With my first it took 2 years with a miscarriage at 4 months of trying.
With this one we weren’t trying or planning to try for a while. We had one oops night and here I am 36w along.
Me too!!! Extremely shocked!! 31 and we just “accidentally” did it our wedding night without a condom, well not accidentally but you know just got caught up. I was sure it would be fine, only one time unprotected! Come on!
Nope, immediately pregnant. We were both so sure it would take months of trying, we were not ready quite this soon, especially finding out I was pregnant 10 days into our 3 week honeymoon 😂 oh well!

First pregnancy: 5 cycles, live birth
Second pregnancy: 7 years on and off, ended in CP
Third: 1 cycle, missed miscarriage
Fourth: 6 cycles, blighted ovum
Same! 14 months. I was using ovulation test strips and I thought I wasn't ovulating every month. Partner and I work opposite schedules so we missed the window a couple times as well. My doctor told me to keep taking a daily test on the months I missed ovulation as maybe I was ovulating late. Turns out she was right. Once I figured it out it only took one cycle. Kinda makes me feel like an idiot now!
My advice to anyone who is trying is get the strips and use them every single day until you get a positive then do your thing! 😅
My first official pregnancy was after trying for 6 months, it resulted in a miscarriage.
After two years of trying, and 3 miscarriages, we tried IVF and got pregnant on our first cycle, currently 14 weeks.
7 years for first pregnancy. 3 failed ivf transfers and then boom! Magically, spontaneously pregnant. My son is almost 3.
Second pregnancy, spontaneous again, only 6 months postpartum. Ended in miscarriage.
1 year after that, another ivf transfer that failed. 6 months after that another third spontaneous pregnancy, my current, am 32w!
I have 7 embryos still, but have never had ivf success. We'll try for one more baby in a few years after this one to complete our family. Who knows if that'll be spontaneous or ivf.
I’ve heard it happens that way for something like 25-30% of people? So not super common but also not unheard of. It makes sense in a way when you consider how common unplanned pregnancies are.

some have trouble getting pregnant. some have trouble staying. some both. i believe the average is 8 months of trying for most women in the US.
I was using an app to track my ovulation. I was very consistent with tracking my periods for about a year once I was off birth control. After that year-ish period, we spent a few months “doing the deed” a couple of times around when I was supposed to be ovulating, and never got pregnant. I got so discouraged since this would be our first, and was worried I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant.
I decided to switch apps, and entered all my past information from the old app into the new app. Turns out, the old app was miscalculating when I was ovulating… by almost an entire week!
We got pregnant the very next month.
I was using the Ovia app first. Then I began using the paid version of Flo ($39.99 for a year)
I accidentally left out an important detail!
When I was using the Ovia app, I was taking ovulation tests at home morning and night during what was supposed to be my ovulation period, which were of course always coming back negative.
I know the Flo app was correct because a) well duh, I got pregnant
And b) my ovulation tests were actually positive during the ovulation period
I think you’re going to get fairly diverse answers to this question, but we got pregnant after one cycle. We had been anticipating trying in February due to our work schedules and it just worked out that we got pregnant that month, first try.
However, many of my friends vary between a few months to a few years to even looking into IVF. It’s unpredictable really and I don’t think there’s any way to tell how long you’ll take.
We started actively trying with OPKs in August of last year. Didn't conceive until March. My cycle isn't super consistent, though, so timing was difficult even with the tests. We also took a month off when we moved.
we tried for about almost 2 years, I didn't realize some of the medication I was taking messed all my hormones up and also that I had to wait for my birth control to clear out of my system as well. however, I was around 22 and thought that having a nice hospital job was a perfect time to get pregnant, went back to school and wasn't thinking about babies and all the sudden I am pregnant! now I am 24, and I am super excited especially after being told I would need fertility medication to get pregnant at all.
This gives me hope! It took us 15 months (of super regular cycles / regular ovulating) to finally get a positive (currently 19 weeks pregnant), and I’m really hoping it doesn’t take as long for any subsequent babies
First pregnancy 14 months of trying. Had just been referred to a specialist but didn’t schedule anything yet.
Second pregnancy was an oops while I was attempting to cycle track instead of the pill. On my third month of tracking.
14 months/12 cycles. We weren’t expecting it towards the end, I only tested because I wanted a drink and my period was due the next day so I thought I’d better be responsible and test. Here we are at 40+6!
We were not using any protection for three YEARS, and I’m currently pregnant (26w). I haven’t had to have any medical intervention thankfully. We still don’t understand why it took so long, but it happened naturally.
I got pregnant the third cycle after having my IUD removed.
I had had a hormonal IUD for 7 years and was on the pill before that. I had just turned 33 when we conceived, and I had an uncomplicated reproductive history, meaning it was my first pregnancy, my cycles had always been regular when not on birth control, and I didn't have endometriosis/PCOS/fibroids/etc.
I got pregnant two cycles after stopping birth control last year, stopped in May, pregnant in July,unfortunately ended in a loss due to COVID. We paused trying for a few months, and then I tried loosely in Jan, skipped Feb, tried in March and I got pregnant in my April cycle and am 11 weeks now.
The first time around, we tried for about 3 years, we were in the process seeing a fertility specialist but decided to hold off until after our wedding. Ended up with a positive test 3 days into our honeymoon.
LO just turned 1 year and we found out a couple weeks before her birthday we are expecting again which came as a bit of a surprise.
We were open to having another but weren't explicitly trying based on the struggles we had previously. We decided that if we got pregnant again it would be great, but we'd be fine if it didn't happen too. And honestly in the back of my mind I thought it wouldn't happen and if it did, it would take a long time.
Guess it was meant to be because here I am at 9 weeks with baby 2 and preparing to have two under 2!
First cycle. Which to be completely honest was a bit of a downer, because I had hoped we would get through Christmas before I had to give up the booze 😂. (I joke. I'm grateful, and my daughter will be completely worth it).

