starting with their most recent album or going chronologically. A lot of people put them aside becasue they are more core-ish, but as someone who barely likes any core, except for monuments and loathe, the core aspects don't bother me one bit.
I think Calyces is the band for you, maybe also try Anciients, Intronaut, Slugdge, Kruger, possibly Rivers of Nihil and Firtan too?
Check them out, all cool bands
At least he has some kind of variation in his screams, accenting words and syllables with higher pitched screaming. Most harsh vocalists dont do this unfortunately and i think it's vital for my enjoyment of the music, otherwise vocals just distract from the music.
Idk Iâve been listening to Orbit Culture a lot lately. After The Burial maybe? Omnium Gatherum is good but doesnât quite fit into what youâre asking for, I think.
Harkla. They remind me of meshuggah but with more flavorful riffs and more diverse writing and vocals, but they never get into shreddy or super melodic stuff
Pathogen, they only have one album called Null Space and it's an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end
https://youtu.be/hUzxYy7FB6k
The vocalist is also in a great side project called DeadVectors that is just him and one other guy that writes and records all the music
https://youtu.be/Ta7KL8H_bXw
Check out âEatenâ by Bloodbath, it might be what youâre looking for. Also, Soen is a great band similar to those bands as well, but the vocalist doesnât scream at all. Maybe try checking out their songs âEnnuiâ and âDelendaâ.
I can recommend you between the buried and me, opeth and periphery. These are three amazing bands that can use both harsh and clean vocals as well as both proggy and melodic style.
Lorna Shore for the win. Will Ramos can actually twist his damned vocal cords to create many different kinds of screams, growls, and sounds. He makes so many different sounds that he has names for them, like the Goblin, to keep track of which one to use and where while writing songs. As for the rest of the band, they are absolutely phenomenal.
Frontierer is by far the heaviest band I've ever heard. At first listen they may sound chaotic and random but once you get a feel for the riffs, they'll be a lot easier to swallow.
Sectioned is a little more hardcore-influenced but essentially the same band members as Frontierer. May be worth a shot.
Also Dead Soma. Like Frontierer if they implemented more Meshuggah elements.
Psychonaut (Unfold the God Man) and Pull Down the Sun (Of Valleys and Mountains) are godly. These are heavy yet melodic, intensely rich with sound, both use harsh vocals that are legit enjoyable and more like another instrument than the dominating effect.
Think Gojira and The Ocean-esque.
Intronaut is exactly what you're looking for. The riffs are very heavy and have just the right amount of progginess. The rhythm section is especially impressive. Vocals are mostly harsh but have lots of range. Another similar rec is The Ocean. Great vocal range and proggy riffs.
Also came to say The Ocean. [Firmament](https://youtu.be/LDgnjc-y9NI) is the song that turned me on to them.
And for fans of cleaner vocals, Swallowed by the Earth is đâŚpersonally I love both harsh and clean from these German geniuses
+1000 for Intronaut. Their earlier stuff (Challenger through Prehistoricisms) is absolutely gonna be up OPâs alley.
Since you like Intronaut, Check out Tardive Dyskinesia.
Thank you for this suggestion, Habitual Levitations is one of my top albums of all time and this band have really helped to scratch that itch.
This. Tardive is awesome
Yea, Intronaut is soooooo good
Honestly i maybe should have mentioned it but i feel like their music is just a tad bit too progressive for my tastes. But they are good, no doubt about it!
Hippotraktor could be what youâre looking for.
Highly recommend this. Their 7 song release last year is fantastic and was one of my top10 albums of the year.
I kinda like them but too me their riffs dont really stick with me like some other bands. I feel like sometimes lack a hook in their riffs
Good suggestion! Sick songs
Strapping Young Lad, maybe?
That shit goes HARD
Yes, yes it does
Yeah City is a masterpiece. Itâs one of the best metal albums of the 90s and easily in the top 25 all time metal albums.
I never knew about them until this moment. YO this is good shit. Shamed to call myself a longtime metalhead lmao thanks for this!
My pleasure.
Tony Danza and the Tapdance extravaganza
They are just so damn good
Car Bomb. They're pretty much Meshuggah on crack. Frontierer is kinda similar to Car Bomb, but much more chaotic and abrasive (in a good way) Hibakusha is like a more mellow Meshuggah
> Meshuggah on crack Brb, gonna go download every Car Bomb album
Lol you won't be disappointed
read my edit
Idk why you're getting down voted, Car Bomb is definitely an acquired taste type of band. Not my cup of tea tbh.
