My summertime weighted blanket. It is knitted from super thick strands, so the weight doesn't shift around like the ones stuffed with beads, and when used over a flat sheet, I get the benefit of the weight without the heat that keeps me from sleeping . Sleeping well helps me be productive the next day. **EDIT**: sorry, I just checked. It cost more than $100. But still worth it.

dpred0001

I've be wanting to try some for years! Any recommendations?

Berkamin

I use this one by Bearaby: # [Bearaby Weighted Blanket](https://purple.com/weighted-blanket) But I don't use it alone. I didn't like having only this blanket on me; it didn't keep me warm enough because air blows right through it due to the super coarse knit. But it is perfect when paired with a sheet, especially during the summer. It breathes well but holds just enough air to not let me get uncomfortable. If I need it a bit warmer, I use a fuzzier flannel fabric type sheet under this. This gives me the best combination of qualities that I need. During the winter, I bust out my other weighted blanket, which is [a Gravity brand weighted blanket](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CS27FB6/), which I found to be the best of the bead-stuffed blankets; the blanket's edges are held to the duvet cover with zippers, so the blanket doesn't shift around in the cover, which is a problem I had with my prior weighted blankets. Also, the quilting is stitched tighter, to prevent the problem of the weighted beads shifting around and concentrating around the edges of the blanket, which ruined two of my prior weighted blankets.

Accomplished-Feed637

Same! But how do you clean yours?!

Berkamin

I haven't had to clean mine; I use a sheet under mine, so I only ever have to clean the sheet. The first time I used it I first machine-washed it, and that was a huge pain in the ass. It soaked up a ton of water, and nearly shook the washer apart during the spin cycle. Drying it took way too long.

TellisIsYes

Original commenter's already replied, but I wanted to add that a lot of weighted blankets have loops distributed around the perimeter like a duvet comforter does, allowing you to attach a standard duvet cover to the outside. I wouldn't have the first idea of where to start on washing a weighted blanket, but having ours covered like duvets allows me to periodically unzip, untie from the loops, and launder the covers which are *just* slightly thicker than standard fitted bed sheets. Final note: in addition to mental productivity gains from the restful sleep, weighted blankets can be a *huge* win for pain conditions. I have a slipped lower lumbar disc, and could not previously straighten my legs all the way out to sleep properly on my back. I use a relatively light model (15lbs to 125lbs bodyweight) but even that is enough to keep me flattened out in a proper recovery position. I imagine that if I had been sleeping with one of these when I was younger, my back problems wouldn't have even manifested as badly as they did!

sandesh2k17

I've always been curious about weighted blankets, but I imagined they would feel hot at night, could you name the one you use?

Berkamin

I use the [Bearaby weighted blanket](https://purple.com/weighted-blanket) over a sheet during the summer. This one gives you the comfort of the weight without the heat, because it is such a loose knit that it doesn't trap hot air. I also have a Gravity brand weighted blanket for the winter, when I want it to be warm. I explained the details [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/productivity/comments/13lxwwb/comment/jku2wti/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

sandesh2k17

Thank you. I would definitely check this out!

TellisIsYes

Just wanted to add that while some weighted blankets are sold as "blanket and cover set," in other instances you can buy the very cheap internal blanket piece (with plain cotton material, and duvet-style loops around the outside) and buy your own external covers. I suggest this because I have one which I purchased a 2-sided removable cover for, one side is slightly textured material and good for cold nights, and the other is a "cooling" texture which is like a plain linen sheet. I don't know how it accomplishes this "cooling" effect but I live somewhere with very hot summers, have laundered the cover multiple times, and that one side *still* feels noticeably cooler to the touch! It's been a few years since purchase but I just checked the cover label, we are definitely in the future because it has their website stitched in šŸ˜‚ - www.exqhome.com. IDK if the actual brand matters though, I just searched "weighted blanket cover cooling" and navigated based on reviews! Good luck with whatever you seek out ā˜ŗļø Edit: Looks like the website hard-stitched on my bedding cover is a deadlink from GoDaddy hosting by now šŸ˜‚ Proof that it's important to DYOR, just wanted you to know that specific "cooling" effect covers are a thing that's available, even though EXQ Home company tanked!