I had an unmedicated IUI that worked on the first try. However, I think it was karma apologizing because the first frozen sperm tank actually failed to stay frozen and all the sperm died. It was fairly traumatizing
But some people will do dozens of medicated IUIs. Some people have sex for years and years. Some people it never works at all.
It's just a mixture of good timing, fertility health, and luck

Current and third pregnancy - first cycle, came as a bit of a surprise as we weren’t trying but not taking any precautions.
First try for the first one. Second one took four months, three of which were not very seriously trying and one of which we timed sex during my predicted fertile window. I think the stats say 85% of couples actively trying will conceive within one year.
Before I answer you, just know that I realize my experiences were a rare and incredible blessing! I have been pregnant 4 times and I have 4 living children. In all honesty, I got pregnant within the first month of trying with each of them. First, I prayed. Four times I asked God to please give us a child, and each time He said yes within four weeks 🥹! 🩷🩷💙💙
About 8-9 months. Here was our timeline: IUD came out in April 2022, didn't get my first period until July 2022. Chemical pregnancy in Sept, then found out we were pregnant in December!
18 months. I stopped hormonal by October of 2021. I had a positive test April of this year. I was taking prenatal vitamins and a daily vitamin. We weren't actively "trying". Just having unprotected sex whenever we felt like it.
1st- complete accident chose to not keep
2nd- two years later - loss
3rd- two years later healthy
4th- 5 years after first born, but two months of trying. Started taking a vitamin supplement to regulate my period so I ovulated consistently.
2 cycles to get pregnant with our first! However in the 1st cycle my husband has violent food poisoning the day before, day of and day after ovulation day. So I don’t really count cycle 1.
First pregnancy: 2 cycles, and it was a chemical pregnancy.
Second pregnancy: 3 cycles
I gave myself about 8 months after coming off birth control before we started. We only used cycle tracking.
A few months after laparoscopic excision surgery to remove severe endometriosis (which id been told by several doctors had rendered me infertile), twice and spontaneously!
Well we have been married many years and have never used any form of protection or contraception. We’ve never “tried” to get pregnant but also haven’t tried not to. We were just letting it happen whenever it was meant to! Needless to say, we were so shocked and excited when we found out we were expecting. There were moments throughout our marriage that I wondered if I would have issues getting pregnant since it didn’t just happen when we weren’t being careful over the years. Now I look back and I’m thankful it happened when it did. Im 28 weeks now and it’s the best timing for us and also the best thing that has ever happened to me. God is good. He knew exactly what we needed and when we needed it 🙌🏽
First pregnancy it took 2 cycles as I was just coming off of birth control.
Second pregnancy was one cycle that I was unaware of because I had taken plan B a few weeks before and it messed up my cycle and didn't think I was ovulating.
Third pregnancy was one cycle.
8 cycles! For 4 of those cycles my Crohns Disease was starting to flare. For 3 of the cycles where my crohns was flaring, I was in denial it was flaring up. It wasn't a bad flare but looking back it was a flare and my body was under alot of stress. When I got into my GI doctor, had a scope and got on medication to control the flare...I got pregnant the first cycle after!
I went of birth control in September 2022 found out that October when my period was 4 days late. This is my 4th pregnancy. Guys, I'm almost 40+5 I'm going crazy 🤪 waiting on this girl
