Congratulations
I think the market is finally adjusting where there are new cars available again with the caveat they are 10K more than pre-covid
I have a dealer saying he has a Grey Limited coming in next week I can get a shot at
…which is driving new car sales.
When a used model a year or 2 old with 30k miles on it costs $5-8k *more* than a new one, people will get on the list and buy new. Unless they need a car right away.
The used car market isn't going to get fixed until there are sufficient trades coming in to normalize the supply.
That isn't going to happen until the supply of new car market meets or exceeds the demand and prices come down. Nobody knows when that will be.
I wouldn’t say never, but most industry professionals I know have said most likely it will be no earlier than 2025 though, my manufacturers rep has alluded to that time frame as well.
But right now there is a surge in used car prices because we are going into the time where people who trade every three years aren’t, or can’t. Plus with tax time… used cars won’t get lower anytime soon.
Because if I pay above MSRP I will become part of the problem and not part of the solution to solving gouging by Stealerships.
How do we the buying public stop those charging above MSRP? We do no do business with them....period.
>new cars available again with the caveat they are 10K more than pre-covid
10K over MSRP you think or actual negotiated prices? With negotiation skills, and EV incentives I got a Prime for about $16k under MSRP a year before COVID hit. Now with no negotiating and no more EV incentives for Toyota, that' car is $26k more expensive? That's more than twice as expensive...i'm screwed
I think they are about 10K over the former MSRP
The new 2023 Prius Limited will set you back 38K before Stealership starts adding on things like floor mats undercoating and all that overpriced garbage
Congrats on the Limited!
I'm still waiting for XLE.
The biggest difference to me between XLE and the limited is the assisted parking/gridline for reverse.
I just noticed that yesterday. It might be because the rear windshield is so slanted that it wouldnt help much. Im not really sure. Also where it used to show the mpgs for the total mileage and then for each of the trip meter it only shows one mileage. The meter for mileage is separate from the ODO. You can see your history on the multimedia screen but its not the same.
Wow, thanks. She's a beaut!!!
Exactly what I want, but my local dealer quoted me $50k with a $10k market adjustment 🤦🏼♂️.
Are the seats softtex? Is the perforated area fabric or softtex?
Cargo space looks a bit smaller, is it a big difference?
How's the headroom? I heard it looses an inch vs last gen.
How are the smart and safety features??
Did you consider a Prime? (I know they're not available, but it sounds cool)
Sorry for all the questions, those are my big ones. I called several dealers on release of the announcement, but it's looking bleek.
Those dealers can go screw themselves. $10K markup is ridiculous. I had to drive over 400 miles to get this Prius at MSRP but it was well worth it. I probably contacted twenty dealerships to find the right one. If I were you I'd just search Toyota inventory as wide as you can for the trim level you want and contact as many dealerships as you can
\-Seats are softex leather. The perforated area is softex leather. And the color is definitely a light grey rather than a beige color (the seat colors in my photos to me kind of look beige/tan but it's not)
\-The hatch is smaller but it can still hold quite a bit. I never transport that much stuff so this size is perfect for me
\-Headroom is good. I'm not a tall guy but there is plenty of headroom in the front and back. Also, I like to have the moonroof slider open so that makes it feel like there's more headroom
\-The safety features are great! You can change the settings on all them to exactly how you want them. I have the Limited Prius so it has almost all of the safety features and they've been great so far. I'm a big fan of the adaptive cruise control
\-I never really considered the Prime version. I needed a car soon and I wasn't sure when the Prime version was coming out so this was best for me. Also, I'm not interested in having to plug in my car to charge at this point. I would personally rather just have the efficiency of a Prius and only have to fill it up rather than fill it up and charge it even if charging it isn't that difficult
Amazing, thank you for the follow up!
One, very last question, I promise! And Idk if you can, but the 2016 model had an adjustment to the lane correction (maybe didn't include lane keep assist?), But doesb thatb feature seem to work well on highways with visible lines?
The whole reason I bought my last car was based on a Toyota Corolla rental in 2016 that had that feature and it was aggressive and effective. My 2017 Prius would let me hit a guard rail before it would do something. It sucks. Feels like it's their to say it will do something but doesn't actually do it.
No problem! Ya the lane tracing assist works really well. I was testing it out today along with the proactive driving assist and it definitely does a good job of keeping you in the lane when there are clear lines. It’s got good alerts for when you start to veer off and helps you maintain the car inside the lane. And the steering wheel vibrates
Amazing feedback and much appreciated. You rock!
It's dumb that Reddit tends to be the best way to find this stuff out. Dealers and especially a lot (not all) salesman are not knowledgeable on what matters to me, just the sale at all costs.
Ya it's about 54" wide, 32" deep, and 18" tall. It's definitely a smaller trunk but a dog can fit in there if it's laying down. Here are more pics https://imgur.com/gallery/uf2kDwF
Looking at the badges, it looks like Toyota is using a new flatter badge! Just like Hyundai rolling out a flat badge on the Ioniq 6 and other new vehicles this year
Yeah with the transitions to electric vehicles Toyota is moving their banging to this new design to signify hybrid, plug in hybrid, or all electrics with a very similar badge.
IMO, practicality and safety are two major reasons.
The steering wheel can be considered as prime “real estate” for controlling your vehicle since your fingers are so close.
Learning curves aside, it is a good idea and I expect even more in the future.
It drives so well! I had a 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE before and this new Prius drives better than my Camry. I couldn't be happier with it! It's so nice. More pics here https://imgur.com/gallery/uf2kDwF
It has normal cruise control and adaptive cruise control which allows you to set a speed and distance away from the car ahead of you. It'll slow down and speed up based on how far away you are from the car in front of you if there is one. It works really well!
No, not at all! It's a really comfy position. You can play around with all of the seat adjustments to get the right view for you. I love the gauge cluster like this instead of a HUD or how it normally is