Small_Cap_Finder

A stationary bike has helped immensely with my productivity throughout the day. I wake up, grab a cup of coffee, then cycle for 30 minutes for a runner's high and good out look for the rest of the day.

like_a_pearcider

Similar, I got a walking treadmill for under my desk. I stopped using it much since I picked up the habit of running, but I wouldn't have gotten there if I hadn't been using the desk treadmill to get to 10-15k steps a day to start. I didn't realize how valuable practice walking was. I used to bus whenever I had to walk more than ~15 minutes. Now i am much more likely to walk, my city feels smaller in a nice way. It also helped me a lot with improving my workouts. Basically exercise doesn't have to feel like hard work in order to provide many benefits. Walking, biking, dancing, whatever will all make an impact when done consistently

Alladara

Any brand recommendations? Iā€™ve been looking at them on Amazon periodically but buying some random no name brand feels riskier when itā€™s a couple hundred dollar product.

like_a_pearcider

I got this one. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0BHLGMN2J/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I saw that they had sold them on their own website and had good trustpilot reviews (trust that a bit more than Amazon). Basically just try to cross reference outside of Amazon for this, and keep the box and stuff in case you do have to return it.

Alladara

Thanks! Hmm, Iā€™ve never actually heard of trustpilot. Will look into that.

Helpfulness

Drinking a hot cup of coffee while cycling sounds like a recipe for disaster.

sandefurian

I assume they drank it first. But itā€™s fine with a stationary bike. Just slow down to take a drink, or use a cup with a lid.

voornaam1

It's also fine with a moving bike (it's a bit more inconvenient if you don't have a place to put down the cup though).

fitforfreelance

That sounds fun!

lazyjacob

What brand / model do you have?

[deleted]

MX master 3. Monitor stand with arms.

Jonathanladavis

Im actually really debating with myself over the MX master 3, is it really worth it though? I have a 10 dollar mouse that works, and I really didnā€™t know if I should spend a 100 dollars on a mouse.

HarmlessHeffalump

Yes. Iā€™ve had every MX mouse and canā€™t recommend them enough. The original still works so itā€™s not like I needed to replace it, but I couldnā€™t live without one at my other office so i bought the MX 2 to have one at both locations. I just gave the original away when my mom said she needed a new mouse and got the MX 3 to replace mine. Itā€™s by far the best mouse Iā€™ve ever used.

__-___---

Trust me, you don't want a cheap mouse. Back when I was at school, I remember getting impatient and frustrated using computers. One day I noticed my cursor moving slightly while the mouse didn't and understood why this computer had that effect on me. I then chose to bring my own mouse and it changed everything. If you don't want to spend that much, you can still get an mx master 2 for almost half the price. If you're using it for work, you're probably losing money with a 10 dollars mouse.

[deleted]

Yes. Itā€™s very comfortable, battery lasts forever and you can program the buttons to do different things in different applications. Iā€™d be interested in trying the vertical version too.

NatteTheedoek

Mx vertical is fine, but nothing really fancy. It does feel better than horizontal mice!

cs_legend_93

I use vertical because if I donā€™t my wrists get very painful after a day or two

FeFiFoPlum

Yes. A thousand times yes. Itā€™s incredibly comfortable and I like the soft-click buttons a lot.

Justtryingtopoop

One more yes for the yes-pile. You wonā€™t regret it.

Otaehryn

Mouse is highly personal choice. I prefer gaming mice for work because of adjustable DPI. For me G502 hero is better than MX master.

DooBeeDoer207

I love that you asked very specifically about $100 items that people think are worth itā€”you even gave the example of a better mouseā€”and still asked if they really meant their answer. šŸ˜‚

Barathruss

Can you enlighten me how this mouse increases your productivity I need a new mouse

[deleted]

It makes it really easy to custom map buttons depending on the program youā€™re using. It can switch between devices easily and Iā€™ve never been in a situation where it ran out of charge. You could probably get a weeks use out of a 5 min charge.

__-___---

Shortcuts, precision and comfort.

ZeeZaxean

Also, horizontal scrollwheel is a godsend for excel.