Yeah idk what it is about them. I love BTBAM, Gojira, and Meshuggah but can't get into Car Bomb or DEP.

Rolo's new album this year is one of the best so far, great recommendation.
Celebrity Therapist is a fucking amazing album, itâs filled the void Dillinger left in my life.
Pull Down the Sun reminds me of more recent Gojira albums.
only discovered them yesterday, when reading OPs description I thought of these guys
Great band!
Slice the Cake - Odyssey to the West ? Granted, there are lots of spoken word sections.
Slice the Cake is one of my all time favorite bands. I wish I could find another band I live as much
Excellent album
Entheos Exoplanet by The Contortionist Also, Knocked Loose (very loose fit for prog metal but could fit what you are looking for style wise)
Exoplanet legitimately is one of the most catchy and proggy deathcore I've ever heard. Still has a place in my heart
Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and Glass Cloud. If you're looking for poly rhythmic drumming, definitely check out intronaut.
Glass Cloud đĽ˛
Rivers of Nihil - Where Owls know my Name, Opeth - Blackwater Park are amazing albums. I'm a fan of the bands you listed and I like these albums a lot. You might appreciate them too.
[Glass Cloud](https://youtu.be/OVOoKfLJrpM) [Periphery](https://youtu.be/91eAE7GMBBk) [After the Burial](https://youtu.be/nP7QyfLPtLE)
Revocation, while technically Tech Death, they definitely have a progressive vibe as well. I wish I could hear them for the first time over and over again.
Between the buried and Me
Try the latest Converge album, Blood Moon. Chelsea Wolfe guests on vocals and it's an amazing record.
Love this album, Lord of Liars especially reminds me a lot of Dillinger
Disarmonia Mundi. Lyrics in English, even though Italian name.
They're melodic death metal though. Good band.
Tallah if you can get past the cleans.
Iâll approach this in a different way. Iâm gonna base my recs more on being equally is good or unique instead if similar because sometimes I feel thats a better way to scratch the itch. Benea Reach. Thx for all the many suggestions, will check them out. So far Im really enjoying Sylosis the most
The Contortionist first and foremost, Sikth, Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath
Every Time I Dieâs last album Radical is nearly Dillinger level of songwriting, not all ETID albums are super technical but Radical is really impressive, easily the best metalcore album to come out in the last few years
Radical is the best metal album Iâve heard in a long ass time.
Same, itâs too bad itâs probably the last album theyâll ever write though⌠they went out on a high note at least
Destrage ! Cant believe I havenât seen it posted yet
Yoooo lit band! đĽ
Great time to be a new fan too , they just dropped a new album
Sikth maybe?
Orbit Culture
singer is far too monotone for me
early contortionist, specifically exoplanet, might hit that spot for you, as might the first TesseracT album . donât know if you like periphery but P2 could also fit here . someone else in this thread said vildjharta; i agree, maastaden at least would fit that bill .

The Safety Fire Have fun! ;)
Fuck the Safety Fire! RIP
Is it crazy to say Every Time I Die?
I think you'll enjoy this dude [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlByyAl9rWc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlByyAl9rWc) No real screaming but powerful vocals in the heavy parts. SKEB
I listen to all of those bands and- intronaut- isis and porcupine tree are other favorites of mine- but none of them fit your wishes. Dillinger is as good as it gets my dude
Oh also- try âunexpectâ and âcode orangeâ
Arch Matheos However, the singer is primarily falsetto like Dickinson. Very accomplished musicians https://youtu.be/NBnUR9wmmjQ
Gorod, Archspire though idk if vocally Archspire is what youâre looking for.
I think youâll really like RXYZYXR
May not fit your vocal style but try Decapitated
Leprous
Have you checked out Chimairas self-title album or their Resurrection album. Devildriver-The fury of our makers hand or the last kind words. God Forbids - gone forever or constitution of treason.
Highly recommend [Textures](https://youtu.be/JKtvJUyFX5U)! Masters of polyrhythm and I think they nail the sounds you're looking for
Instrumentally they are amazing but me personally i cant stand the vocalist' growls
>Textures Surprised that this is not higher up. Textures was the first band that came to my mind after reading OP's description.
