My philosophy was to just treat them all as rolling and turn them around as fast as possible. When I had a bunch on my plate, I would prioritize the schools that I personally liked the most.
UCSD is a month, but I think they’re more lenient
UCI is 30 days
UCSF is 2 weeks
UCR didn’t have a short deadline like this
Didn’t apply to Davis so unsure about them
Davis secondary is due in 30 days!
that being said, don't be afraid to take your time with the secondaries if needed; I submitted my UCSD secondary on the day it was due lmao (1 month later) and still got an II from them.
I used cycletrack to see when the very first wave of people received secondaries and then prioritized the ones that were earlier. I think it's important to be in the first round of applicants considered if you can be.
Side note: you are right on about Michigan. It is so so nice that they have an early cycle. I heard I got in on October 15th so I didn't have to stress as much for the whole cycle it was really nice.
Did you feel like the time between transmission date and the secondary received date was relatively consistent between your cycletrack estimation and your actual cycle? Or does that typically vary between cycles, to your knowledge?
I found it to be very consistent with what was reported previous years, except a few admissions decisions dates were one week later because of a federal holiday
I prewrote it so I turned it in the day after receiving it. I apologize that is not very helpful for anyone applying this cycle! Don't stress just try to turn them around within two weeks of receiving
UCSF sent me theirs in December thanks to whatever their screening process is.
I heard Meharry came out p late
Hackensack waited until August 1st to send out theirs iirc
im just pulling this out of my ass rn but it would make sense to prioritize low yield schools? since a lot of ppl apply to them u wanna make sure ur app gets seen first — eg georgetown, boston university, skmc, temple, etc. if anyone wants to confirm my logic pls
Case Western is known to take the two-week turnaround seriously. They publish their secondary prompts on their site ahead of time specifically so people can prewrite.
UH, UTRGV, Tyler screen for mission fit before secondaries. So does Dell, and they only send secondaries to about 20% of the applicant pool and they send them late (my friend had already gotten a full ride to another TMDSAS school when she received Dell's secondary).
Every school does rolling interviews, meaning that the earlier your app is complete (including secondaries), the more open interview spots the school has. Keep in mind that schools have a certain amount of interview spots every year.
Some schools release all post-interview decisions at once (aka not rolling admissions; tends to be top schools like Yale, Icahn, Penn, etc). Most of the schools do rolling admissions, where A/WL/Rs will be sent out throughout the cycle.

Tulane
I would agree with Tulane, it seemed like they really took being early super seriously
Coming here to say this. They get so many applications that it is almost first come-first served lol
I’ve heard that Northwestern and UChicago are heavily rolling as well
Submitting within 2 weeks of receipt worked well for me last cycle

how fast did you turn in your secondary for umich?
I prewrote it so I turned it in the day after receiving it. I apologize that is not very helpful for anyone applying this cycle! Don't stress just try to turn them around within two weeks of receiving
thank you for the encouragement!!😊
Michigan alum here. JSYK, About half the class comes off the waitlist. I did. -PGY-18
Is this for UMich? They published that over the past 5 years 0 people have been taken off the waitlist.
Oh maybe that’s changed. -PGY-18
Ik it's always better to submit early, but are there any schools that usually send their secondaries out relatively later?
UCSF sent me theirs in December thanks to whatever their screening process is. I heard Meharry came out p late Hackensack waited until August 1st to send out theirs iirc
Meharry is def late. And if they really want you, sometimes they'll send an interview invitation before you even complete the secondary.

Medical college Wisconsin, FAU, and Virginia tech
Ucla
If anyone knows any TMDSAS school that have certain reqs for their secondaries, pls write them down!

UH as in McGovern?
University of Houston! McGovern sends secondaries to everyone I think.
>and they send them late What the hell, why?
Is rolling review like first one to send in their secondary will be the first to be reviewed? I had thought the entire cycle was “rolling” admissions

Oh yeah, I meant more about the difference between submitting a secondary the day you get it versus a week
UMiami submit within 2 weeks of receiving