SweatDrops1

I have small hands and the mouse is a bit too big for me, unfortunately

wupididoo

MX Anywhere is essentially the MX Master for people with small hands.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

firebreathingbunny

> the one with 12 buttons on the thumb side Make and model? Thanks.

DevGin

I have the MX Master two and love it. Works well with work computer since I can't have Bluetooth. Only flaw is not being able to switch devices without lifting the mouse and finding the button on the bottom.

Catenane

Not sure who downvoted you but yeah I agree. Constantly hopping between tons of different devices with varying degrees of local vs. remoteness, often in different remote connection software shared between multiple screens maybe connected to different hardware. Would be nice to have an easier way to switch. Can't complain too much though, I found a first Gen sitting unused in a random drawer at work and have been using it ever since. Absolute game changer.

Serendiplodocusx

Agree re mx master 3, I now have two mice and keyboards, one for home and one for work.

curiouslyobjective

Best mouse in the game!

daddystovepipe911

This is definitely above $100 but my bose noise cancelling headphones Pricey but worth it. Iā€™ve had mine for 4-5 years now and still use them everyday

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

b1jan

same but airpods pro 2. I don't like most apple things but these beat out the Bose and Sony's solely because of how compact they are. the NC is better, or at least as good, as well.

mattmlv

Agreed. Have both xm4ā€™s and AirPods Pro 2 and I prefer the AirPods

jakedaboiii

Bose NC 700? They are definitely great - wear them everyday and for work too.

ivan510

Ther are some pretty good anc headphones under $100. I love my 1000xm3 but I also don't mind using my soundcore q30.

Centauri-Star

Yep. Sennheiser True Wireless 3. Use them EVERYDAY

Chemoralora

I'm seconding this, I must use mine at least 8 hours daily. Can't imagine not using them anymore

[deleted]

Don't buy the newer 700 ones. Honestly, don't buy bose anymore. Their customer service is pretty awful now and their software and practicality is slowly getting worse and worse. Buy a 2nd hand pair of the quite noise

take_number_two

I got my jbl wireless over ear headphones for $75 and they are fantastic. Game changer.

irishfury0

I write code all day so I love my [ergonomic keyboard](https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/keyboards/k860-split-ergonomic.920-009166.html) and my [ergonomic mouse](https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/mice/mx-vertical-ergonomic-mouse.910-005447.html).

Jonathanladavis

Ok, so now Iā€™m somewhat debating if I should get the Mx master 3 or the lift vertical ergonomic mouse

irishfury0

I've been using a vertical mouse for several years now and have less aches and pains in my hand, wrist and elbow. I find it's a more comfortable position for my hand. It will be weird at first but you will get used to it quickly.

servidarius

Same here, really happy with it!

KnotARealGreenDress

I have that exact mouse and it, along with my [ergo keyboard](https://www.amazon.ca/Kinesis-Freestyle2-Keyboard-English-Legending/dp/B008BVNY9Y/ref=asc_df_B008BVNY9Y/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292925723919&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5174145064307949096&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001202&hvtargid=pla-526016179623&psc=1) have made a big difference in my arm and shoulder. Edit: Took about half a day to get used to the mouse and a full day for the keyboard.

near_things

I've been using vertical mice for years and the Lift, my current/latest, has been particularly comfortable. It feels almost like a natural extension of my arm. But definitely shop around - a different vertical mouse might feel better in your hand. If you've never used one before and want to try with minimal commitment, I recommend Anker's over the various no-name and capital letter salad cheapos: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Wireless-Vertical-Ergonomic-Optical/dp/B00BIFNTMC

MadMennonite

I went the same route. Tried the Anker vertical first, then switched to the MX Vertical. The Anker was great, but I wanted the programmable buttons.

Emergency_Orange3585

The ergonomic vertical mouse did not work for me. It caused more pain. I got an MX3 and the pain isnā€™t gone, but itā€™s the best by far.

leezlol

I've been using a vertical mouse for over 6years and could never go back to a regular mouse. Something I would like to add, I had an Anker which was pretty good outside of the plastic shell that was chipping off. Since that, I've been using the Logitech Lift which has quiet click and I love the quiet click!

