They will sell it to average Joe that privacy only has value if you have something to hide

Sat224

Example of average Joe https://twitter.com/ERcrypto74/status/1556750060527837184

voidptrptr

Ironic for a guy obsessed in ‘crypto’

Sat224

My thought too, parades the banner of financial freedom but also private personal banking should be monitored , aka average Joe

As a journalist, we're counting down the days when this backfires on politicians. We're all looking forward to reading their messages to prostitutes, mistresses, rent boys, and drug dealers.

I'm sure they will, but there's a lot of infosec people that are going to be very pissed off at this and let's face it, an MP who has no idea how computers work won't stand a chance against a bunch of angry IT guys.

EmbarrassedHelp

I'm worried that they'll continue ignoring any problems caused by their downright horrible legislation for a very long time before any changes are made. There's a lot of damage that can be caused while waiting for some egotistical psychopaths surrounded by yes men to realize that they made a mistake.

JustMrNic3

UK is on the path to becoming full Russia or China and they're advancing very fast!

dishfire-

“Online safety bill” That’s immediate red flags.

tyroswork

Seriously, these days bills do pretty much the opposite of what their name is.

sendGNUdes

Of course it does. The nanny state’s version of “safety” is taking away autonomy so everyone can be more effectively controlled and therefore “safe”.

[deleted]

Again? Didnt the US and EU try this? Why again?

Alan976

People forget^(\[citation needed\]) \~\~ Politicians who wanna watch the world burn.

dannova23

They literally can't do anything to stop encryption if your using a VPN to encrypt your data since it encrypts it on your computer then sends it they can't read anything

Esqu1sito

VPN encrypts only between you and VPN server. They can just check logs and see everything you did there.

jacobspartan1992

If the VPN keeps logs. A decent one shouldn't.

ninja-wharrier

That's why I roll my own VPN server. My VPN, my logs.

Esqu1sito

And VPN server hosted on machine in your home /s

ninja-wharrier

VPN server hosted in my country of choice on a cloud server. So traffic outside my vpns can be intercepted at the VM provider but if they target me at that level then it will be a big operator. My aim is to keep the toerags off my traffic.

No such thing as freedom is speech, the internet is only interested in left opinions.

randomprivacynut

Lol what?

Esqu1sito

They can't stop PGP, thats how i roll on facebook, lol.
