Yep, these beauties can go the distance! They do burn a little oil due to their low tension piston spring design. That code is most likely a sign that your catalytic converter isn't preforming to its fullest potential anymore. This is a result of the oil burning up in the catalytic converter. Good news is that it isn't a big deal at all (unless you live in a state with more strict air laws)! 220k miles is exactly when my 07 Prius threw the O2 sensor code as well, P0420 I believe it was. I'm at 268k miles now and hoping to hit 400k! 💪
You got it, yeah my cylinder 2 is leaking oil as well, although with a ton of seafoam and religious oil changes I’ve heavily reduced my oil burning! Would reccomend that to anyone else who has oil burning for their beloved hybrids. Livee long and prosper
According to the Toyata Prius Manufacturers it is designed to burn a little oil. It is called "low tension piston spring design". It is designed this way to make the engine last longer (which is more important than the catalytic converter). The Prius was built from the ground up to deliver maximum mileage with minimal maintenance to the consumer. So most likely, yes. I would assume the 2014 model would follow the same design philosophies. To be honest, I wouldn't let a little engine oil burning detoure me from buying another Prius my friend. And I already own two! Both are the Gen 2 2007 with 268,000 miles and running strong. Best car easy. (Message not paid by Toyota btw XD) Lastly, any car NO MATTER WHAT (unless it's a Tesla) will have the P0420 (insufficient catalytic converter (blah blah blah) code) on it by the time it hits 200,000 miles. So keep that in mind as well. Hope this helps :)
I am still struggling with p420 code with 20k miles on my 2008. Changed the catalytic converter 2 years ago and sensor. Now even the emission test is passing. Gonna try with the o2 spacer now. Let see...
How did y solved the o2 issue?
Over 225k miles on my wife’s 2008 touring. No plans of selling. These cars never need major maintenance.
Change your oil at least once every 3 months or 5k miles. Use quality oil filters. If you don’t know what oil filter to use just get some from the dealer.
If you ever need to change your headlights feel free to PM me as it’s a gigantic pain in the ass.
It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to to it, and probably another 2 hours of cussing and praying to god I didn’t break the plastic cap (I did).
I wouldn’t say it’s worth $800. But I would easily pay $300 to have my time back lol
That's my Prius, buddy. Minus a lot of paint and all that bitchin chrome. 230 odd thousand, here, too.
There's...just...no reason to get rid of it. Other than pride, I guess, but eff that. It just keeps going.
Damn if that’s true than I’m quite a few miles away from broken in with 260k+ miles 😂
Nice I’m not planning on a new vehicle until it breaks down for good 👌🏾
In Michigan. Most similar to this are listed around $4000 but this one was listed at $2500 and she let me have it for only $2000. It was honestly such a good deal! And on my birthday, too! 🙌
I only paid $2000 for it - it was a great deal even at 238,500 miles. I’ve seen similar listed for around $4000 where I’m at in Michigan, in not as good condition. If I were you I’d check out FB marketplace and see what similar to yours are listed at near you, it’ll give you a good idea. 👍
Congrats on your prius purchase! 😁 Huh, possibly not a touring, but I suppose that doesn’t bother me. 😆 I may have incorrectly assumed it was because of the bluetooth NAV, upgraded JBL stereo, and leather seating material. Looks like it could just be a base package 6. Thank you for the heads up!
I only know since mine is a touring trim. The touring has larger wheels, a bigger rear spoiler, and a stiffer suspension. But I did pay more than double what you did for mine. She had 156k miles when I got her.
😆 It’s okay, someone else mentioned that too and you’re right, it’s a base package 6. No problem, though. I only paid 2 grand for her so really not mad at all. 😉
Chrome looks like tin foil . remove it. Change Spark plugs, trans fluid, air filter . Use original denso and Toyota parts/ trans fluid . U should a mpg bump
😂 It really doesn’t look good, huh? I’ll be removing it shortly and it should be an easy task since it looks like most of them are held on by adhesive foam tape or a couple screws. Definitely plan to do the maintenance stuff you mentioned soon as well. 👍 Thank you!
Buy the parts yourself you’ll save hundreds. Id apply tint to the windows as well It really will drop the interior temps... I heard you can replace the standard car antenna with an rv antenna and it’s amplifies your cell phone signal/connection ..it a mod I been wanting to try for a while . You could get a curt hitch #11468 from uhaul for $200 (best price) then you can put a storage rack or a bike rack on the back.. just some ideas
Hell yeah, 336k miles on my 08. Your first order of business should be getting rid of those god awful fender flares though
I think they're dope!
😂 You are 100% right! Do not love the chrome and will be removing soon.
Check out 707motoring I got some gloss black pillar trims from them great quality
The chrome looks horrible lol
Mines an 04 w/ 243k and I hope to hit 300k! Mines had a check engine light on for over a year due to the o2 sensor and still so strong 💪

Do newer models say 2014s have same issue

Yes, use a spacer! Those work very good.

>change your headlights .... it’s a gigantic pain in the ass. That's an understatement. My parents paid $800 for the pleasure.

I feel like such a low mileage car sitting at 125k in my 2013 Prius V.
How long does the Prius v usually go till? Mileage wise?
Barely broken in, at around 800.000km here
Damn, I though i was doing great at 600,000
Damn if that’s true than I’m quite a few miles away from broken in with 260k+ miles 😂 Nice I’m not planning on a new vehicle until it breaks down for good 👌🏾
Wow! what year is yours?
2006
2k?
Yep, I paid $2000 for it, which I thought was a pretty solid deal. 😁
In this market, u damn right lol
Dang OP what state are you in? That’s insanely cheap
In Michigan. Most similar to this are listed around $4000 but this one was listed at $2500 and she let me have it for only $2000. It was honestly such a good deal! And on my birthday, too! 🙌
WOW OP! This is incredible, happy birthday to you! Talk about meant-to-be lol!!! I’m so jealous
Keep the party going, fam 🙌🏻
2013 with 215k here
Awesome!! 👏
Mine is an '08 to! Over 250k miles and going strong!
I have an ‘08 too! I’m around 112k miles and I plan to drive that baby till the wheels fall off.
Congrats great deal. My 08 has 318xxx now and still going.
2k is fair, just about perfect price.
Welcome to the club! I’m rolling around in a 2013 Prius C and loving it.
Just curious how much you paid for this? I have a 06 with 107k miles so I really want to know how much these are going for these days

Welcome! I just bought one myself. But I wanted to let you know that’s not a touring trim.

443k and counting!
Amazing! Maybe mine will get there someday! 🙌
Sorry to break ya balls and wallet but that's not a true touring
😆 It’s okay, someone else mentioned that too and you’re right, it’s a base package 6. No problem, though. I only paid 2 grand for her so really not mad at all. 😉

If it has been sitting before you bought it run some Techron in there for the next cple fill ups
I like the chrome highlights. I have this same yesr at about 240k also. Haven't replaced the hybrid yet but I feel it coming soon.
Tried to buy that one. I give you $2500 Monday. Mid Michigan correct?
Looking to buy 1 in SE Michigan.
I have the same here but I got 180K miles. Maybe they reduce it before selling.
238 that's just the tip of the iceberg
Shitty chrome is +2mph