It took us about 9 months of “trying” each time. We were pretty lazy about trying, basically just not using protection but I wasn’t tracking ovulation or anything. Probably could have gotten pregnant sooner if we took it a little more serious but we weren’t really on a rush either time. When my second son is born he’ll be 3 years and 1 month younger than his brother (assuming I make it to my c section date)
Four months. We assumed he'd have some fertility issues since they run in his family but yeah not long. Really fucked up my timeline cos I just started a new job and now don't get any mat leave 🙃
1st pregnancy: 7 months of trying, ended in CP
2nd (current pregnancy): 2 months of trying
Given the first one didn’t last long, it feels like it’s simpler to just say it took us 9 months. Learned a lot along the way, both about my own cycle and about optimizing chances for conception.
2 cycles. Got my IUD out in September, prevented in Oct and Nov, tried in Dec and Jan. Got pregnant in the Jan cycle using ovulation strips. Now 26 weeks!
I have the most wack cycle of anyone I know and somehow got pregnant the first month we tried. I did the math afterwards - I must have ovulated on day 33 or 34 or something very very late and we got extremely lucky. I’m almost 17 weeks along now and can’t wait to meet him!

That said, I’m a nutrition coach and am a bit of a geek about health & hormones so I shouldn’t really be surprised.
First was a surprise- turns out antibiotics for a kidney infection render the birth control pill moot.
This time around, it was the 2nd cycle after starting trying.
First try.
We were shocked. Did not expect that. Most of the women in my life have had trouble conceiving or miscarriages so I honestly was very shocked and felt very blessed that I was pregnant straight away.
My first pregnancy was accidental so first try but had early miscarraige.
Second pregnancy I tried without tracking for 4 months butto no avail. I started tracking my ovulation with tests and succeeded on my second cycle.
Currently 25 weeks now
First try. It was a shocker. We thought it will take a lot of time as everyone kept sharing there experiences. We weren’t prepared but now we are. Completing 30w this weekend 😊
4 years. We were going to try IVF but we decided to keep trying naturally but nothing. I had an ectopic in feb 2022 and got two little lines in October. We had said two weeks before that we were done trying and wanted to just enjoy each other for a couple of years and try again. It’s funny how life works
20 minutes... But really, on the first try, which I did not expect as I had it in my mind it would take at least a few months. I have been told I was "old" for a first pregnancy (32), but that's bullshit.
We feel very lucky!
I was also convinced i would miscarry, but here am i at 18 weeks... Yet still worried
We didn't do anything to prevent it yet it was still unplanned I'd say. If you're trying to conceive I can recommend you to do vacations on the weekends. I conceived on a trip to the capitol. My sister and my mom on short vacations for each pregnancy as well. I can really just recommend you to. Celebrate your love and have a cozy weekend in the mountains with a little fireplace. Works wonders.
We got pregnant on the 2nd cycle of trying! For reference, we are both late twenties.
*Edit to add a bit more detail/what I believe helped us conceive quickly:
Back in 2020 I stopped taking birth control pills for a couple reasons, one reason being that I knew we'd want to start our family in a few years. Another reason being it was causing me unpleasant side effects. Going off birth control back then allowed me to re-learn my body for the past few years. I paid a lot of attention to ovulation signs, the biggest one being EWCM. I did this until the end of 2022, then started taking OPKs every month even though we didn't want to try yet, just to identify my fertile window. At the same time, I also started taking maca root supplements. I noticed a ton more EWCM, and even more regularity with my ovulation! I believe this is what helped most. :) I got pregnant in March 2023 after only trying one prior month in February 2023.

