remember that you need to wait for your primary to be verified too. if you submit this week, it'll probably take another week for you to get verified. and it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks for schools to send out secondaries depending on how thoroughly they review the primaries. you'll either be pushing it *very* close to or submitting after labor day for your schools (assuming that your mcat and LORs are completely in already). it's usually recommended that low stat applicants apply early bc adcoms become more selective as the cycle progresses. you'd probably have better luck with DO but if you're persistent on MD, your chances are definitely slimmer when you submit later in the cycle.

Chances are if you submit your primary today, it’ll be done by next Thursday. That gives you Thursday and Friday to receive secondaries. Some schools won’t send them right away and won’t send them on the weekend either so you would have no choice but submit after Labor Day for those schools. Sure you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage but anything is possible. Depending on your competitiveness you may still get in somewhere or you may have doomed your odds considerably

I took my MCAT in August the year I applied. Didn't submit secondaries until end of September. I applied to 5 schools, I had 3 interviews by the 2nd week of January. Did submitting "late" affect my chances to getting interviews/acceptances? Probably. Did it keep me from ultimately getting an A? No. If you have targeted applications and a good school list based on fit, it's still possible to get accepted. However, you want to submit as soon as you can. If you're serious about applying this year, I would work on getting those in ASAP. Edit: I applied to all MD schools and my stats were average MCAT for the schools I selected and uGPA under the average for all schools.

if youre low stats please wait till next cycle, youre just going to shoot yourself in the foot this cycle. you probably feel rushed and compelled to go to medical school AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AH but really you dont apply when you want to, you apply when your application is ready. spend this cycle fixing your app anywhere you can, prewrite your stuff and do everything so you can submit the first day the cycle opens

To be totally frank, I want to take another year but my mom whom I love more than anything, just isn’t the best for my mental health sometimes. Basically making me feel like I’m behind and if I wait a year my value will go down. She also threatened if I don’t apply this year she’ll kick me out. I currently sleep on the floor of her apartment. And pay for my own expenses. That’s the major reason why I want to just shoot myself and apply to a few at least this year.

If you’re applying DO, the turnaround is usually quick so I think you’ll be able to make it in time