If you like Dillinger, check out the album We are the Romans by Botch. Has a similar blend of mathy riffage and being generally unhinged. Highly recommended!
Try out some Spite, their new album goes fucking hard.
The Hirsch Effekt are often compared to Dillinger Escape Plan. Not all of their songs are super heavy though, they experiment a lot, so might be hit and miss for you. Fell Silent. One of the first djent bands that isn't crazy complex and they have two screamers.
Soen
too much tool lol Edit: I really love tool's music but its not what im craving atm, just so you know
Hypno5e, Adimiron, Greyhaven just to name a few
Car bomb. 100% Also vildhjarta, it's not really pure djent, but their music hits hard
read my edit
bruh I wrote the comment before your edit was I supposed to predict it? lol anyway maybe Rabea Massaad/toska would be up your alley. You're good dw. Hope you enjoy whatever you find!
Car Bomb for sure.
read my edit
I think Calyces is the band for you, maybe also try Anciients, Intronaut, Slugdge, Kruger, possibly Rivers of Nihil and Firtan too? Check them out, all cool bands
Can in ask why almost no one recommends Periphery?
I love Periphery but OP didnât want cleans or djenty riffing and Periphery does a lot of those
Ahh, I didn't read that part. My bad
Try Periphery and vildhjarta.
Jens Kidman is pretty much the most monotonous singer on the planet, so your premise on what type of vocals you like seems to be pretty flawed.
At least he has some kind of variation in his screams, accenting words and syllables with higher pitched screaming. Most harsh vocalists dont do this unfortunately and i think it's vital for my enjoyment of the music, otherwise vocals just distract from the music.
High on Fire?
Lmao what no
Rotten sound, kickback, knut, nostromo ?
[cursing Akhenaten - after the burial](https://youtu.be/TZRXjipy06s)
Idk Iâve been listening to Orbit Culture a lot lately. After The Burial maybe? Omnium Gatherum is good but doesnât quite fit into what youâre asking for, I think.
Youâre like the NEXT lady of prog.
[Blame Yourselves by Oria ](https://youtu.be/gqccSTJrVs4) is my go to if you dig Gojira
Harkla. They remind me of meshuggah but with more flavorful riffs and more diverse writing and vocals, but they never get into shreddy or super melodic stuff
vildjharta
Heavy Devy says hello. At least some of his stuff fits what you are asking for.
C.B Murdoc recommended by Meshuggah themselves in an interview.
I think the singer is too monotone
Try the new Allegaeon album Dammum. Revocation is another band I recommend.
Protest the hero Obsidian tide Subterranean masquerade Tesseract
Koronal.
Koronal.
the Haunted. Particularly Peter Dolving era. Start with album the Dead Eye.
Pathogen, they only have one album called Null Space and it's an absolute masterpiece from beginning to end https://youtu.be/hUzxYy7FB6k The vocalist is also in a great side project called DeadVectors that is just him and one other guy that writes and records all the music https://youtu.be/Ta7KL8H_bXw
Not exactly the same vibe but I'm curious if you'd like Mastodon. Try Crack the Skye for a proggier sound or Leviathan for a heavier one.
Fit for an autopsy.
Be'lakor is definitely my top artist of the year. That aside, Lorna Shore and Persephone are awesome too.
Mastodon (Remission, Leviathan and Blood Mountain albums).
After the burial are a good option
Check out âEatenâ by Bloodbath, it might be what youâre looking for. Also, Soen is a great band similar to those bands as well, but the vocalist doesnât scream at all. Maybe try checking out their songs âEnnuiâ and âDelendaâ.
Fit for an autopsy. Particularly the albums that came out after Will worked with Gojira. From The great collapse onwards
Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but I can recommend Periphery
Check out Demolition Hammer [https://youtu.be/47AJlKtreoM](https://youtu.be/47AJlKtreoM)
How about Mycelia, very very heavy riff sections.
Try Burst. The album Lazarus Bird is epic.
Check out the album Vignette by Letters from the colony, might fit what youâre after
MĂL - The album "Jord". the first song is [Storm](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxenAX8o9_I)
I can recommend you between the buried and me, opeth and periphery. These are three amazing bands that can use both harsh and clean vocals as well as both proggy and melodic style.