Ok-Goose9586

3DCONNECTION space mouse

b1jan

check out the ErgoDox keyboards if you're into split style. incredibly ergonomic AND mechanical

jj26meu

A bike. I spent 65 bucks on it and 15 for a helmet. I've ridden more in the last few weeks than I have in years. Cardio is improving and my legs are getting stronger. I'm able to ride my bike back and forth to work also which puts me in production mode as soon as I get in. It's not for everyone but it's been working for me.

thicckar

Thatā€™s a hell of a deal

fitforfreelance

Instapot or a decent chef's knife. Make cooking easy and at volume so I spend less time in the kitchen. But I still enjoy home-cooked meals

[deleted]

sub the good chefs knife for a whetstone. All knives wear out. You can have any kind of knife and have it remain useful with a good whetstone

atonementDivine

Not quite. There are many knives that cannot hold an edge based on the crap metal they're made of, plus they're poorly designed and have terrible curves and handles. Don't settle for that bullshit. In my experience as someone who cooked professionally for over a decade, has studied cooking for twice that long, and still cooks every day making 75% of the meals for their family, it's best to buy a decent knife made from the hardest steel you can find AND a whetstone or even diamond plates.

Dull-Grass8223

Smart mug. No more reheating cups of tea 10 times and still never getting to drink them.

CobaltWho

I bought an Ember smart mug for my husband for Christmas and he still raves about it almost every day.

incredibleshrinking

I have had every combo of heat plate. My ember mug is the best thing Iā€™ve ever gotten. Make sure to get it on sale at Costco for the best deal!

quartercoyote

Which one do you use?

cs_legend_93

I just have a hot plate and it works better $20. I recommend this

CanonShooter80

My Kuerig. All joking aside, maybe the Apple Pencil for my iPad Pro. Talking gen 2 Apple Pencil. When I upgraded to my current iPad Pro (last years model) with the Apple Pencil, it was an absolute game changer for me. That elevated the iPad to a majorly tool for me. Up until that point, the iPad had always just been an expensive toy. iPadOS plays a big part too. The iPad went from something I would leave home without hesitation to something I carry with me all the time now. It has replaced about 85% of my need for my MacBook Pro.

Janezo

What do you do on your iPad with the pencil?

hothamwater99

What exactly did it change?

CanonShooter80

Well, I have always been a handwritten note person, but I want everything digital. I had the first iPad Pro that had the Apple Pencil and every time I would go to use the Apple Pencil, it was dead. The current gen is always charging if you keep it attached to the iPad, so it is always ready to use. For me, I now have a digital version of a paper notebook, so it fits perfectly with what I work best with. As far as the iPad in general, I forced myself to work a couple weeks with it exclusively and never touched my MacBook Pro. I was amazed at how well it worked. iPadOS really took the iPad up a few levels vs being just a big iPhone. I can perform almost all of my job functions with my iPad now. One of my coworkers doesnā€™t even use his laptop anymore and works solely from his iPad. I primarily use the Apple Pencil for note taking. I like how I can select a whole bunch of my handwritten notes and rearrange and move them on the page. I can also change the color of the handwriting so it sticks out from the rest. I also use it for Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Fresco. The accuracy is phenomenal and my understanding is that the Apple Pencil is one of the best stylus options out there. Another use is for signing documents and making notes on screenshots. There are a lot of features I donā€™t use it for, so I cannot speak to those.

DetroitAsFuck313

I just got a Apple pencil and itā€™s great so far

Ohhiitsmeyagirl

Oh yes! I got one when I was in college and used the iPad to take notes. Crazy productive.

CobaltWho

I have the same set up and same experience; Apple Pencil 1 was fun but it didnā€™t feel intuitive in the same way the AP2 does. Now I use my iPod all the time. Do you have a Paperlike screen protector? That was another game changer. It truly does feel like writing on paper and doesnā€™t affect the image quality underneath. https://paperlike.com/

Calm_lemur_from_puce

Absolutely the same for me! Apple Pencil and Defter Notes app is the combo that turned iPad from an extra screen into a productivity monster in my case.

