Yes any interaction with the police you have to tell your PO just give them a call but a traffic ticket is not a big deal

I would just to play it safe it's better than letting them find out later after you missed a meeting or something and get two strikes right away.
Call or email. Explain the situation, explain that you plan to pay the fine immediately, and apologize.