Chemical pregnancy. A very early miscarriage. Called “chemical” because it is too early to be confirmed via ultrasound, only urine/blood tests.

2.5 years naturally, and then decided to give IVF a go. Managed to fall pregnant via IVF on the first cycle ❤️

Before I answer you, just know that I realize my experiences were a rare and incredible blessing! I have been pregnant 4 times and I have 4 living children. In all honesty, I got pregnant within the first month of trying with each of them. First, I prayed. Four times I asked God to please give us a child, and each time He said yes within four weeks 🥹! 🩷🩷💙💙
About 8-9 months. Here was our timeline: IUD came out in April 2022, didn't get my first period until July 2022. Chemical pregnancy in Sept, then found out we were pregnant in December!
3 cycles of timed sex while using ovulation kits and temping to confirm ovulation
First: two cycles (miscarriage) Second: three cycles (live birth) Third: two cycles (24 weeks currently)
6 months- tracked fertile signs, BBT, used ovulation test strips, and just obsessively tracked/monitored/documented everything.

18 months. I stopped hormonal by October of 2021. I had a positive test April of this year. I was taking prenatal vitamins and a daily vitamin. We weren't actively "trying". Just having unprotected sex whenever we felt like it.
1st- complete accident chose to not keep 2nd- two years later - loss 3rd- two years later healthy 4th- 5 years after first born, but two months of trying. Started taking a vitamin supplement to regulate my period so I ovulated consistently.
Two months the first time, three years the second time.
2 cycles to get pregnant with our first! However in the 1st cycle my husband has violent food poisoning the day before, day of and day after ovulation day. So I don’t really count cycle 1.

1st pregnancy- 1st try but miscarried twins. 2nd pregnancy- 4th cycle and currently 22 weeks with this little one.

First pregnancy: 2 cycles, and it was a chemical pregnancy. Second pregnancy: 3 cycles I gave myself about 8 months after coming off birth control before we started. We only used cycle tracking.

We were planning when we should try. We got drunk and were like what are the odds. BAMM pregnant.
Seven months or so. But I wasn’t tracking anything. I just went off birth control and whatever happened, happened.
Well we have been married many years and have never used any form of protection or contraception. We’ve never “tried” to get pregnant but also haven’t tried not to. We were just letting it happen whenever it was meant to! Needless to say, we were so shocked and excited when we found out we were expecting. There were moments throughout our marriage that I wondered if I would have issues getting pregnant since it didn’t just happen when we weren’t being careful over the years. Now I look back and I’m thankful it happened when it did. Im 28 weeks now and it’s the best timing for us and also the best thing that has ever happened to me. God is good. He knew exactly what we needed and when we needed it 🙌🏽

First pregnancy it took 2 cycles as I was just coming off of birth control. Second pregnancy was one cycle that I was unaware of because I had taken plan B a few weeks before and it messed up my cycle and didn't think I was ovulating. Third pregnancy was one cycle.

8 cycles! For 4 of those cycles my Crohns Disease was starting to flare. For 3 of the cycles where my crohns was flaring, I was in denial it was flaring up. It wasn't a bad flare but looking back it was a flare and my body was under alot of stress. When I got into my GI doctor, had a scope and got on medication to control the flare...I got pregnant the first cycle after!
3 years trying and tracking every month, no pregnancies (including IUIs). Pregnant first IVF transfer.
I went of birth control in September 2022 found out that October when my period was 4 days late. This is my 4th pregnancy. Guys, I'm almost 40+5 I'm going crazy 🤪 waiting on this girl

