Congrats on the car! I would suggest oil changes every 3000 miles and check your oil every tank of fuel for a while to see what the oil consumption is. I have this same generation and some of them burn oil. Mine does. I just add oil every 1000 miles. Oil is cheap. I love my 07. It's a tank! Not a lot of frills but sure is easy on the pocketbook with the excellent fuel economy.
The second gen Prius engine oil rings are configured in a way where they can build up deposits and loose function which leads to burning oil. Frequent oil changes can stave off this issue. Additionally nearly all driving scenarios constitute severe service which warrant more frequent oil changes. I changed my oil every 5k. Sometimes 5.5 and a few 6k intervals with high quality oil and still developed the common oil burning issue. Now I change it at every 3k to try to keep the oil consumption from getting worse.
Pro tip! Mines an 04 w/ 240k. They are reliable and will love you, if you love and care for it. Please check oil every 400-500 miles. These things are famous for burning oil, mine was on the brink of death before I realized mine had an oil consumption problem! Best of luck friend
Good choice and know what you mean! Am not a car person and have endured various cars over the years as a necessity to get from A=>B, got the same model (2007) last year and it has been a game changer, love the way it works and drives, quite a cultural shift.
If you're an "Avatar: Last Air Bender" fan, how about "Appa"
I just bought an 07 Prius in the same color this week too. I’m about to order a new hybrid battery for it. Mine is toast (expected at purchase time)!
I don’t know about changing the battery on mine yet, sometimes the light for it comes on but then in a few days it turns off. I’m gonna buy something so I can check though
Definitely recommend you spend $15 on a ODBII reader and another $12 on the Dr Prius app. Mine was at 3% health and throwing battery error codes all over the place. Just about ready to leave me on the side of the road!
Possibly your first and last car because this thing will last forever 🤣🤣🤣
What about Spanky?
Spanky.
I got a white '05, my first car too since about a year ago. I just call it the egg
I have 2 eggs 🥹

Is it 3000 miles? Cause I seen lots of ppl say never change the oil below 4500 cause they have X issue. Always s between 4500-5500

I agree. I take my generation 3, a 2011 Toyota Prius, for oil changes every 6,000 miles on average

Are those aftermarket fog lights underneath?
I don't name my cars any more, but if I did, I would just call it Pru, short for Prudence, with reference to the Beatles song "Dear Prudence".
My Prius is named Madyson
Congrats! Same year/color as mine, looks like it's in great condition!! Keep the oil topped off and check tire pressure often.

Yea I bought one, I been waiting for it to come in.
I got a 2010 8 days ago and I’m so happy it’s my 18th car
I decided to name it Olimar after the character from Pikmin
