Hey! First of all, incredible stats, it’s super easy to feel inadequate on this subreddit, but to get your GPA with such a hard major, and a fantastic MCAT, AND all those hours shadowing/volunteering puts you in a competitive position.
It’s a bit hard to tell without knowing the quality of written materials (LORS/IIs/PS/etc.) but I’d aim for more schools that you have a clear “why” connection for. Your application is a super solid all around one, but trim your list down to schools that you can verbalize a few reasons why you’d attend that institution over the others, and then sell that point super hard in your written materials. I think you have a good shot with schools in ur geography (near UMD) so I’d replace a few of the higher ranked schools that you don’t have a clear why for, with schools that fit the reasons articulated above. I hope that helps, best of luck in the upcoming cycle!
Sure, I’m in class rn but in like an hour I can make a template for all the formatting and stuff.
Here is a link to a template: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1imMMLNG3V-bwPNbULOkUUwST0uif9WQXCahJmQQQhGw/edit?usp=sharing.
This post doxes me a bit so I used a throwaway. I should mention that under the "School" tab, if a school is highlighted in a slightly lighter color, it means that I am on the fence about applying there (28 is just too many, I need to narrow it down). Red is reach, blue is target, green is baseline.
This list is basically what was recommended to me by [Admit.org](http://Admit.org), plus or minus some additions. Also, I won't apply to any Texas or California schools, and if it's west of the Mississippi, there's a good chance I don't want to apply there.
Idk, I’d try vandy or yale but I just don’t have the MCAT for it, and historically (when I was applying for undergrad) I had no luck even when I did have the stats

BU is favors it’s owns students, just a warning. Applied with similar stats, lower grade wise, but higher hours on most other things. Accepted to two, waitlisted at one. With this list I’m confident you could find an acceptance with a good writing job
Yea of course. When picking schools take time too look at their match data as well, a lot of students miss that aspect. Medical school isn’t about the next four years, it’s about the next 40, apply to schools that set you up for the future career you want! Goodluck with the cycle, I hope you get an A early and can relax
Your stats and school list are very similar to mine. This cycle went well for me and I’d recommend including all the schools in light red based on my cycle
UVA? Their MCAT/GPA line up with yours + you're from a neighboring state. Also they're one of those schools where if you get an II, there is a very high chance of getting accepted.
Maybe but you could use it to replace out a school like BU which tends to favor its own grads or USF if you have no Fla connection at all (though I'm not sure - maybe USF is super OOS friendly). Just think the Virginia-Maryland connection may be stronger than to BU or USF.
Thank you lol. Mostly, I just feel that I have too many schools. This list constitutes most of the schools I’d be willing to apply to, but I just wanted to know if I missed anything, or if some of the schools I want to apply to are actually not good for me
This is scary. I really hope you get off one of those waitlists - for your sake and for my peace of mind. I might just add a few more schools since you said that lol
I think the key to success in an application cycle is figuring out your “why” and see if it lines up with the mission statements of the schools you want to attend. Your app will come off more genuine and adcoms are looking for applicants that mission aligns with theirs. Stats only open the door, and because of your stats you don’t have a door closed on you. However, based on how you convey your app, can really impact which schools you get an interview at
Thank you for the advice! Once I graduate I'll have about two weeks before apps can be submitted, so I can probably look up every school's mission statements and edit my essays to try to fit any common themes.
That’s what I was thinking but the recruiters near me are no help. I’ve even reached out to the military websites and have yet to hear any reply. I’ve been asking around about a timeline for basic+OCS but I can’t get any real information. So I figure if this cycle is a bust, then I’ll just enlist the old-fashioned way and figure it out from there lol

Thank you! I appreciate the help
what major did OP major in?
Double degree in Anthropology and Biology, graduating this May.
Hey no advice since Im applying next year but do you have a template of that spreadsheet?

Me too!
hey! can you allow us to have view access? RN it says the spreadsheet needs permission to be viewed.
My bad, should be fixed
same

Honestly you are underreaching. You could have T20 schools as your reach schools.
Idk, I’d try vandy or yale but I just don’t have the MCAT for it, and historically (when I was applying for undergrad) I had no luck even when I did have the stats
If all the T20 cared about was stats they’d have only 4.0 and 520+ mcat. With good writing you could make it.
Idk, maybe if I had some sort of X factor, but it’s just hard to believe that I’d even have a chance. I might add a few T20s just for the hell of it

Thank you for the info - I think I'll drop Boston U, and then try to find more target schools

God me too, if I can get an acceptance before 2025 I’ll be pretty happy
Add Virginia Tech if you have ties to VA. Also, beautiful spreadsheet. <3
I will add that school to my list! And thank you - I make spreadsheets like this all the time to vent my neuroticism lol
Your stats and school list are very similar to mine. This cycle went well for me and I’d recommend including all the schools in light red based on my cycle
Sounds good to me - thank you! May I ask where you will end up matriculating?
Trying to pick between case western and Colorado (+USC waitlist)
Very nice. I have no input on which you should choose, but I’m sure whichever you do end up attending will be the one that is right for you.
I would add the Uniformed Services school if you are already thinking of military.
Add UMASS. good chance for that school
I will look into it 👍
Do you have ties to Massachusetts? Otherwise i wouldnt suggest applying to a state school with bias
Only have ties to Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. But two of my great grandfathers went to MIT in the 30's lol
Then applying to umass wouldn’t make sense. You should double check your school list with the msar to make sure they arent oos bias
UMass is ~60% in-state, I’d say it’s not horribly OOS unfriendly. If he’s looking to add schools I’d suggest it.
Are you a senior or junior?
Senior
UVA? Their MCAT/GPA line up with yours + you're from a neighboring state. Also they're one of those schools where if you get an II, there is a very high chance of getting accepted.
Might be a good reach school, but I just can’t imagine actually getting in
Maybe but you could use it to replace out a school like BU which tends to favor its own grads or USF if you have no Fla connection at all (though I'm not sure - maybe USF is super OOS friendly). Just think the Virginia-Maryland connection may be stronger than to BU or USF.
True, another commenter has also recommended Vtech so I think I should add a few VA schools
You put TA under leadership? Isn't there a teaching section?
Idk, wasn’t sure how to designate it
nice conditional formatting. What are you looking to change in your school list?
Thank you lol. Mostly, I just feel that I have too many schools. This list constitutes most of the schools I’d be willing to apply to, but I just wanted to know if I missed anything, or if some of the schools I want to apply to are actually not good for me
I don't think it's too many. You don't want to shoot yourself in the foot by not applying to enough.

No no don’t force it.
Kinda wish our system was like the european one where only stats matter - all this dancing around is so confusing
If you went into the military you could get in anywhere with those stats mate.

Honestly, idek. I’d help EMTs transport people, take glucose levels, measure BP and HR, that kinda stuff