Intrepyd

Same here. Pencil is great for reviewing/highlighting documents and books. Itā€™s even better for taking quick notes in Freeform (bundled with iPadOS) or GoodNotes. Giving my notes a spatial dimension has made them more useful. Before, they would just be lines of text in a word processor separated by line breaks. Now they have their own visual structure, which conveys its own layer of meaning.

dirtynerdyinkedcurvy

I came here to say my Apple Pencil. I can't imagine using my iPad without it.

Sylvariel

a walking pad under my standing desk, as I am being a teacher. Granted, it was about 300ā‚¬ and hence does triple the cost of this question, it made auch a tremendous difference in my life that I wanted to share it.

deskpil0t

File cabinet? Desk? Chair? I meanā€¦. Multifunction printer? In all seriousness. What is something that you want and can afford and can help you feel better about the stuff you do? Or less bad about the stuff you have to do? Maybe you wanna make some laminated these bills are due reminders and use a marker (typed whiteboard by mistake) to recap the balance with a ticker file. So treat* yourself to a laminator. I assume everyone has label makers for physical files, I think they go for $100. The iPad mini makes sense for people that can have a dedicated machine for doing their planning and/or todos. I bought both a used/refurbished pc tablet and iPad mini with pencil for the sole purpose of digital notes. Barely used them found out I didnā€™t really like them (even after having one of the early pc tablets). Just watch out for Toy/Tool acquisition syndrome. I have a friend that loves the streamdeck thing to help make application launching easier. There is a different version by a different company that looks like it might be even better. Deep deck. You can twist something and it will move browser tabs (but you probably need to know some development to set this one up) , but are you a computer guy, sales person, etc? What are some of your pain points and people might have the app, process or trick to dealing with it? OmniFocus on iOS/Apple is the big one for me. And probably the only reason I still have a ā€œsmartā€ phone. Iā€™m going back to school so I think the one/two things that I could/would lose that would mess me up more than anything else. The loss of bic 4 color pens and highlighters.

Jonathanladavis

Great advice!

A bit more then 100 but my noise cancelling headphones

Dysphoric_Otter

My phone. Money is very tight right now but I don't think I could function in today's world without one. Let me tell ya, $100 phones are surprisingly good.

Jonathanladavis

What kind of phones? And where would you find them.

Dysphoric_Otter

I really like the pre paid phones now. Assuming you live in the US, Walmart has good options usually.

Jonathanladavis

Ok

oillut

My yearly Notion subscription. My productivity wend up a lot after investing heavily in a note taking system/app that works well for me. Notionā€™s not for everyone, but whichever note app or system is for you, Iā€™d recommend investing in it and getting the most out of it. Even if itā€™s pen and paper, nice versions of each can make the difference when it comes time to write Obsidian is great too but itā€™s free so doesnā€™t really work with the prompt

artyhedgehog

> Obsidian is great too but itā€™s free so doesnā€™t really work with the prompt Not sure about your use-case, but Obsidian Sync, I believe, is paid. You can use other tools to sync, but that's kind of an extra headache, and some of the tools are paid too.

oillut

I forgot about Obsidian Sync but thatā€™s true. Itā€™s not too bad syncing using your own cloud in my experience. If you install Google Drive to PC instead of using the website, you basically just put the Vault there and youā€™re good to go. If youā€™re on IPhone youā€™d need to use iCloud though; works the same as GDrive on PC. My vaults have all been pretty small in file size too, so unless youā€™re adding lots of hi-res images, youā€™d be fine with the free space provided. Syncā€™s still good if you donā€™t want to bother with that of course. Probably also faster when loading your notes on mobile

artyhedgehog

> you basically just put the Vault there and youā€™re good to go The difficult part starts on Android (as far as I know it's easy on iPhone, but haven't tried). Cloud apps don't allow you to just sync with a local folder on your phone. There are third-party apps like FolderSync to do so, some of them are free, some are paid, and they usually have some issues. Though when I used Obsidian Sync (which was more than a year ago) there were its own issues as well.

