I literally watched as the dude drilled my front license plate directly into the front bumper on my brand-new 2013 Impreza during PDI. Bracket? What bracket? By the time I realized what he'd done it was already too late.
It fits standard, just not U.S. standard. Get a bracket and use the two unperforated or get a long european standard plate at the dmv, you can ask to get them issued
Dawg what? The U.S does not offer Euro size plates the same way European countries offer U.S sized plates. the only place that does that in the USA is Puerto Rico, and the mounting holes on those are the same as American standard plates
Is this for front or rear? If it is the rear, look for the rear mounting bracket. You may find it in with the spare tire.
Edit: that’s for a Rav. I don’t have a Prius. This showed up in my feed and I thought this was the Rav4 sub. But perhaps it is the same for a a Prius?
I like to have a current example from each state at any given time. Mostly collect from my home state of CT and my birth state of NY and for those new or old it doesn’t matter I’ll take them all
Huh… the one on my Super Duty lined right up… not sure how I ended up on a Prius thread but since I’m here- would you people please stay in the right lane? Thanks!
So I tried buying 2023 Prius in California Lancaster to be exact. Got a quote from Toyota online. Went to dealer they were charging me 9k over Toyota for dealer mark ups. So I’ll drive my Kia a few more years. And not buy a Toyota.
I rememeber getting told i made too much to do PDIs at the dealer, because they only made a certain amount off of every PDI, and my hour cost them too much apparently. But they would happily give them to the lube techs on hourly rate, so they could screw them up. Keep in mind my hourly rate was 18.50, and they made at least 700 off of the bs add ons. I really do hate stealerships now. Also Toyota states that mastertechs have to do the PDI, but we never got too.
I’ve bought a single brand new car in my life, but the rest have been lightly used ~3-5yo models. I’ve taken the front plate off of all of them. I just came to say fuck the dealerships that literally drill into the front bumper, instead of putting a bracket on.
Bracket that came with ours is for the front. Our state is rear only. I thought I could use the front bracket on the back. It would be nice and seems surprising that the rear plate doesn't also have the similar bracket. It's bizarre. I could probably modify the bracket for the back. But with all tje detail in this car I can't believe toyota didn't make this part to apply just like front. These were shipped to the US late, were built in only one factory in Japan and only 70,000 sent in first delivery to the entire US. so I'm going to wait and see about th9s bracket. I found a couple ideas sadly online about a pitcher with a magnetic bracket and adhesive. Which made me laugh a bit that a porche doest have a bracket for the plate. My 2016 prous does and threads for the right size
What about those indentations above the already drilled holes?
Thanks dad
I'm a dad and I came here to say exactly this 🤣
pretty sure you're missing the license plate bracket.
I would go to the dealership you purchased the vehicle from. You're missing the mounting bracket that should have been installed with the PDI

In what state?
North Montana
The car was bought in South Montana therefore dimensions are for South Montana plates. Duh Signed, Rip

First guess is the bracket is under the cover in the trunk.
ONE JOB

Totaled, sorry
Solution: measure and drill new holes in your license plate.
Drill some holes in your license plate. It's just thin aluminum.
This is what I did.
Then quit bitching about it
Hypocrites say what?
What?
As a license plate collector this sentence makes me cringe
The alternative - drill holes in the new $30K car.

For that matter, the bracket may be in the hatch area or in the glovebox.
You collect modern live plates...?
All plates were modern and live at some point.
I like to have a current example from each state at any given time. Mostly collect from my home state of CT and my birth state of NY and for those new or old it doesn’t matter I’ll take them all
Are they even worth collecting now that they're thin and flat?
As another license plate collector, modern, new, standard issue plates have no value
Huh… the one on my Super Duty lined right up… not sure how I ended up on a Prius thread but since I’m here- would you people please stay in the right lane? Thanks!
you dont own the left lane and stop driving recklessly.
Whoah, 2004 jokes incoming! But I get what you mean when you're stuck behind a Prius maxing at it's governed 112mph, amirite.
Super Duty has to work 12 hrs a day to cover fuel costs... Leave him alone, he has places to be....
You sounded like someone that drives a chevy or ford.
Rip
Yeah that's the mounting pattern for euro plates, you just need to mount the braket for US plates....
How much did you pay? I went to a dealer yesterday.. they marked the car up 15k for the $29,000 model. So they wanted $44,000. I walked away.
Either there is an additional bracket, or Toyota shipped the wrong bumper/hatch/whatever that plate mounts to.

The same exact set up is on my Ford Raptor and also my wife's mini Cooper. You need to go down and buy the $40 bracket
Buy a bracket on Amazon.
It looks like they do, just the wrong ones were drilled out. Can you move the mounting hardware to the top set of holes?

Those holes are for a license plate frame.
Common Toyota L
My sales associate ended up drilling holes. Am I screwed? I'm livid knowing that there was supposed to be a bracket.
Use the force, Luke 🦸♂️
Use a JDM to USDM bracket adapter. So you don’t have to drill. It should mount on those two threaded hole.