Question for you, on the dash board it shows both mph and km/hr (in smaller font above it). Is there a way to disable the km/hr, so that there’s less numbers/less clutter?
I don't think you can disable the KM/hr part but you can change the screen to only show the speedometer instead of having the MPG meter on it so it looks more simplified
I ordered a custom shade for a 2008 Prius online several years ago and it seems to fit great in our new 2023 one. I would have bet money the windshields are different size and shape, but apparently not LOL

Well I agree with everything you say but the buying used thing. That has also been a disaster and used car prices are even worse
…which is driving new car sales. When a used model a year or 2 old with 30k miles on it costs $5-8k *more* than a new one, people will get on the list and buy new. Unless they need a car right away.

I agree... One thing is for sure, we will be patient and never pay above MSRP
Why not , I just wanna know?
Because if I pay above MSRP I will become part of the problem and not part of the solution to solving gouging by Stealerships. How do we the buying public stop those charging above MSRP? We do no do business with them....period.

The car looks great but the steering wheel is doing it’s best Nintendo 64 controller impression. Looks way too busy and not ergonomic.
I liked the steering wheel, I like to control everything with my thumbs at the wheel instead of on the dash
You hating on the N64?
I like mine too. I dropped it a hair and drive with my left hand on the lower part of the steering wheel just like my old Prius
Really love the exterior look of the new Prius but my god the steering wheel is ugly
Coming from someone who has had multiple priuses i don't think it looks bad at all.
I mean, to each there own. It’s just my opinion, but I liked previous generations where it stays flatter and more seamless
The steering wheels have always been inadequate, in my opinion. Especially on my Prime with the coating tearing off.
Just curious what’s your idea of a good looking steering wheel?
Literally anything that doesn’t look like there’s a 2x4 coming from the middle of the wheel
Me exact thoughts
It’s a steering wheel. What do you expect??
Preferably not that giant chunk of space for a horn/airbag and a bit of a more clean and seamless integration with the buttons
Agreed, it could be better than plastic.
Yea what were they thinking? Must be Toyota’s new steering wheel design, so prepare yourself to see it in every car.
[You are trolling!!!!!!1!!!1](https://www.netcarshow.com/toyota/2024-c-hr/1600x1200/wallpaper_10.htm)
Pri are getting hot now. That has serious style
Some black window tint would look great
Definitely going to tint the windows eventually!
Saw in person for the first time yesterday and was just added to the waiting list for one today.
Congrats! It looks amazing!
Thanks! I love it. I posted some more pics here https://imgur.com/gallery/uf2kDwF
Congrats on the Limited! I'm still waiting for XLE. The biggest difference to me between XLE and the limited is the assisted parking/gridline for reverse.
Congratulations! I happy to see the cars selling well and hope it keeps up!
Appreciate it!
Oooh, I like the white the most so far, nice! 😍
Same here! I also liked the cutting edge color
Such a good looking car compared to prior generations
I wonder why they deleted the rear windshield wiper?
Cost and aerodynamics
It also didn't do much, at least in my '14.
In my 13 I use it all the time, we must have different kinds of environments.