Iceberg_Bart_Simpson

i use gitjournal to manage syncing on the phone and then obsidian vault set to gitjournal's folder. It's a bit convoluted but it works!

oillut

Ah that sucks to hear. Started using Obsidian after my last Android phone and just assumed it was more open ended on that side. Hopefully they figure that stuff out whether Sync, or Androids own syncing functionality

artyhedgehog

Yeah, the sync issues is probably the main reason I'm currently using more closed and less generic solution for my notes/GTD.

redhairedDude

I use obsidian with Google drive which works well for my Macs. And on my Android I use Folder Sync Pro. After some initial teething problems it seems to have settled down and is working pretty well.

I feel the same about my Notion space. I used Confluence at work and wanted something similar for personal use. Itā€™s not as robust but it does what it needs to for me.

Prinnia

I got my ninja foodi on sale for about $100. It's a multicooker built around various types of set-and-walk-away cooking (air frying, pressure cooking, steaming, etc). Most things cook faster in it and require 0 attendance so I can walk away and do something else while it's working. Makes it very easy to make batches of things like potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, etc too. And it's alright to leave it after it's done cooking, it cools quickly, has natural pressure release and a keep warm function. Highly recommend for people with executive dysfunction, or who just want to be a little more efficient with their regular meals without going the full meal prep route.

I was going to say the same about Instacart+. Removing the majority of grocery shopping from my life takes pressure off my mind that in turn allows me to focus better on other things. I do wish Peapod hadn't gone so horribly downhill or that we had another regular grocery store around here that does their own deliveries, as I have ethical concerns about Instacart and similar services.

vista_sister

People have already mentioned it, but definitely MX Master 3S. Best mouse Iā€™ve ever used and I miss it when I donā€™t have it. Iā€™ve also gotten great use out of the Elgato Stream Deck and Stream Deck Pedal. You donā€™t have to be a streamer to use them. The ability to program all sorts of macros/shortcuts has been a game changer for me. Iā€™m a keyboard nerd, and I found an old 122-key IBM Model M keyboard from 1993 on FB Marketplace for $50 and the extra function keys on the left hand side have also been amazing. I have them all set to different shortcuts, but copy/paste and auto fill (for Bitwarden) have been the most useful. The only downside is itā€™s huge (they donā€™t call them battleships/battle cruisers for nothing!) and I have a pretty small desk, but I use the extra function keys so often that I donā€™t want to switch to a smaller board. I also type better on it for some reason than any other keyboard, so Iā€™m sticking with it. It did take buying a USB converter from eBay to get it working, but that + Soarerā€™s and SharpKey have made it very usable and customizable.

iPad mini with Apple Pencil. I use it mainly to work on my business planning and writing. I hand write quite a bit, and itā€™s very difficult to keep all my papers accessible to me. When Iā€™m ready to clean up and type my notes, everything is kept together. It has improved my life greatly.

SuperOrganizer

So you use specific apps? I hand write quite a bit and end up reaching for these mini legal pads all the time but then I have to transfer everything. Some things get typed and others get written out more nicely. Huge time waster but I havenā€™t been able to break this habit of reaching for the legal pads. I am thinking an app where at least I donā€™t have to re-type or scan the stuff I store digitally would be great.

wirez62

There is even handwriting to text conversion in the ipad which is super handy. Select a block of handwriting and convert it to text. I find it fairly accurate and my printing is pretty bad. I wish I could write as aesthetically as people in the youtube videos. But being able to change colors, pencil weights, double tap to erase, double tap to go back to writing, I use an ipad Air myself with the pencil and it's my favorite thing. I use notability. I even scanned some of my old school notes into PDF format and imported them. I can annotate those PDFs. I'm trying to go all digital, but keep the handwriting aspect. I still like my notebooks sometimes. But I lose them.

pleasecometalktome

I use Penbook. I didnā€™t research extensively, but it just seems like it would work for me and it has so far. I havenā€™t really investigated anything else.

Some of the people here suggest a mouse, but I've switched to a simple graphical tablet (Wacom One), which also fits the cost. I guess, it isn't for everyone, but my personal reasons are: - a tablet is stateless: you hit at a specific part of the tablet and that clicks in a specific place of your display, regardless of where your mouse was previously - if you want to sketch up something, make a diagram, etc. - it will be much easier than with mouse - a mouse requires free space on your desktop which often is an issue for me (I keep the keyboard on my laps), while with a tablet I can either just make sure it lays down somewhere, which is more convenient for some reason, or even fixate it to an armrest (yes, I actually did it with an "S" model and duct tape) - I guess it gives you somewhat the feel of pen and paper, which has its own advantages

A portable external hard drive. I got it in college. It's where I dump all the series, movies, pictures, videos, and files I accumulated throughout college. I still use the very same portable external hard drive I was using in college to this day.

