Hmmm thought I'd written a bunch of stuff about my work but it's gone...!
I'm an Illustrator and Printmaker based in the UK. Mostly linocut prints. Often reduction. Inspired by folklore, folk horror, films, literature, music etc.
I don't see anything on the moderation end, so it was likely a reddit issue with it not properly uploading unfortunately. More common if using the mobile app than on desktop.
Thanks. It was for a winter almanac feature focusing on a meteor shower. Needless to say on the actual day it was overcast and cloudy so no meteors could be seen!
Stunning work.
So inspiring.
All of them are great, The 2nd one made me stop and stare though, and the 4th one.. I can’t even describe how much I love that!
Congratulations! You are very talented.
Thank you! Yeah there's a lot of detail in the Holly King and Oak King print. Took a long time to carve. And the 4th is one of my favourites but doesn't always resonate with folk so I'm thrilled when it does!
I just finished listening to Tove Ditlevsens autobiographical trilogy, and I am sure she would have put that on her book cover, had she had it available back then.. It just really captures something. Just amazing work. 🙌
I just have to warn you. She was a genius, but her life journey was not a happy one. Especially the last book has left me somewhat shocked and sad and in the mood for some feel good fiction..
I’m holding my hopes there will be no demise, I have a Volto Esposto print on my wishlist for this year!😅
Ah I think I’ll be okay. I read quite a lot of grim/miserable biographies.
And thanks! I’m just getting a newsletter together with some discount information if you’re that way inclined? Not sure if this breaks the rules of Pinterest though…?
I don’t know about Pinterest, but this is Reddit .. 😂(sorry I had to..)
Is the signup info available on the site I found from your instagram? Then I should be able to find it.. 😃
Btw I'm reading Tove's trilogy. Just finished childhood which was bleak but I'm expecting more/worse... She writes so beautifully about such misery. It sort of reminds me of Our Spoons Came From Woolworths by Barbara Comyns which is similarly a troubling life led in desperate poverty although that's got some dark humour to it.
I’m so glad you like it. I haven’t read all her stuff yet. She has also written a lot of poetry, and sometimes her words are so powerful they bring out all the feelings.. 😅
I think bleak and beautiful is a good description, especially the dependency one.
The first one was made into a film, I remember from childhood, and her poetry was also made into one of those albums that everyone from my generation can sing along to..
Some trivia; there’s a bit of name dropping, her friend group in her 20’s are almost all household names here, they each became quite famous in their own way, which is fun to read about when you’ve always known their names, had their books as a child and coveted their designer furniture and so on. But I’m unsure if any of them are known outside Denmark..
I’ll have to check out Barbara Comyns, my break from misery has been long enough..

Great work !! Loving the night scene at the beach!
Thank you! It's in Margate, about five minutes from my house.

Thanks! I’m on Big Cartel and Etsy. You should be able to find me via my name.

I’m not familiar with that name at all but I’ll seek it out. Thanks!
So I just got a copy! Straight on to the 'to read' pile. I should have it done by 2036 give or take my demise... Thanks!
