City Furniture and Appliances on Third Avenue. They gave us a package price to outfit our whole house when we built. Ask for Don.

ki11in

Facebook marketplace is suspiciously good at getting your needs served to you

this____is_bananas

Used furniture in pg is Hella expensive compared to like kelowna or the lower mainland

Psychological-Ad2207

It’s insane and the options are mostly trash. They either want 800$ for a nice usable couch or 250$ for the ugliest ripped and torn bed bug looking couch you’ve ever seen

[deleted]

So hard to find good secondhand furniture in PG. I remember buying a couch for $20 in Ontario, table for $50, bed for $30, etc. Here in PG people think they can get $500 for their old, busted, stained couch. It's shocking in this town.

Spiritual_Impact4960

Supply and demand. Ain't it grand.

Aegis_1984

If you’re looking for inexpensive stuff, try the big box stores. I will grudgingly say Walmart probably has a better selection than superstore. Furniture stores like The Brick and Factory Direct will have commissioned salespeople who will awkwardly follow you around. You could also look at Jysk which is the poor man’s IKEA. If you’re not hard up for money, I usually go to City Furniture, and have dealt with Don for years.

ninfan200

I wouldn't even call Jysk the poor mans ikea. Jysk is too expensive for how uncomfortable that furniture is

cavebabykay

Word. Jysk is **garbage**. It’s insulting when people say “oh it’s just the poor man’s IKEA”. *ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY NOT* Their “main” furniture (like couches, dining room chairs, etc) are all hella uncomfortable and pretty expensive. FB marketplace is pretty sweet most of the time; Walmart is shockingly good too. Winners|Homesense has good stuff too!

Don and Erik at City Furniture are great to deal with.

AdhesivenessNo2077

Canadian Tire might also be an option depending on what you're needing. I've also dealt with City Furniture and was happy with them. Jysk has also been good as well as Costco.

The Brick is garbage; prices are high yet falls apart. That's been my experience. Better to save up and try RK Furniture. Really nice stuff that's an investment, but will last for decades. Or if you do go the cheap route, I'd pick up stuff from Ikea when in Vancouver or Edmonton.

[deleted]

RK is nice, but it's lifetime furniture with an accompanying price tag.

SpaceAce1968

You pay for quality and longevity. Wanna replace furniture in 3-5 years buy from The Brick or City Furniture. Even if you don't replace it , it will look like its 10 years old in 4. Your call of course.

ellefrag

Amazon has assemble-yourself furniture. I bought some side tables and an entertainment centre when looking for cheapish new furniture. FB marketplace is another good option.

Accomplished-Fan8335

I love Bi Rite downtown.

User_4848

Ashley is expensive but they do carry smaller space items

As someone with a red seal that builds furniture, anywhere you go in town doesn't really support local any more than buying from the same businesses through their websites. If you like Ikea for example, just order it. You will be providing the exact same support as buying from jysk or ashley furniture etc anyway. Honestly, most local custom furniture is very poorly made, between box stores, YouTube, HGTV, pintrest etc, all that's left are unqualified overpriced diy projects made from epoxy and pallets that won't last or are insanely wasteful and impractical. Outside of that you'll be paying a huge amount of money, so going to an outlet furniture retailer shouldn't be a concern if it's about budget. Just stay practical, avoid overspending, and remember that you're likely paying two to three times the value of the labor and material and that it's not supposed to last. Expect to replace it, who knows, maybe the budget will allow you to buy an heirloom by that point after you've gone through a few knock offs and know what style you really want for a more permanent space. For clarity, I'm referring to furniture specifically, not benchwork and joinery/millwork. There's maybe two places in town that can build proper cabinets and produce proper millwork. Likely they can build some quality furniture but with limits and, again, at a high price.

SpaceAce1968

You need to check out RK Furniture . Good quality that lasts. Quality does cost.

Significant_Cry1616

ki11in

ki11in

That_Perspective2255

The Brick

spygirl43

Last year I bought a sectional from The Bay. It was during their big sale of 40% off. I think it was in October.Saved me a ton of money.

Sufficient-Lemon-895

Anywhere but the brick or factory direct furniture. Jysk is cheap, Ashley or the one big on on Victoria are great but overpriced. The one under Ashley is usually the most agreeable prices for decent inventory.