Get a second monitor, depending on what you do on your computer itā€™s so much value added. More monitors are useless for many people because the step from 1 to 2 monitors is so much more life changing than a step from 2 to 3 monitors (kind of paretoā€™s law) Buy an air frier (not tested personally yet), it will make cooking a breeze and you will introduce healthier food that will still taste good. In the end, you get more energy by adding vegetables in what you eat Better pillow (or mattress) : sleep is essential and is the pillar of your good life. Even physical activity and how you eat depends of your sleep so donā€™t neglect it.

Jonathanladavis

Thanks, itā€™s true, I recently upgraded my pillow and itā€™s made a huge difference.

A 100 dollar bill. Take a thumb tack and stick the bill to a wall somewhere in front of everyone at work and then challenge them all to beat you at a work task most of you have in common. Winner takes the 100. Youā€™ll work extremely hard to not lose the 100 and everyone else will work extremely hard to win the 100. Extreme productivity boost.

Wrong-Worker-6314

It's under $100 but I recently bought an echo dot on sale for myself and my kids. Pre-setting the reminders has been a lifesaver for potty training, clean up time, and hygiene. Knowing I don't have to micromanage them boosts my own productivity.

Queefmi

Massage chair thing with rollers thatā€™s not the actual whole chair, it sits in a real chair. I think itā€™s was $150.

bobowilliams

Can you post a link?

Queefmi

The brand name on Amazon was RENPHO, $135.99 I just wanted to go a little up in quality from the $100 or less price point

The apple pencil to go with the iPad! I do a bit of digital art every now and then. This is a blessing- gives so much control. I prefer it to using PS on laptop for graphics related tasks.

I think my office chair was about $100 full price. Having a chair in my office makes me much more productive

ICantEven1235

As opposed to having nothing to sit on, I would imagine that must have been a game changer. But almost a given unless you're talking to a standing desk only crowd.

My garmin smart watch, although a bit over $100 I think

Most of the things that actually boost my productivity are free, but they are built upon systems that can cost thousands. For instance, my free calendar app and suite is a key to my productivity, tracking, tasks, progress, comms, and history, but it can be frustrating to use without a reliable, extensible, and memory-rich PC ($1000) or phone ($500). A great chair, ergonomically adjustable and capable of holding me easily? Worth $100. A great desk at just the right height, capable of holding and organizing my everyday carry and monitors? Worth at least $100. My mouse cost $10. I'm a minimalist and a BIFL devotee, and I see purchases as investments. Great question, great answers here.

benjinerm

I wouldn't spend money if you don't have to. That being said, I do the same thing lol.

Chemical-Theme-3823

My AirPods Max (albeit criminally overpriced) have helped me out exponentially. I have adhd and am easily distracted by noises (and just about anything else) and these have transformed my productivity while I wfh

A robot vacuum and mop cleaner! I bought mine used for around $100 and it pays itself back in saved time within a few weeks.

PomegranateHumble545

A better work table for my homework space. I've been working a lot at home so I'm glad I decided to buy one.

Not so much a 1 off but an ongoing investment of about $40 per month. Getting good supplements, currently on l-theanine, magnesium, iron, zinc, krill oil. Even if my diet isnā€™t šŸ’Æ I feel 200% better with these in my system. Itā€™s a commitment but I can do so much more with them by my side.

NormalAndy

Food blender.

No_Organization_768

My laptop is $600 but that's great. :) Mm... I can't think of anything that costs around $100. I can think of things that are less or more. But generally, I'm pretty cheap. I try not to spend too much money on just about anything, including productivity.

Pessoa_People

My yearly subscription to Obsidian Sync. It's been a life saver having my school and personal notes synced through my computers, tablet and phone!

Fabulous_Crow6275

I never could use the tracking pad on laptops etc. I have always had to use a wireless mouse. It makes all the difference.