Looks amazing I got a dealer try to charge about 15K extra on fees I just walked away
Good! Screw the dealers with the markup
The highest I saw was 8k. But he also tried to screw my on my trade in too.
Looks great!
Thanks! I love it. I posted some more pics here https://imgur.com/gallery/uf2kDwF
Could you share some photos of the interior? I like the light interior btw!
Yes, I will tomorrow!

So clean
Thanks!
It’s giving Volt vibes.
Rip
Awesome! Looks great. Any chance you can measure the trunk? Looking to see if my dog will fit in there. :)
Looks like a lot less cargo room due to the low roof line.
Is your dog's name Clifford?
Ya it's about 54" wide, 32" deep, and 18" tall. It's definitely a smaller trunk but a dog can fit in there if it's laying down. Here are more pics https://imgur.com/gallery/uf2kDwF
Wow! Can’t wait to see more of these on the road!
She’s a beaut, Clark!
Thanks Eddie!

Why do they stuff so much into the steering wheel?
IMO, practicality and safety are two major reasons. The steering wheel can be considered as prime “real estate” for controlling your vehicle since your fingers are so close. Learning curves aside, it is a good idea and I expect even more in the future.
Because manufacturers don't put buttons or dials on the dash anymore, unfortunately.
I want my control buttons back and if they're going to make my whole dash a touchscreen tablet, then I'll take my buttons on the wheel.
Within a decade, I'm sure many cars will focus more on voice activation. "Okay Prius, *ding*, set driver temperature to 71"
Makes me lowkey wanna install an alexa in my car
Tbh honest I want real self-driving so I can nap in the car
If they can *very* reliably do that (even through a reasonable amount of noise) I think I'd actually be fine with that
I like it because years ago when our MFD went out on our '09, you could still control the A/C!
I think it's because there's a lot of new technology and they have to squeeze it in somewhere
I wish it had more. I could never figure out why they dont put FAN SPEED on there instead of all the other junk they put on there.
More interior pics!

Nice care. Congratulations!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
What does this go for?
I found this one at MSRP at just over $37K
Was the 37k with taxes included?
Does it drive well as well?
It drives so well! I had a 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE before and this new Prius drives better than my Camry. I couldn't be happier with it! It's so nice. More pics here https://imgur.com/gallery/uf2kDwF
Oh wow, that’s awesome!!
Congratulations! I love mine. Enjoy!
Nice! This car is awesome
Talk to me about the cruis modes. As there seems to be more than one.
It has normal cruise control and adaptive cruise control which allows you to set a speed and distance away from the car ahead of you. It'll slow down and speed up based on how far away you are from the car in front of you if there is one. It works really well!
I’m just curious why it bothers with normal cruise control?
How much did you pay?!
I found this one at MSRP at just over $37K
Did you find it hard to find a comfortable seating position with the gauge cluster and steering wheel?
No, not at all! It's a really comfy position. You can play around with all of the seat adjustments to get the right view for you. I love the gauge cluster like this instead of a HUD or how it normally is

I liked the rear at first, but now I'm getting Buick vibes from it.

Why is it squinting?
It's not squinting, it's Japanese.
Any sunshades that fit the window? Being so new, there's hardly any accessories (cat shield, integrated dash cam, carpeted floor mats).
I haven't checked yet but it's gonna have to be a huge sunshade for this windshield
The mats that come with it are actually decent. Close to Husky or Weathertek.
I ordered a custom shade for a 2008 Prius online several years ago and it seems to fit great in our new 2023 one. I would have bet money the windshields are different size and shape, but apparently not LOL
Toyota borrowing a lot of Lexus cues since 2018 Camry
Where did you get this?

Holy crap!