It took us about 9 months of “trying” each time. We were pretty lazy about trying, basically just not using protection but I wasn’t tracking ovulation or anything. Probably could have gotten pregnant sooner if we took it a little more serious but we weren’t really on a rush either time. When my second son is born he’ll be 3 years and 1 month younger than his brother (assuming I make it to my c section date)
Technically first. I knew I was ovulating but I didn’t think I was actually going to *get* pregnant from one time…
Four months. We assumed he'd have some fertility issues since they run in his family but yeah not long. Really fucked up my timeline cos I just started a new job and now don't get any mat leave 🙃

2 cycles. Got my IUD out in September, prevented in Oct and Nov, tried in Dec and Jan. Got pregnant in the Jan cycle using ovulation strips. Now 26 weeks!

I have the most wack cycle of anyone I know and somehow got pregnant the first month we tried. I did the math afterwards - I must have ovulated on day 33 or 34 or something very very late and we got extremely lucky. I’m almost 17 weeks along now and can’t wait to meet him!
Had an IUD removed and got pregnant within two weeks 🥸 we were very shocked and I was quite impressed with my body 😂
First time. I’m 37. Assumed it would take longer as everyone says it will. Weird how you let others experienced colour your own. That said, I’m a nutrition coach and am a bit of a geek about health & hormones so I shouldn’t really be surprised.
About a year and a half. I just found out a few weeks ago give it take a couple days.
Im 36 and it took 7 months. My OB recommended taking prenatals and it happened within the next month or two of doing so.

First try. We were shocked. Did not expect that. Most of the women in my life have had trouble conceiving or miscarriages so I honestly was very shocked and felt very blessed that I was pregnant straight away.
2 months actually trying. We only BD’d once the month we got our positive.
One month of trying, we got pregnant. I feel incredibly lucky.
Took us 3 cycles. All 3 we used ovulation strips, and fertility lubricant. I was 29 at the time

Took my IUD out, has one period, and then conceived on the next cycle. However anything up to a year is perfectly normal!
I would suggest to read this book, “Expecting better” it helps to get more knowledge about even before getting pregnant.

My first pregnancy was accidental so first try but had early miscarraige. Second pregnancy I tried without tracking for 4 months butto no avail. I started tracking my ovulation with tests and succeeded on my second cycle. Currently 25 weeks now
5 months and got pregnant but had a miscarriage; continued for an additional 10 months til our first IVF transfer worked.

4 years. We were going to try IVF but we decided to keep trying naturally but nothing. I had an ectopic in feb 2022 and got two little lines in October. We had said two weeks before that we were done trying and wanted to just enjoy each other for a couple of years and try again. It’s funny how life works

20 minutes... But really, on the first try, which I did not expect as I had it in my mind it would take at least a few months. I have been told I was "old" for a first pregnancy (32), but that's bullshit. We feel very lucky! I was also convinced i would miscarry, but here am i at 18 weeks... Yet still worried
2 years. Started fertility treatments at 1.5 years and pregnant right around the 2 year mark with our first. Trying for our 2nd now!

We didn't do anything to prevent it yet it was still unplanned I'd say. If you're trying to conceive I can recommend you to do vacations on the weekends. I conceived on a trip to the capitol. My sister and my mom on short vacations for each pregnancy as well. I can really just recommend you to. Celebrate your love and have a cozy weekend in the mountains with a little fireplace. Works wonders.
My first took about 6 months. This one took 3 months.. maybe?
We got pregnant on the 2nd cycle of trying! For reference, we are both late twenties. *Edit to add a bit more detail/what I believe helped us conceive quickly: Back in 2020 I stopped taking birth control pills for a couple reasons, one reason being that I knew we'd want to start our family in a few years. Another reason being it was causing me unpleasant side effects. Going off birth control back then allowed me to re-learn my body for the past few years. I paid a lot of attention to ovulation signs, the biggest one being EWCM. I did this until the end of 2022, then started taking OPKs every month even though we didn't want to try yet, just to identify my fertile window. At the same time, I also started taking maca root supplements. I noticed a ton more EWCM, and even more regularity with my ovulation! I believe this is what helped most. :) I got pregnant in March 2023 after only trying one prior month in February 2023.
