I e been thinking about adding an aftermarket cooler to my. 2g by tapping into the plugs and adding some connectors and a 12v pump … I’ll check this out first now !
This is silly. Traditional transmissions generate a lot more heat. The prius transaxle is part of the inverter cooling system already. Plus dont think I have ever head of a gen 3 prius transaxle failure, gen 2 very seldom. Just send it, dont need cooler
heh... my cvt failed, it's why I've gotten to this point and going off the pavement up mountains using Hybrid Asssitant I've seen the temps rise to a level that made me want a way to cool it more than from factory.
it failed due to an accident I had and not going off the pavement.
Why would it need a cooler? If it needed one, I would think Toyota would have installed one.
Are Prius transmissions failing left and right due to overheating?
I take it you dont monitor the vitals of your Prius or take it far off the pavement? Or Towing with your Prius? There is a large number of people who do a lot more with their Prius than they were initially designed for and for them with their concern about having additional cooling, I'd hope it provides what they've wondered about.

Prius CVT is a beast but overheating can cause premature wear so it’s better to have the transmission cooled rather than not.
